If you’ve been following me on Facebook<\/a>, Twitter<\/a>, and Instagram<\/a>, you’d know that I had a grand time at the Midas Hotel last Friday, as evidenced by the copious amounts of alcohol and desserts.<\/p>\n Not that alcohol and sweets are essential for a fun evening, but it does help, specially when had with good company and it certainly makes the conversations much more… interesting. There really was no agenda for that evening, and we were quite happy lounging in the comfy couches in the suite’s living room. The hotel’s building was built in 1965 and designed by National Artist Leandro Locsin. Though the structure is nearly fifty years old, the hotel’s interior design is very modern, with clean lines and warm tones. The original adobe walls (a fixture in any building at that time), are kept in place, protected by clear glass, which actually made it look (sort of) modern. Ish. <\/p>\n The eight floor, which is designated as the ladies’ floor (a boon for solo female travelers), feature lighter colors, in contrast with the darker tones of the other rooms. The toilet has one of those Japanese controls, which should keep you entertained if there’s nothing that interests you on TV or if the Internet run out of cat videos. <\/p>\n

\nWhen the meeting time was set to 3 o’clock in the afternoon, I was baffled. Since my body clock operate at UTC, 3pm was a tad too early for me. Turns out it was just the right time, because people arrived late (me), and we have just enough time for tea, before catching the Manila Bay sunset from the executive room balcony on the 8th floor.<\/p>\n
\nCocktails at Midas Hotel are really good. Go for the Melon Ball, if you have the chance.<\/em><\/div>\n
