I prepared as much as I can, always on the lookout for the best rates, working out a budget that would let me enjoy certain luxuries, while keeping the costs down, I’m quite happy to find out that I’m able to keep this trip way below what I spent during my first trip to Japan. I either go to their office to buy insurance (you can pay in either peso or dollar), but sometimes if I go through certain agents, I pay via bank deposit.

I think I got the deluxe dollar plan.

Osaka-Nagoya-Tokyo. Keep on traveling…….

Its an experience by itself. Also, if you’re going there for just a week, the Rail Pass is not a good idea. Hindi mo masusulit yun, I say, just focus on staying in either the Kansai region, or the Tohoku area. I vote for the Kansai region, not only because Cebu Pac goes there directly, but also you get to see some of the best cities in Japan. Make Osaka ur base, and take day trips to Kyoto (40mins-1hr), Nara (30-40mins) or Kobe (30mins). If you go to a random train station (the JR, Keihan or Kintetsu), they will have day passes usually around JPY2000 to these cities inclusive of train and bus rides. Sometimes also free entrances to the tourist attraction.

I also highly recommend going up to Koya-san, which is an hour and a half away from Osaka. You can opt to stay at a “temple lodging” and walk around Okuin cemetery at night. The train lumbering up the mountain and the scenery is an experience.

Tokyo is cool but I think its a bit overrated and expensive. When you go down south, you see a very Japanese Japan. Not too many visitors as compared to Tokyo. The people are friendlier and the food fantastic.

P.S. If you want cheap bentos, go to any supermarket near closing time and sometimes, there are very nice bentos and sushi plates at half the original price.

I really like the way you organize your trip! I saw your blog from a post made by Laureen Uy. She mentioned you won an award in Malaysia. Congratulations for that and going through your blog now, the award is really for you! You deserve it no doubt. Hope you can check my new blog and drop some feedback 🙂

Transportation around the city and other areas is the most costly, especially if you take the bullet train. That’s why most of the people have bicycles there. The food is great since I’m a fan of Japanese delicacies.

Hi Elbi, you can find the Kitkats in most souvenir shops. Even the train station kiosks have them 🙂
