I am not a visa officer, nor am I migration agent. I am in no way affiliated with the Australian Embassy Manila nor with the Australian government. This post comes from my experience with preparing and submitting visa applications for family members and for myself. Also note that this entry pertains to my experience in applying for an Australian tourist visa in October 2006. The Australian immigration update their forms every 3 months. I will try to answer your questions the best way that I can, but bear in mind that a lot has changed since 2006. If you ask a question I’ve already answered in the post, I will ignore you.
One of the questions people ask me when I tell them I’ve been to Australia is if it’s easy to get a tourist visa. Almost everybody in Manila have heard of stories of how hard it is to obtain a US tourist visa: compiling documents like birth certificate, bank statements, even land titles O_O, paying a high application fee, waiting in line for hours for an interview. Is it as hard to get a tourist visa for Australia as it is for the US?
Actually, it’s not whether it’s harder on not, but it really boils down to how complete your documents are. I believe all embassies would be very meticulous about all the applications they receive, and it is really important to send them all the required documents.
Be it the Australian embassy, the US embassy or the Chinese embassy, they all want to know the same thing: that you are who you say you are, that you have the means to fund your trip in their country, and that you will be returning to your home country.
Proof of identity
This of course, is your passport and your birth certificate.
Proof of sufficient funds
Bank statements, credit card documents stating your credit limit, payslip
Proof that you’re not going to be an illegal immigrant
Certificate of employment if you’re already working or certificate of enrollment if you’re still studying

sa part mo, ok na yung coe, leave approval, at passport mo. though before they require for Birth Cert through Ecensus but when my sister lodged her tourist Visa March 12, 2012, hindi na siya nagpasa ng BirthCert or hindi na nia pinasa yung Ecensus receipt nia as per our agent advised and she got her Tourist Visa granted and at the moment we are both here in OZ. Kase for Tourist hindi na raw kelangan, but in my case, i still submitted my ecensus receipt because i lodged Fiancee Visa as well. (pinagsabay ko fiancee visa at tourist)
sa bf mo, aside sa nabanngit mong documents, kelangan rin may maipasa ka either passport biopage nia Or birthcert nia, kase actually on my first Tourist visa application, wala ako pinasa na passport ng bf ko, birth cert nia lang and i got approved pa rin, tpos, copy ng chat nio, pwedeng tonight or bukas, yung chat conversation nio copy paste mo lng sa MS Word then print mo na, tpos print ka rin ng webcam images nio on YM Webcam or Skype.. or kung nagpunta nba siya ng pinas before and have had pics together, okay un.

Hi every one, im happy that the air21 will deliver my granted visa to Australia today, im so much happy. i lodge it last april 26 and not its May 12, its only 17 days when i lodge the application.
When my husband called them every week, one of the staff told him that the Embassy usually have a list of granted visa every friday, so i think its better to call them every friday, it will be helpful,

hi Nej!when you got you passport stamped, did you get the NO FURTHER STAY condition?kasi if that is the case it is not possible to get an extension unless of course for a very valid reason and that you need to coordinate with the embassy…that’s what i know i hope it gave you a bit of info… 🙂

hi, i just submitted my documents for tourist visa to the diac of australia,After lodging the application, i was instructed to call the NSO help line and request the NSO birth certificate to be sent directly to the embassy.They dont accept hard copy hand over to them. But this only applies with australian embassy and i am not sure if that applies to all. So better check it out with the embassy of which country you wish to go..
yung processing time na binibigay ng embassy talaga is 15 business/ or working days upon the receipt of you application and you will receive and email if they already received your application if you opt to communicate with them visa email…go to ecensus.com to apply for birth cert and click Australian Embassy as the recepient…

yes, you can apply earlier for tourist visa. kase valid for 6mos naman yun, though last year, 1 year yung validity..
i think ok pa rin ipasa yung school documents mo and i think that will make them realise na uuwi ka tlga.. just indicate in your visa application na yung date to visit your bf is not after oct though after oct nmn tlga.. lol.

girl i think better not to tell anything na lng about your graduation especially if you indicate that your graduation is on October.. that “may” give them the idea na you may leave the country after your grad and never come back.. your school record is enough..
your sponsor should just indicate that you are going back home before your visa expires (dont tell any reasons na).. but INCLUDE your school record dun sa mga documents na ipapasa mo.. that will give them the idea na uuwi ka nga for your studies… 🙂

