Travel Expenses: Davao 2008

My to-blog list is so long, I have pending entries from JUNE -_-; BUT! I’m slowly going to work my way through the list, provided I can still remember the details of each trip >_< Anywhoo, I finally dug out my notebook and tallied my expenses from our Davao trip last August. This is fairly expensive for a 3-day trip. The fare wasn't on sale when I bought it, specially since it was during the Kadayawan weekend. Also, I took this opportunity to start on my Christmas shopping because hey, how often do I go to Mindanao? The best thing about this trip was, since we were a fairly large group, we were able to divide the major expenses into 6, letting us save some money in the process.

Davao
August 2008
Cost Per Person
Air Transfers

Cebu Pacific Php 5,877.76 Php 5,877.76
Manila Domestic Terminal Fee Php 200.00 Php 200.00
Davao Domestic Terminal Fee Php 200.00 Php 200.00

Airport Transfers
Manila (Two way) Php 340.00 Php 340.00
Davao (Two way) Php 102.00 Php 102.00 1
Accommodation
Ponce Suites
Townhouse w/o breakfast Php 1,790.00 Php 596.00 2
Transportation Expenses
Taxi and jeep around Davao Php 252.50 Php 252.50 3
Tour van Php 3,200.00 Php 533.00 4
Food Expenses
All meals including snacks Php 1,685.75 Php 1,685.75 5
Miscellaneous
Entrance fees Php 160.00 Php 160.00 6
Souvenirs/Christmas Shopping Php 1,285.00 Php 1,285.00 7
Total Php 11,232.01

1 This was kept low because there are three of us sharing the cab on the way to the hotel, and four of us on the ride to the airport in Davao
2 The townhouse was a really good value, specially if you’re a big group. It’s an apartment that has one bedroom and toilet & bath in the ground floor, and three rooms and one toilet & bath in the 2nd floor.
3 Short jeepney rides around Davao costs Php 8 each, while airconditioned taxis flag down at Php 30 (with an additional Php 10 after the total).
4 We hired a van to take us around Davao, mainly to the Philippine Eagle Center. The van was arranged through Ponce Suites and costs Php 3,000 for 8-hours. We had a really good driver, so we gave him a Php 200 tip. The total cost was divided 6 ways.
5 Damn, I eat a lot.
6 This includes entrance fees to the Eagle center and to Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort in Samal
7 Christmas shopping!
