[Update: September 15, 2014] Philippine passport holders can now apply for an Australian tourist visa online through the IMMI website. Application fee must be paid via credit card. You can still apply in person through VFS.

I am not a visa officer, nor am I migration agent. I am in no way affiliated with the Australian Embassy Manila nor with the Australian government. This post comes from my experience with preparing and submitting visa applications for family members and for myself. Also note that this entry pertains to my experience in applying for an Australian tourist visa in October 2006. The Australian immigration update their forms every 3 months. I will try to answer your questions the best way that I can, but bear in mind that a lot has changed since 2006. If you ask a question I’ve already answered in the post, I will ignore you.
One of the questions people ask me when I tell them I’ve been to Australia is if it’s easy to get a tourist visa. Almost everybody in Manila have heard of stories of how hard it is to obtain a US tourist visa: compiling documents like birth certificate, bank statements, even land titles O_O, paying a high application fee, waiting in line for hours for an interview. Is it as hard to get a tourist visa for Australia as it is for the US?
Actually, it’s not whether it’s harder on not, but it really boils down to how complete your documents are. I believe all embassies would be very meticulous about all the applications they receive, and it is really important to send them all the required documents.
Be it the Australian embassy, the US embassy or the Chinese embassy, they all want to know the same thing: that you are who you say you are, that you have the means to fund your trip in their country, and that you will be returning to your home country.
Proof of identity
This of course, is your passport and your birth certificate.
Proof of sufficient funds
Bank statements, credit card documents stating your credit limit, payslip
Proof that you’re not going to be an illegal immigrant
Certificate of employment if you’re already working or certificate of enrollment if you’re still studying

Pano ka ba mag aaply ng visa, Walk In ba? sa visa application mo pwedeng wag kang mag lagay ng passport info dun sa first page since mag papalit ka and then sabihin mo dun sa kukuha ng documents mo na nag renew ka ng passport tapos tell them the release date. so if I where you, mag renew ka na ngayon ng passport and then pa photo copy mo ung receipt katunayan na nag renew ka and then pag na release yung passport mo balik ka sa embassy to follow up your new passport information. Ganon kase ang gagawin ko ngayon and un din kase ang sinabi saken nung tumawag ako sa kanila…second process visa ko na ito..

Good day Ms. em, thank u for this post..pero may tanong po ako. I have a problem regarding COE. I am working online, my company is overseas. so pwd ko syang gawing homebased. HOwever, my company can’t issue me COE, d rin alam ng manager dito sa pinas kung ano gagawin to prove that I am employed. Anyhow, everymonth or minsan weekly we are required to attend meetings for reports, evaluations and etc…the company has no office here in the Phil but employees hold meetings in a resto. Our salary is sent directly to our bank acct wala din kami p-slip…ano po ba magandang gawin regarding dito.

Maybe, just get a letter from your employer indicating that your are an online teacher and ask your employer to give specific months kung ilang taon or months Kana nag wowork sa kanila..

Margie kelan ba exact expiration date ng passport mo? If you think is still 6months valid then maybe you can try but to be safe tawag ka sa kanila. Ako alam ko law na hindi na sya 6months valid so bag decide na ako na mag renew even without their advice
hello Em thanks for the concerned I called the Au Emb, today and I ask about my passport they said Au is alright as long as your visa and passport is valid in time of your stay in Au. and If im going to renew my passport and already have visa with my old passport i can request/ submit the form 929 thats they advice me , so some airlines lang naman ang ayaw mag allow if your passport is less than 6 months on your travel but the they said no problem with it, so i have scheduled to pick up my doc tom or thurs. hopefully ma grant uli and this will be my 4rth time to fly to Melbourne, I miss my F and he wants me to be there soon. To Marian, kahit na wala kang proof of property gaya ko na approve naman as long as u have strong ties na babalik ka dito sa pinas. at kapatid u naman ang maghandle all the cost of your travel. Good luck sa atin.

Hello Em, I think yes 6 months tv requires medical. so 6 months ang inaaplayan mo? I think u have to wait from the emb.they will forward you a Medical HAP number to bring to the Medical Clinic acredited sa Au emb. Ako din nag lodged . friday na pick up ng air 21 so nag renew ka na rin ng passport mo?
Oomargie nag renew na ako nung first week of January pa kukunin ko sa 27. So wait ko nalang ung Medical request.. Ilang days na ung result nung medical?. At magkano?

I am currently employed, I am a freelancer editor online and my company is overseas. Pwd ko gawin ung work homebased. They can’t issue me certificate of employment. Hi Em, Medical as far as I know is 2800, wait for the Emb send you HAP number to bring to the clinic acredited to Au Emb. So gamit mo pag apply is old passport pa? may results agad ang medical they will inform you latest 4pm if something wrong. sila na ang mag forward ng results sa emb. Goddluck sa atin for sure mine will be deliver to emb mon or tuesday for sana grant pa rin tayo. saan ka sa Melb. I go with the buss trip when i was there with filipino community.

