traveling_gnome – Just Wandering https://justwandering.org Filipina budget traveler, set to explore the world Wed, 10 Oct 2012 19:23:28 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://i0.wp.com/justwandering.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/cropped-jw.png?fit=32%2C32&ssl=1 traveling_gnome – Just Wandering https://justwandering.org 32 32 35669073 What’s your travel gnome? https://justwandering.org/2007/everything-travel-related/whats-your-travel-gnome/ https://justwandering.org/2007/everything-travel-related/whats-your-travel-gnome/#comments Wed, 30 May 2007 22:49:26 +0000 https://justwandering.org/index.php/2007/05/31/whats-your-travel-gnome/ You’ve seen it in Amelie, and again in Travelocity. What started out as a prank, is now somewhat a norm for travelers, though not always with a gnome.

Anton listed a some bloggers who have their ‘gnomes’: Joey and her BJDs, Ariel with his Bearbricks, Isabelle and her tabo (water dipper), Batjay and his Spiderman, Via and her Merlin, and Miss McDonald. (no further introduction needed. Haha.) Of course, there’s also Anton and his 2-year old son, Aidan.

As for me, and Khursten, our gnomes are these 4-inch dolls that are just beyond cute: Pinky Street dolls.

They’ve been with me to Bohol

The hills are aliiiiiiiiive Adventurous Pinkies Reina giving me the finger

Explored Sydney with me.

Sayuri at the Opera house Nazuna at the garden Even Sayuri is impressed with Manly beach

We’ve also lazed around and enjoyed the fine white sand beaches of the Gold Coast.

So what if he's naked? Nuu nee nuu nee nuu This is MY land

I know of a lot of people who like having their pictures taken with popular tourist landmarks in the background. I, on the otherhand, am uncomfortable if I’m standing by myself on the otherside of the camera. Odd, since I get more weird looks taking pictures of 4-inch dolls.

Weird looks or not, I really enjoy taking my dolls with me when I travel. They’re like instant company, a friendly face in a foreign land. Sans the conversations and arguments as to where to go and what to do, of course.

What about you, do you have a travel gnome?
