While I have been back in the Philippines since July 6, I haven’t really been “home.” My sister who lives in Australia arrived on the same day that I did, and I stayed with them in their rented flat until yesterday, when they left to go back to Melbourne. Since I came back from my trip, I have been to our house exactly twice, and I didn’t even stay longer than three hours on each occasion. I just went back to pick up some clothes and things before heading back to Makati.

Where the last two weeks was spent

I guess I wanted to put off coming home as much as I can. Though I’ve been back to work since July 1st, I have been working from different locations, not my usual spot in my parent’s house. I suppose I was trying to delude myself into thinking that I’m still technically on holiday.

Though I somewhat dreaded having to turn off my holiday mode, it felt good to be home for real. Things just feel much natural, and it’s certainly easier working in a kitchen where I know where everything is stored. And to eat fresh pili with rice sans utensils is just heaven.

I’m going to bed at 6am, when my work shift ends. When I wake up at 2pm, I’ll check my mail first before having brunch, then heading out to the bank to make a payment, to the post office to pick up some toys I ordered online, and to the supermarket to do some shopping. At 9pm, I start work again. It sounds perfectly boring, but I’m quite happy to settle into this routine. Besides, my routine includes planning for that next trip 😉