Hello, I’ll share my experience for those who have plans to apply. The courier picked up my docs on March 19. I didn’t hear from the embassy at all during the first week. I followed up at the call center on March 30 and I was informed that the embassy received my docs on March 21. I got a text from the courier on April 9 saying that the docs are ready to be returned. I asked them to deliver it to me on April 10. I got a visa grant notice of a single entry tourist visa! Yay! I’m visiting my boyfriend and spending a two-week holiday with him. I’m very excited!
I submitted the following docs:
– COE where HR has indicated my cOmpensation, tenure, position, approved leave days, and date of return to work
– latest ITR
– bank cert worth 130k
– credit card statement showing credit limit of 130k
– life insurance policies (2)
– travel history stating where and when I’ve been for the past 5 years outside the country. I’ve travelled to Singapore, HK, Macau, and the US (4x). I also have an unused NZ visa which I showed them
– Ticket confirmation (PAL)

ask ko lang po if ang applicant for tourist is a housewife like me, is it ok to show my husband’s credentials instead? (Husband’s COE and ITR tapos my own bank statement,my own credit cards,my own certificate of property kahit di po kasama sa travel si husband? Plan po kasi namin ng mom ko na magbonding ng 7 days sa australia so maiiwan dito sa Philippines ang father ko, my husband and my 5 year old son. Meron napo tourist visa si Mom ako nalang po ang wala pa kaya kinakabahan ako
i think po kahit hindi na. your own bank statement, credit card and own prop cert is enough na po. and to prove the embassy that u’re going back to PH is magsubmit ka po ng pics nio together with your hubby and son.. 🙂

You can’t lodge it yet this month kase po nagbago na validity ng Tourist Visa, before one year po. this year, 6months na lang.. But you may start gathering your documents na po ready for lodgement..
Since you are planning to visit your bf sometime in December, i think you can lodge your application either month of August or September. Pag kase Ber month na medyo peak period na rin sila.. So I guess August or Sept is best.

Hi Jirah, anu na ulit yung inapplyan mo? Kase pag 3month Tourist Visa, they will not email you or phone you to submit more documents, kase automatic na YATA na denied yun. Dapat girl hindi mo muna pinasa.. pero if you want, you may email them na lang and ask kung pwede nila i-accept more of your documents. anyway they reply nmn within 24 hours.

Hi po, i think po for first timers like you (if i am not wrong) it’s better po na mag apply muna for 3months. Then po, if you want, or if you have plan soon to get a fiancee visa, you can start from there na po. Like I did, i was first on a 3month Tourist Visa, then I got engaged here in OZ, then my fiance and I wanted na mag apply na ako ng Fiancee Visa para pagbalik ko, I can be with him longer na. So if you have the same plans with mine, ok lang.. :)Kase hindi naman ganun kahirap igather requirements ng Fiancee Visa basta single kayo pareho. Waah andami ko na nasabi.. pro alam mo yung mga naging friends ko na through this site, most of us, or if i may say, all of us, started 3-month Tourist Visa then level up to 6months, Fiancee Visa, yung iba, Spouse Visa.. depende na rin sayo yun girl..
Sa requirements for Tourist Visa:
* completed 48r form
* passport mo
* passport biopage OR Birthcert ng BF mo
* Invitation Letter with his signature stating that he is inviting you and will support all your living expenses and accommodation, including round trip air tickets
* Western Union Receipts/Money Bank Transfers kung meron
* Proof Of Communication (Pics Together/YM chats/Webcam images)
*Proof na babalik ka dito (Approved Leave of Absence sa Work/School Documents/Proof of Strong Family Ties – Pwedeng pic ng whole family mo)
actually for as long as maprovide mo yung mga necessary docs ok na. I didnot submit any bank statements. and some friends i knew from this site did not submit as well and we got approved. my sister who is a first timer, did not submit any bank statement and got a granted visa rin and she’s with me right now in OZ.. 🙂

hmmmmmmmm i had problem about my visa lodgement…my bf send his all papers needed for the visa through EMS phil post last may 14,2012, pero noong tinatanong ko ang phil post when ko mareceive ung doecuments nya sinabi na 1 month pa daw…hindi na poh ako makahintay ng 1 month kasi hindi na ako makahabol sa kasal ng kapatid ng bf ko sa australia…pwde ba isubmit ko kung inemail nya na invitation letter (with signature), passport detail page na may stam and signed ng justice of peace ng queensland, ung bank statement nya na may sign and stamp ng bangko nya sa australia, certification nya na binigay at verified ng employer nya at contact of lease ng bahay nya…please help me Fay…kompleto na kasi ung papers ko ung sa kanya nlng ang hinihintay ko…thanks…ako poh un si shyn sa FB na friend mo…

then my fiance started the letter with “I am writing to confirm the application of (my name, my date of birth, and passport number) for Tourist Visa..kinopya lng nmin sa google yung format.. 🙂 and it worked naman 2x sa applications ko.. 🙂

