I was in a self-imposed travel hiatus, which I was aiming to stretch until October, but I was all too happy to break it for a chance to visit Iloilo, upon the invitation Injap Tower Hotel. One of the newest hotels in Iloilo city, it is located not in the downtown city center, in the area near the city’s new developing CBD.
Though I’m a fan of staying in the center where everything is walkable, I find that I don’t mind Injap Tower Hotel’s location. It’s located along the Diversion Road, which is the main highway that connects the airport to the city. It’s also right across SM City Iloilo, so if you forget to pack something, you just have to cross the road. There’s also a transport terminal there, so it’s easy to get a ride to wherever you want to go. Plazuela de Iloilo is also nearby, so you don’t have to go far to hit the bars.
Injap Tower Hotel only has one room type: Happy Room. Minimalistic in design, the rooms have two beds — one queen bed and one single. Perfect for parents traveling with kids, or friends traveling in groups. Or a solo traveler who has a bad habit of spreading everything in her backpack on all available surface.
There’s a desk if you want to work (or eat), a kichenette with a sink, counter, and microwave for heating food or water, if you want to stay in. There’s also a flat screen TV with cable, and the hotel’s wifi is available in all the rooms (though signal can be weak, and as with any shared connection, if one guest decides to torrent, the speed for everyone else slows down).
The bathroom, while not the biggest, does not feel cramped. There is enough space for you to move around (or scrub vigorously) without bumping into the wall. There is hot water in the shower, but it can be a challenge for short people, as the water heater is placed pretty high up in the wall. However, their staff is very accommodating, so you can ask them to set the heater before your shower.
There is also ample closet space, a safe for your valuables is also included in the room. Towels and toiletries are also included in the room, but hair dryers are available upon request and comes with a Php 50 charge per day.
After a long day of sightseeing, you can relax with a swim in their pool on the 5th floor, exercise in their gym, or enjoy a relaxing massage at the spa.
Breakfast is available at the Horizon Cafe on the 21st floor. It’s a pretty popular restaurant, not just for hotel guests, but to the Ilonggos as well. Serving Singaporean favorites, this is the place to go if you have a craving for Nyonya cuisine.
With room prices starting at Php 1,250 per night, it’s a great value hotel. If there’s three of you sharing a room, the total comes down to just Php 417 per person. How awesome is that?
