Get going with GetGo

Disclaimer: I was invited by GetGo for their media launch back in March, but the content here is based on my own experience as a GetGo member.

I’ve long been a customer of Cebu Pacific. I signed up as a member of Ceb Club, their old membership program, mainly so it’d be easier when I’m booking flights (or checking promo fares): I don’t have to fill out the form with my personal information.

Early this year, I received an email saying that my Ceb Club account has been converted to GetGo, which is Cebu Pacific’s new rewards program. It’s not a frequent flier program where you get points based on the miles you’ve flown. You get points based on the amount you’ve spent on airfare and add ons.

GetGo

For Cebu Pacific and CebGo flights, you get 1 GetGo Point for each Php 5 spent on fares and add-ons. When you have enough points, you can use them to fly for free!

Aside from earning from flights, you can also convert the points you’ve earned through your credit card to GetGo points, though conversion rates vary. The good thing about this is that it’s not only the Cebu Pacific branded Citibank card that lets you convert points — you can also convert the points from other banks like BDO, Metrobank, and EastWest bank. The bad thing is that none of my banks are their partner.

Still, they are working on getting more retail partners, so you can earn points when you shop.

I don’t have the experience of signing up for a GetGo account since my own account was converted for CebClub, but if you’re interested in signing up, just go to their website and register. You’ll need to pay Php 150 for your membership card. The feedback from friends who signed up said it took months for their cards to arrive.

Still, even without my card (for my main membership account), I was able to earn points for my flights. For my flights booked after my GetGo account has been activated, my membership number is automatically added to my booking, and points are logged as soon as the flight was flown.

Did you fly before you signed up for GetGo? You can still claim points from flights flown within the last six months. Claiming missing points is surprisingly easy: just click on Claim Missing points on the GetGo website, fill out your flight details, and points are posted instantly. Of course, that is if your fare fits the criteria: if you bought flights during a piso fare, and did not buy any add-ons, you won’t be a getting any points, because you need to spend Php 5 to get 1 point.

GetGoSale

GetGo is having a big sale from September 18 to 21, with domestic flights going as low as 200 points per flight, and Sydney flights going for a super low 2,000 points (it’s usually 17,000+). If you’ve been procrastinating on claiming your GetGo points, do it now before the promo starts!
