Travel Budget: Singapore

Posted by nina under Singapore

I’ll start this entry off by saying that this travel budget is rather inaccurate, since I pretty much stopped writing down my expenses when I got to comfortable in Singapore. So there were items that I missed, and items that probably shouldn’t be listed.

I’ve included the cheap airfare to and from Singapore in this budget, excluding the expenses incurred in the Philippines (airport & travel tax, taxi). It’s a fairly decent amount, except that it does not include any accommodation expense and no costs on souvenirs either. This budget is only for six days in Singapore: Day 1, and Days 25 to 30.

One on one with Mother Ricky

Warning: Girly post ahead.

One of the things I’m kinda regretting not doing while overseas is to get a haircut. To be honest, I’m wary of getting my hair cut by someone who can’t understand English. Then I realize, that’s the novelty; you either walk away with a fabulous new ‘do or sporting a hairstyle you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy. Besides, it’s just hair, and up until a couple of days ago, I have more than enough that if one hair-dresser botch up my hair cut, there would still be enough for another.

On a sunny Saturday afternoon, I, along with Eric, Ferdz, Oggie, Dong and Omar found ourselves inside La Cocina de Tita Moning. We were there upon Ivan Man Dy’s invitation to get a taste of his relaunched Palace, Power and a shot of beer walking tour of the MalacaƱang Palace.

Unlike previous post-trip accounting posts, I’ve consolidated all legs of my Malaysian trip into one spreadsheet. Admittedly, I started getting lazy listing down every expense (which is going to be hell when I start working on the Singapore leg). For a six-day trip, it still came down to a pretty decent amount, specially since I splurged for a hotel in Penang, and took all my meals in the resort in the Perhentians.

Finally home

Posted by nina under Philippines, Word Vomit

While I have been back in the Philippines since July 6, I haven’t really been “home.” My sister who lives in Australia arrived on the same day that I did, and I stayed with them in their rented flat until yesterday, when they left to go back to Melbourne. Since I came back from my trip, I have been to our house exactly twice, and I didn’t even stay longer than three hours on each occasion. I just went back to pick up some clothes and things before heading back to Makati.

Have a break..

I am *slowly* getting better at packing light. I managed to keep my backpack under 6.5 kilos during my one-month backpacking trip in Southeast Asia, but of course, that doesn’t count my heavy messenger bag and extra bag with my Bangkok dollie shopping.

So how did I manage to pack relatively light? By not bringing so much stuff. Here are the contents of my bags:

Continuing on with my post-trip series, here’s my travel expenses for Bangkok, Thailand. Like the previous post-trip accounting posts, this only include the land transfer coming into the country. Also, I did not include the costs for the doll things I hoarded in BKK.

For five days and four nights in a major city, this is a pretty cheap trip.

Nina Fuentes | Lovin' ManilaNina, going through quarterlife crisis, decided to stop talking about traveling and actually start traveling. Starting with a solo weekend trip to Cebu to a backpacking trip in Thailand and Singapore, she finally made it out of Asia and into Australia. After spending close to six months down under, she's happily settled in Manila (for now), intent to explore the best things the Philippines has to offer.
