[Update: September 15, 2014] Philippine passport holders can now apply for an Australian tourist visa online through the IMMI website. Application fee must be paid via credit card. You can still apply in person through VFS.

I am not a visa officer, nor am I migration agent. I am in no way affiliated with the Australian Embassy Manila nor with the Australian government. This post comes from my experience with preparing and submitting visa applications for family members and for myself. Also note that this entry pertains to my experience in applying for an Australian tourist visa in October 2006. The Australian immigration update their forms every 3 months. I will try to answer your questions the best way that I can, but bear in mind that a lot has changed since 2006. If you ask a question I’ve already answered in the post, I will ignore you.
One of the questions people ask me when I tell them I’ve been to Australia is if it’s easy to get a tourist visa. Almost everybody in Manila have heard of stories of how hard it is to obtain a US tourist visa: compiling documents like birth certificate, bank statements, even land titles O_O, paying a high application fee, waiting in line for hours for an interview. Is it as hard to get a tourist visa for Australia as it is for the US?
Actually, it’s not whether it’s harder on not, but it really boils down to how complete your documents are. I believe all embassies would be very meticulous about all the applications they receive, and it is really important to send them all the required documents.
Be it the Australian embassy, the US embassy or the Chinese embassy, they all want to know the same thing: that you are who you say you are, that you have the means to fund your trip in their country, and that you will be returning to your home country.
Proof of identity
This of course, is your passport and your birth certificate.
Proof of sufficient funds
Bank statements, credit card documents stating your credit limit, payslip
Proof that you’re not going to be an illegal immigrant
Certificate of employment if you’re already working or certificate of enrollment if you’re still studying

Sis, i was messaging u on ym. nag txt na sila. na out na daw ung dox ko for delivery na. baka mabagal lng pag send if nasa province ung location ng applicant. I called air21 sa branch office nila dito. nasa manila pa daw ung dox ko nasa hub nila. dko alam kelan dito darating sa province. hoping it was granted wala nmn kac ako news narinig from them for almost 2wks. btw congrats in advance alam mo na ung result nung application mo.

Hi Kc, where did you lodge your application? Via center or pinick-up ng courier? You can call the call center numbers ung tinatawagan din for pick-up ng dox. that’s their site sa ibaba. or u can check the embassy website there’s a page where u can send ur enquiries thru email. btw, did you apply tv for more than 3 months?

hello everyone.. this blog is really helpful with regards to all necessary documents needed in applying an australian tourist visa, even the procedures were detailed here.
and i hope you can also help me. my situation is, i am invited to visit brisbane. he will support me financially. but the thing is, he is a permanent resident of New Zealand. he’s supposed to visit me here in manila so that we can know each other deeper but he just moved to Brisbane for a month now and new to his work. do you think his invitation and support can be granted/considered by the embassy for the approval of my application?

Hi Jenny ! mas ok if scan copy un passport mo (all pages na may travelling ka at un last page) pero u need to submit p rin un original passport mo. ibabalik din nila un sau.
Hi sis Jenny. with regard sa documents mo, need talagang ipa-notarize ang biopage ng passport mo including the stamps therein. No need to submit the original passport. You can submit original copies of all the documents if you want since ibabalik din naman nila yun after magrant ang visa mo.

Sorry for the late response. Yep, sis Mabel was right no need to notarize your docs. I haven’t had any of my docs notarized including my new and old passport biopages and pages with stamps. When I called the via center for pick-up, I was advised not to include the original passport. scanned or photocopy would do. Visa grant comes in a piece of paper it means no visa label on ur passport. You can later apply if you want. Not sure of the process though.That’s the next assignment. I am planning to have my visa stamped on my passport too. Good luck!
Hi sis hellenk, every time I got my visa granted I always request for visa stamp in my passport. Like wise of applying for a visa, you need to fill up form 1405 then payment is also thru MC, lodge at the centre or can be pick up by air 21, waitin period is 3-5 days.
U can either send the original copy or certified true copy. All of my docs were photocopied. Pag original ung docs ibabalik din nmn I think sau yan. I had the biopage of my passport scanned and ung pages na may stamp.

Hi Jenny. Un passport mo ok lng na scan copy. Un sa nag invite sau need ipa signed sa justice of peace sa Australia. Much better if wait mo un mga original copy ng invitation letter and copy of passport ng sponsor mo. Isama mo n rin un mailing envelope na may stamp pag nagsubmit k ng mga documents 😀

Tourist visa lang po ang i-apply ko.. We haven’t met pa po, and sya ang dapat na pupunta dito pero kakastart nya lang sa work so ako na lang ang iniinvite nya na pumunta dun..

it exactly took 20 days, depende pa rin sa case officer who checks your documents. excluding the pick up and transit. Count day 1 right in when the embassy received your application.

