Internet onboard!

American Airlines is set to be the first US carrier to offer Internet access onboard their domesic flights.

Beginning in 2008, American will test the service on its 767-200 aircraft, which chiefly fly transcontinental routes, AirCell said.

AirCell Chief Executive Jack Blumenstein told Reuters that the equipment costs about $100,000 per plane and that airlines can offer the service for about $10 per flight.

Hmmm, I wonder when Philippine carriers will have a similar service? (Not that I need it — if anything, I need to spend more time away from the computer)

For $10, I’d definitely use it. But probably only if Northwest got it for their US-Japan flights. For once I’d actually be able to do stuff I like rather than suffer through an in-flight movie or read their magazines over and over again.

Pero I like the idea. Especially on long flights. Mas madami kang pag lilibangan 😀

that’d be expensive here. cebu pacific just made their flights as no-frills

pero kakalibang though i prefer to watch movies pa rin during long flights (as if i ever had one)

For long haul, I’m quite happy with just a personal entertainment system. Well, as long as they have a good selection of movies and TV programs XD

I agree, $10 doesn’t seem like a lot of money for internet access. I guess it would also depend on how long you plan to be flying 🙂