Hello Margie, hindi makitra ung verification ng new passport ko sa VEVO though nag update na ako nung january 28 pa.. Is it okay na wala akong copy ng verfied passport since electronic naman. Hindi din kase ako pinadalhan ng email..approve ang visa ko ang gusto ko lang makita kung successfully verified ung new passport. Kung sino din ang nakakaalam please paki inform naman ako. Thanks

Ang sabi nila i just need to check sa vevo and print to have a copy. And i don’t need to go back sa embassy. Nag call din ako sa embassy yesterday and they said it’s okay not to have a copy I just need to bring my old and new passport and the visa notice grant na Nareceive ko. Sa Tuesday na ang flight ko and i still can’t open the vevo to check my details so worried ako.. I still want to check the vevo to be sure

hello sis depende kasi sa humahawak ng application natin …standard processing is 1 month , dont worry sis granted yang visa para sa mama mo, antayin mo nalang on the way na yan… yung sa akin nga matagal umabot ng isang buwan kapatid ko ang nag invite sa akin dati… ok lang kahit natagalan basta granted yung result… good luck

hello majoy….sa adelaide nakatira sister ko doon ako nag stay yung partner na nahanap time na bumisita ako sa sister ko taga paralowie sya…if one day ma grant yung PMV taga paralowie na ako…ako nga nag resigned na ako sa work ko dahil sa pag punta ko sa oz pinagpalit ko talaga….mission accomplished naman nahanap ko yung lalaking nakalaan para sa akin… ang sarap doon no, alam mo marami akong naging kaibigan dito sa blog ni miss nina doon kami nag kita kita ng personal…ingat!!

raine check mo sa bookelt andun lahat requrements for pmv at madali lang sis no need na ang agent.. kaya mo nman yan as long as gather mo lahat reurements for pmv.. maglike ka din dito sa page kasi dyan qo nlaman lahat.. anaway.. puedi ka mag submit sa via center or pick up2 courier lang raine…. di mo na kaligan pang pumunta sa manila f malayo ka…. ito pala ung link sa forum.. basahin mo lahat dyan.. its a big help..

Raine no worries share ko lang ang mga nalalaman qo. im pmv applicant sis naglodge aqo last august 2013., still waiting, nag email kasi ung co ko sabi niya finalized niya today app qo. pero stil waiting parin, half day lang ang embassy ngayon wla pa din nga ako na receive na text o email.. sana ma recieve ko na ! anaway sis about sa tanong mo.. magkapareho lang yan sis.. pero tingnan mo ung requremns for pmv prospective marriage visa.. ung spouse at pareho lang din requrements for pmv pero may nkadagdag na marriage certificate .. ung de facto nman is ungparang live in sa atin na hindi kasal pero dapat na complte mo ung requrements na stay kayo togther for 1 year….
ako sis sa cebu kasi aqo nakatira, sa via center ko sinubmit ang docs ko then ang via na din bahala mag send \sa docs mo sa ustralian embassy manila.. f walang via sa inyo f malayo, puedi ka tumawag sa embassy for schdule pick up ang docs mo then bibigyan ka nangreference no, para ung courier pupunta sa inyo para pick up ung docs at cila na din bahala ipdala sa manila.. afterf ew days mag send text sau embassy recieve nila ung docs mo after few days makarcive ka nang acknowledgement letter for ur medical at na attched din ung nso at cenomar na para kunin mo online at don ka magbayad sa bdo. mag email ang esensus sayo.. na deleverd na ung nso docs mo sa embassy… basta always mo checkk ung email mo sis, kasi through email kasi cila mag communicate sa atin sis.. after 8 weeks mag ka co ka na!.. hope it helps..

certification residency,baptismal certificate and form 137 e kasi late registerd ako sis.. kaya kailangan baptismal, form 137… statury declaration din sa dalwa.. sa kuya qo at sa kaibigan qo then birth cirticate nila.. barangay clearance, pasport ko, ten any itinary ticket ko na noong pumunta ako sa oz, then nbi clearance travel abroad, pics namin togther at sa f ko pics niya with my family and pic ko din sa family nang f ko.. then chat conversation namin, engagement ring picture..call log in text messages..

Rache sino ba sponsor mo? boyfriend mo ba.. f bf mo ang sponsor ok lang na wala ka show money na ipakita sis as long as ung sponsor mo may trabaho or bank statement na ipakita at isulat niya sa invitation letter niya na siya bhala sa lahat during stay mo sa oz. ako twice na aqo nka punta sa oz pero nver ako nagsubmit nang show money sis.. nge wala nga ako pera sa account… gawa ka nang intent letter sis..

Sa PMV ba required sya tlga… And sis ung number n mag inquire lng muna about visa alam mo ba, dba tatawag k muna para ipaalam n gusto mo mag apply ng visa. Australian embassy number yta sorry sis dko n kc tlga matandaan ang number nila. And dun sa tourist visa need ko ng show money buti pala dito sa PMV hindi n kailangan:) … And sis ano ung NOIM?