Hi. My cousin po lives in Australia, and my daughter, teenager pa (16 years old), gusto niya sanang mag vacation doon and we can afford naman. Paano po yung mga financial documents such as credit cards and the like, sa parents po bang documents kasi minor pa siya? She’d be travelling alone lang, she tried naman din many times na like in Singapore and other places. Ang concern ko lang dito ay yun documents. Thanks!

Hi Marj, nde kc cla particular if how much un show money . You need to convince them na babalik ka d2 sa atin. And plus factor if matagal mo na rin kakilala un sponsor mo… 2nd time ko na rin nag lodge ng application and it was granted. Ng submit ako ng Credit Card and Bank Statement ko (print-out thru online only) un latest 3 months. Makikita kc dun un bank transaction mo. And if meron ka mga assets like house & lot, car na nakapangalan sau submit mo din. Pictures nyo together, itinerary & hotel reservations if nagvacation kau pareho d2 s pinas. Itago mo lng un mga documents n isinoli sau ng Embassy, magagamit mo rin yan s next application mo. Don’t be upset, apply uli 😀
Marjorie first time ko nga apply ng visa kahit 12k lang ung pinakita kong bank statement ko they grant my visa… i think di naman mag base kung how much money you have kung sponsored visa lang ung kinuha mo kasi sa sponsor kasi cla mag base kung kaya talaga ng sponsor mo na e provide lahat ng gastos while you are in australia… sorry to hear about that… baka next time they grant your visa…

Jenni kahit wala kang bank account ok lang, total sponsor mo naman ang sagot lahat ng gastos mo… print out mo ung chat logs nyong dalawa na nagchachat kau. tapos receipt ng WU o kahit ano na nagpapadala xa ng pera sau, tapos, iisa lang ung tourist at visit visa, ung sponsor mo hingi ka ng passport copy nya, invitation letter, payslip nya, bank statement nya, statutory declaration, water bills, license kahit ano na magpapatunay na kaya ka nyang suportahan while u are in australia… good luck

Maricris pwede ka mag apply ulit, but e attach mo ung documents na nag apply ka before at na refuse… im sure granted ka na 🙂 Just convince the CO na babalik ka talaga ng pinas before your visa expires… Good luck

i agree with them sis. i dont think they base it with how much money u have in the bank, prng sometimes nga they’re more doubtful pa if u have too much funds especially my sponsor ka. kase the sponsor is supposed to be the one to provide capability of support kaya siya dapat ang my money sa bank. i think having massive funds will only matter if ur applying for a tourist visa without sponsor kase u need to show the embassy that u can support urself for the duration of ur holiday in australia.

Good luck sa lahat na nagapply and congrats din sa mga nagrant na ng visa. Share ko lang din na i got approved for the second time within a six month span so this site and all the responders really helped. Woot!
Btw mabilis na po magrant ng tv as long as complete yung documents. Naglodge din ako ng 25, then 29th i got the text na its on its way here. Tapos this time around, i didnt get the no further stay so im guessing pwede magextend while there.
Ask ko lang though, may nagkaproblema na ba sa pagalis nyo if you only get a one way ticket? Kasi since i can extend, ibonggang extend ko na until december xD
So anyway – in case din po na may need ng help let me know and provide din ako ng help.

May friend din po ako na nagapply pero kasi madalas sya mag travel to australia – halos sabay din kami nagapply and nakuha nya yung sa kanya after a week eh. pero kasi sabi nila nasa person din daw na nagpprocess ng visa mismo yung timeframe, so pray and think positive! as long as complete ang docs maggrant din yung application mo 🙂

sis i suggest u get a two way ticket especially if ur visa is single entry khit wlng restrictions. there are some girls who made it through immigration without a return ticket but their entries are multiple. just to be in on the safe side get a return ticket nlng to avoid hassle with immigration kase i know someone she was not allowed to get in so she had to get a return ticket at the airport.

its not worth the hassle at the immigration sis, u know naman some of the immi officers here in phils mejo pain in the arse tlg. haha! so its better to just pay for rebooking fee than argue with them:)

Here’s the thing.. Sa intent letter ko, sabi ko i’ll be in Australia on May 29 until June 10. Nagsubmit din ako ng COE stating my approved vacation leave on those dates. Baka isa yun sa reason kung bakit ako na-approve ng visa..
Suggestion ni bf, iconsume ko na lang yung buong validity ng visa ko.. Question, hindi kaya makasira sa record ko yun at mahirapan na ako kumuha ng visa next time? Kasi hindi ako naging truthful sa dates na binigay ko. Nag-assure din kasi ako sa letter ko that I won’t abandon my work and my Church service.

