Snapshot: Athens

When I was reading up on Greece prior to our trip, I came across some comments that dismissed Athens as a dirty, chaotic city that’s overrated and only serves as a gateway to the Greek islands.

I don’t know where they stayed or what happened to them in Athens, but our experience so far has been nothing short of amazing. We’re staying at Plaka, under the shadow of the towering walls of the Acropolis, an area where the streets are small and lined with beautiful houses and quaint cafรฉs. It’s very touristy, but you can turn a corner and discover a hidden gem.

We haven’t ventured far from our neighborhood, except this afternoon when we walked all the way to the funicular station in Kolonaki to head up to Lykovittos hill for a 360 degrees view of Athens. It was far, the climb up hundreds of steps zapped our energy, but we were rewarded with a gorgeous sight, and pride for surviving the hike.

Our favourites were actually Rhodes and Santorini!

Do try to make a detour to Santorini if you can. It is one of the most beautiful places we’ve been. I swear.. watching the sunset at Oia made me believe that there is a supreme being in the universe.

Will keep that in mind! We’re headed to Santorini next!

Hi, kakainggit ang pics! If I may, I have an almost-stupid question, actually kind of nakakahiya itanong but anyway I will now : how do you fund your travels? I really want to travel but I’m still working, above average (I think) yung income ko nga from work but couldn’t afford, perhaps Its instilled in me na its so expensive to travel. But if I may, can I ask too if you could give us tips for visa (does Schengen includes Greece?) and fundings? Sorry but true blue innocent question lang po ๐Ÿ˜€
