Cheap guesthouses in Boracay

If you’re headed to Boracay this summer, here’s a guide that I hope would help you in planning your trip. Before December, I’ve always thought that the cheap accommodations in Boracay were all at Station 3. I was so glad to find out that there are reasonably priced rooms in Station 2, and near D’mall too!

Guide to cheap accomodation in Boracay Station 2

Obviously, this map is not to scale.

If you’ve been to Boracay before, you would probably be able to gauge the location of this alley. If you’re a first timer, don’t fret! I’ll be giving directions on how to go there, and a list of the resort’s contact numbers.

From the jetty port in Cagban (Boracay Island), ride a tricycle to D’mall. The driver will drop you off across the entrance. Head down the path between Julie’s Bakeshop and Budget Mart. You’ll come upon the Ferris wheel. Continue down the path between Lemon Cafe and Cindy’s, going on until you’re at the main beach road, between Aria and Cafe del Sol.

Soak in the sight of the turquoise waters and feel how fine the white sand is on your feet. Turn left, and walk down the road. You’ll pass Hey Jude (they have wi-fi) and Gasthof (they have the best baby back ribs in Boracay and awesome breakfast set). You’ll soon come upon this massage place that has a group of their female masseuse out front, chanting out their “cheer” to entice customers. When you pass Mango-Ray, look up, and you’ll see a sign for Sheena’s resort. Right beside it is the ES Pascual Store:

Boracay 02

Right after the store is the alley. If you’re coming from Station 3, this is what you’ll see:

Boracay 03

The alley itself looks like this from the beach road:

Boracay 04

And there you have it! You’re in a place where you can get rooms for as low as Php 1,000 in the lean season (or even during regular seasons if you get a discount). Save for Sheena’s resort, all the accommodations in this alley are very affordable (Sheena’s rooms start at Php 3,000 per night for two).

To further assist you in your quest to find cheap accomodation in Boracay, here’s a list of the contact number of all the guesthouses in that alley:

Again, here’s the video I took of the walk from Tans Guesthouse to the Boracay white beach:

In 00:03 you can see the staircase of Jerome Bungalow in between the pillars, in 00:04 you see Eriko’s House, 00:05 is Madid’s Inn and at 00:06 Jejsellends is at the right. At 00:12, see the palm tree? That’s Villa Simprosa, right across Taj Guesthouse, which starts at 00:15. At 00:26, the guy at the right is inquiring at Sheena’s reception desk, while across it, at 00:27 is Namaste. At 00:32, you can see a reception desk for Villa Simprosa at the ES Pascual Store. At 00:37 is the beach road and at 00:42 is Sheena’s Resort and Restaurant’s beach front. On the left of that is Tans Grill, which only opens at night. The beach proper starts at 00:52.

I hope this helps you in picking out where to stay in Boracay. Have a nice trip!

    Hi,

We are going at Bora on March 4-7 2010. We are currently asking for help of Ms. Marilou De Los Reyes to find cheap room to stay there. She recomended us the Madid’s Inn and charged us for 1500 per night good for two. Is that cheap enough considering that we are going there at peak season?

Another thing is that is the port going to Boracay close at midnight our flight sched is March 3, 2010 @11:10 pm. Can we travel direclty ko Catiklan from Kalibo or better yet wait for the morning of March 4, 2010 so that we can assure our safety?
Could you help us also on how much would it cost for travel in van or bus from Kalibo to Catiklan? Boat to Bora? and trike to resort (Madid’s Inn).

As per ms. Malou the policy of Madid’s Inn is that we have to deposit 50%cash for downpayment and the remaining would be given when we are already there. is it safe to do that? How can we assure that they will confirm the payment?

Please help us as we are going there together with my 5 other friends and this will be our first time to go there. We dont know what would be the things that will happen there so its like an adventure for us.

    Thank you so much.

Yes, i’ve been to Boracay in 2007 and stayed at Sheena’s Resort for P1,500 (room for 2) during our first and that was in April (HOly week) which is peak season. We were offered to transfer to a bit alrger room at P2,500 and it’s still honestly very cheap compared to what i’ve expected/budgeted

    Hi nina,
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences through your blog/website. It is where i’ve come to learn about cheap guesthouses in Boracay, and subsequently able to stay in one of your recommendations, the Taj Guesthouse. My friends & i have stayed at Taj twice already, 1st on Aug 2009 and another at the height of tyohoon Ondoy. On both occasions, the staffs of Taj were very friendly & accommodating…the Family & their Deluxe Rooms were at par from other guesthouses i have stayed into during my previous visits to Boracay. Unluckily though, we couldn’t get room reservation from Taj for our March 12-14, 2010 Boracay weekend anymore, because it has been fully booked, as what Ms.Joan replied to my inquiry. I’ve just sent an inquiry email to Ms. Net of Tan’s guesthouse if they still have available room on those dates.
This just comes as an added testimonial for your very good & reliable recommendations to above guesthouses in Boracay. Again, with much thanks & appreciation for your kindness.

hi! last october10-13, 2009, we were in boracay, we stayed at tan’s guesthouse. this year, we are scheduled our boracay trip on july 12-15, we were able to avail the P1 fare of cebu pacific, we only pay 297/person round trip via kalibo. cool! unfortunately, tan’s guesthouse has increased the rates, even they gave us 20% discount, still the accommodation is too pricey. until i discovered jerome’s bungalow. it’s just besides tans. we were able to get a room with kitchen at low as 2,500. cool!

Your blog is so informative. I’m scanning for cheap hotel/ inns in Boracay when I came across your blogs.
Me and my hubby will be spending my birthday in Bora. Our travel period will be from July 2-5, 2010. It will be our first time in Bora. Can you recommend the best place to stay at a very affordable rate and how to go to the island. We’ll be arriving at night July 2 in Kalibo. Is it still safe to travel at night and to cross the island at night? Do you think we have to wait in the morning to travel?..

I am just wrapping up an amazing month on Boracay. I would suggest Trafalgar Cottages (http://www.trafalgarcottages.com) or Frendz Resort (http://www.FrendzResort.com)

Both were amazing. Frendz is a little more money but has a great atmosphere for meeting new friends. Trafalgar is a great price and very clean. Both were awesome stays and highly recommended.

    Happy Travels,

    hi nina,
thank you very much for this blog.. it is very informative and helpful, esp. for the first-timers in Bora like us…. I just wanted to share that I was so happy that I was able to book a room in Tans Guesthouse for the Holy Week and they did gave me very affordable rate, eventhough it is High Peak season in Boracay. Although, we will be roomed in Namaste, it’s fine with me as it is nearer to the beach and was advised that it has the same amenities with the Tans Guesthouse… well, I can’t contain it… I’m sooo excited to be in Boracay as it will be my first time with my hubby and my baby…:)Cheers!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi, I’m not sure what time the first ferry leaves Boracay to Caticlan, but if the regular ferry isn’t operating yet, you can probably arrange for a boat to take you to Caticlan. The trip only takes 10 minutes or less, depending on the weather condition.

Hi Nina! I went to boracay last June 2008.. it was almost 3 years already. My friends and I stayed in a bungalow type villa near station 2.. it was i guess a 70-100-m walk from our villa to the white beach. The problem is, i forgot the name of the place where we stayed. We had it for about P1,200 per night and as far as i remember, the other villa near it just cost P1,000 per night with free breakfast. My question is, do you know any villa in boracay near station 2 cost the same? My target travel date is on the 1st week of June 2011. Tnx!!! Btw, nice blog ๐Ÿ™‚