Wala naman nakalagay na “no further stay” pero may date dun sa Last day of arrival na Oct 24, pang 6th month yun from date of approval ng visa ko..
Parang ang hirap nagconvince na may work pa ako na babalikan nun sis.. Hehehe
pag walang no further stay sis much better no need to make waiver for that… all you have to do is to make an intent letter convincing your CO that your going to extend your stay there and you will going back home before your visa expires… yan ung problema sis, ok lang sana na babalik ka because you have family here but 50-50 talaga yan sis kung granted yan… but try mo nalang sis… malay natin granted ka… ako sis pwede talaga ako mag extend kasi may certificate of employment ako at certificate of leave, sa kuya ko lang kasi ako nagtratrabaho so anytime babalik ako kung kailan ko gusto….
Wow.. Sarap naman nyan jean.. Pwede magleave indefinite and bumalik anytime.. Sa work ko kasi, hindi naman pwede 🙁

Congrats on your visa, KC! Multiple entry visa lets you enter Australia multiple times within the validity of your visa. So if your visa is valid until 2016, you can go in and out of Australia from now until then, using your current visa. Each time you enter, you are allowed to stay up to 6 months.

You can go in and out of Australia as many times as you can during that time period. You can stay for 3 days up to 6 months, it’s up to you, just don’t go beyond 6 months for one visit, unless you get an extension.

if you want sis Jenny mag resign ka nalang total granted ka naman for 3 months tapos may plan ka pang mag extend so better mag resign ka nalang…. ako nga noon sis approved ako ng 6 months leave tapos granted ako for 3 months pero di na ako bumalik sa work ko dati, ok lang naman ung boss ko…. kasi nong dumating ako sa pinas diretso ako sa office… kailangan din ako ng kuya ko so di na ako bumalik doon… dito na ako nagwork sa kuya ko…

jenny, ganun ba siguro nman maiintindihan yan nang boss mo, up2u sis kong gusto mo bumalik o hindi kasi yunng visa mo singgle entry if or 3 months kailgan mong mag aply ulit for another tv f u choose to stay until june 10, unlike f multiple puedi ka bumalik kelan gusto mo, pero magastos sa ticket nga lang f afford nman nang bf mo sis goooo.. hihi, just my suggestion lang sis, ako dati ung reason ko is about for my school,na kailangan ko umuwi kasi nga dahil sa school ko pero di ako umuwi dat date na sinabi ko sa intent hihi 2nd time, aply aqo ulit ang reason ko is ung gumawa ako inten:)
agree ako kay rose Jenny, ok lang sana kung multiple entry ka kasi makaka visit ka ng oz anytime without applying another visa, kung ako sau sis susulitin ko talaga vacation ko, sayang naman ang pagkakataon…

kc, sis tama si jean, at sis yung visa mo is multiple 6 months means, 6+6 = 12 hihi so bali since nasa oz kana yan ang 1st 6 months mo dyan sA OZ sis.. example pumunta ka sa oz dec 6 expired ang 6 months mo sis may 6, kaya bfore may 6 like example may 5, dapat flight mo na yan pabalik sa atin kasi expired ang visa mo may 6.. puedi ka din mag exit sa singapore sis din after 1 or 2 day balik ulit ka sa oz sis.. yang ang twice mo pabalik sa oz, example ulit sis hihihi, may 8 flight mo pabalik sa oz at u can stay in oz util october 8.. din october 7 exit mo pabalik sa pinas.. so bali twice ka lang puedi bumalik sa oz sis.. kasi nga 1 year lang ung validity nang visa u hope it helps sis.. hihi… god bless

nanginginig talagaa ung kamay ko pagbukas ng envelop at basahin kung ano nakasulat 🙂 hehehe….

