Kaamulan Festival 2009

We’re currently here in our hotel room in Cagayan de Oro, but earlier today, we spent the day in Malaybalay, Bukidnon for the Kaamulan Festival.

We arrived on the first flight out of Manila to CDO, and it took us a while before heading out to Bukidnon. We got there just as the 7th and last tribe was performing.

Nonetheless, we were able to see the spectacular costumes, elaborate floats and hear the heart pounding music. It was a shame that we missed most of the performances, but we have seen enough to know that we should come back next year.

Ferdz: It is! Hindi pa siya masyadong commercialized (though present ang mga politico). You can really see that this is part of their tradition and culture talaga. Really really lovely festival.
