The Three Reasons Why I’m Proud to be Pinoy

Saw this meme over at Kyameel’s blog and I must say, whoever started this is a genius! We need more memes like this!

The Three Reasons Why I’m Proud to be Pinoy

  1. I live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. It’s true. People should look and travel beyond Manila to see and experience what the Philippines has to offer.
  2. Filipinos are among the nicest in the world. Sure, we have our fair share of shady characters (who are fairly prominent, unfortunately), which country doesn’t? If you go to a Filipino household, they will offer you everything in their pantry, and even insist you take home some food or even spend the night.
  3. We celebrate the smallest things and we celebrate with food. Everything is a cause for celebration, and a celebration is a great excuse to gather family and friends together to gorge on the most delicious dishes and get drunk and sing along to videoke. It’s embarassing, but it’s one of our most cherish memories.

Tagging Anna D., Christine, Anton, Ajay, and everyone else who wants to share their three reasons :)

I was thinking about this, but can’t really think of many things that are that good about being Swedish. Ikea and H&M come to mind, but that’s not even half as nice as the nice people and food celebrations you wrote about… :/

Couldn’t agree more with number one! :p

  4. Ferdz says:

Oh yeah! I agree with everything you said here. So true!

Btw, didn’t climb the tower. I thought I would be wasting time just to queue up and have only 15min up there. SO I climbed the Bukit Tabur mountain instead.

I do concur Filipinas are amongst the nicest people in the world. hey, I’m half Filipina and it amazes whenever I travel overseas, every single Filipino has embraced me as one of their own, making me eat their food, and offering any kind of help I could possibly need.. despite me not speaking much Tagalog (hangs head in shame)

whereas my other nationality.. Malaysians.. not too embracing of the “hey, you Malaysian, i Malaysian, let’s hug it out!!!!!” despite me speaking the language, and being more Malaysian than anything else.. tis sad.. :( But am proud to be part Pinoy :D

I once read this girl’s blog whining about being half Filipino and feeling so irritated at her.. but then, I felt sadness that she didn’t really embrace what it means to be Filipino. I’m so glad that my parents are very cool!!

Oh, you forgot.. Pinoys make the best guests in parties.. always the life of the party, never the wallflower!!!