Hi Jean, I heard youre heading to Canberra, we just had our 5 days holiday there and it is bloody cold there! Ranging from 0 to 1 ang minimum and the maximum is less than 20 deg cel and it is sunny! Hi Jenny, I understand the trust and integrity that ur boss gave you a leave for work to travel and visit ur bf in aussie, if I were you, follow your heart what is best for you, but since first time mo pa lang ma meet si bf, u never know but to break the Trust that has given to you by your boss if that is what you think, you can apply tv visa anytime you want naman diba in the future. atlease if u come back to Ph u have job and when u need another leave for ur nxt app. boss will not hesistate to sign of your leave again for work when u want to travel again. up to you Jenny…

Got my 3 months multiple entry visa granted for 2 days process lang nagulat nga ako ang bilis bilis. Lodge my application may 5, no text or confirmation recieved from embassy tas may 9 tinawagan ko ung hotline kung kumusta na ung application ko sabi nasa via center na daw nung may 8 pa kasi pick up ako so pinick up ko nung may 9… 🙂 thanks to this site i been here for almost 4 years na lahat ng tv application ko granted because of this site. Ms. Nina you did a good job thank u so much and sa lahat ng mag cocoment at nag bibigay ng mga experience nila 🙂

My sponsor po ay isang family na friend ng tita ko kasi selfish tita ko ayaw niya tumulong makapunta ako sa oz kaya ung friend niya na lang ang sponsor ko. Kaya lang bata pa ako 19 palang no credit cards and work…nagstop na rin ako sa pag aaral ko. Ano po bang mga documents ang kailangan? Kasi this is my first time kasi mag apply ng tv… at pag nag apply po ba ay kailangan po ba ako pumunta sa australian embassy para sa interview pag tinawagan ako kasi sa nababasa ko parang phone lang ang interview sa inyo. im not doing anything here sa work, so i thought id share my thought. back track k lng ng mga posts dito, im sure u will learn a lot on how to start ur visa application 🙂
bout ur application, since u mentioned u stopped school na u might need to provide more docs to prove the embassy na ur coming back. it will be a big help sana if ur still studying. but u can always apply of course basta strong lng ties m to come back and u have compelling reasons to visit australia:)
no need to go to australian embassy, u can either arrange a pick up or go directly to via (check via.ph) for walk in application.
regarding receiving calls from embassy, hindi ko na experience but i think its case to case basis. sometimes the embassy calls if my clarify sila sa application m but if wala hindi naman sila tmtwag.

hi jenny this is stella, t aside from your visa grant notice, it will be better if you bring with u your documents that you used when u lodged your visa application, just for sure in case the immigration will question you at least you have some proofs to show them. pang ilang biyahe mo na ito to oz? have a safe sailing. keep blessed.

hi jenny stella here Praise God at everything were alright. but its good that u brought all your documents at least hindi kna tinanung pa ng iba pang tanung except kung saan ka mag stay. palagi mo lang tatandaan sa su2nod na biyahe mo uli punta oz wag lang visa at passport mo ang iyong dadalhin, plagi mo dalhin lahat ng supporting documents mo, alam mo naman ang immigration kapag natipuhan kang tanungin, kahit meron kna dala na visa grant notice ay magtatanung pa rin yang mga yan, kaya dapat lagi kang handa pra meron ka lagi ipapakita na proof. mbuti na lang at wala silang ibang hinanap sau. pero talagang nakakanerbiyos kapag unang biyahe kahit kmi ng anak ko nung byahe namin nerbiyos din ako kya panay ang dasal ko, pero ang sarap ng pakiramdam kapag nakalampas kna sa immigration. kmi naman ng anak ko ay d nila tinanung basta ang tanung lang “how did u find your trip yun lang, ha ha ha. kami ng anak ko nakahinga ng malalim at sobra saya namin ng sabihin na sa amin nung officer na “welcome to sydney” at ng makalabas na kmi sa sydney airport sabi ko talagang safe na kmi ng anak ko. pero sa totoo lang sis nag pray kmi k God to protect us and cover us with His precious blood so we can enter sydney safe and sound, and He alwys give us favor, He is really great God just put our trust in Him. sensya na d ko mapigilan na papurihan Sya dahil sa mga favors na binibigay at ibibigay Nya sa amin ng anak ko.

yes abie u just wait they will ring u if they want to clarify something pero kung wala naman cia itatanong tungkol sa application mo, they will text you to let u know kung ready na for delivery yun result ng application mo (depende kung ikaw mag pick up or ipadeliver mo) the processing time for tourist visa is really 1 month but usually it will only take 2 wks or 1 wk yun iba nga less than a week labas na visa nila, depende sa application at kung wala naman problema sa mga isinubmit mo.