About sa letter, ang ibig kong sabihin yung letter na gagawin ng mother ko para sa tourist visa nya, parang Cover Letter… dahil i-explain pa nya kung bakit sya pupunta dito at kung anong date ang balak nyang pumunta dito at bumalik diba? san ka nga pala sa australia? ako sa perth.. 🙂

aah.. nakadalawang Tourist Visa na kase ako and never ako nagsubmit ng cover letter. Sinama ko rin sis ko at ako nag ayos ng documents nia at wala rin kami pinasa na cover letter and we got approved nman. Sa form 48r naman nakalagay my part nman po dun where in you have to indicate your planned date to leave the country. Then may question din where you are required to answer or indicate your purpose of travelling to Australia.. 🙂 Sa proof naman na uuwi si Mum mo, kung may business or employed si mum mo pwede nio isubmit yung business documents/employment records (Approved leave of absence, COE, etc) as proof na uuwi sha to attend or manage her business/go back to work. Or in case namn na wala po, pwedeng reason is “close family ties” by submitting a family picture.. 🙂 and as sponsor, you may indicate po dun sa invitation letter na you are assuring the embassy that your mum will go back home before/when the visa expires..

Hi ms fay or ms nina, Nakakatuwa talaga ang site na to.. very informative at nakakatulong. , lagi ko binabasa yong mga post dito hoping na mgkaroon ako idea sa processing times even the embassy said it will take 15 working days.I just applied for 3 months tourist visa as well pero hanggang ngaub wala pa rin ako results. nakakakaba lagi ako tumatawag para mag inquire kung ano na status nang application namin ng baby ko. ngaun hapon daw yong 2nd batch ng mga results around 5:30 pm. Sana maka pasa kami. My fiance’s mom and bestfriend will shoulder all the cost, expenses and airfares. Meron narin kami ticket dahil ni request nang company ko bago nila ako bigyan ng approve leaves and coe. 15th of may yong schedule ng flight namin ng baby ko. Nong april 23 narecieved documents namin ika-10th day na ngaun. I hope yong proof of earnings ng bestfriend ng fiance ko would be enough and statutory declaration ng mom nya pero transmitted via email lang hindi sya orig documents, would be enough.Ano Sa tingin nyo miss nina or Ms fay? I was granted a tourist visa last Dec 2011 and just got back last March,with my Australian boyfriend as a sponsor. Now i’ve applied for another 3mons tourist visa,but this time with my son. Where my son carries his father’s last name,and since he abandoned him years ago, i can’t get any consent from him,which was needed on the application form. I’ve lodged our application last Apr24 and still waiting for the result. I’m wondering if there’s anybody here who was in same exact scenario like me and got their visa approved.. Any information will help.. Thanks guys!

I think that should be ok as long as you declare your single parent, you need brgy clearance that you are solo parent and you need to pass it to the DSWD,you may need to get Identification card from them.
as per visa 676 check list it says there:
If one parent, or
person(s) with parental responsibility, has lawfully been made
solely responsible for making decisions as to where the
child/children is/are to live, then only that parent or person
needs to sign the consent form.
therefore if you have declared you have sole responsibility you don’t have to get consent from the father of your son who abandoned you both. You may need to declare your sole responsibility using the form 1229.
Hi Shine!thanks for the response.i didn’t pass any letter or docs from DSWD since i thought children only needed that if they are travelling with other person other than the real parents.. but anyway,i don’t have a court order yet saying i have the sole responsibility of our son,i only had an affidavit signed and notarized by a law officer and that’s what i passed together with the other documents,and also sent them a cover letter stating our situation. was just wondering if it’s good enough for i really want to take my son to Australia this month.. but then again,thanks Shine for the reply..gave me a little more hope.. 🙂

I have enough money in the bank and a business here that can support my studies in australia. the only problem is that i dont have an ITR. i can provide them business permit and bank certificate except ITR. Is it possible that i can get an approved visa without ITR?

when i applied kase first time, i was still working, kaso nung nag attempt ako magrequest ng 3months leave sa company ko, di ako pinayagan. so ang ginawa ko, i declared unemployed ako. then nung na grant visa ko, saka ako nag resign from work. 2nd application ko, unemployed rin, sis ko rin, unemployed kase katatapos lang din job contract nia, pero na-aaprove din..
In your case, since not working and stop sa pag-aaral, ito yung mga sa “tingin ko” dapat mong gawin..
Sa invitation letter from your sponsor, dapat niya iindicate or i-assure ang embassy na uuwi ka ng pinas on or before your visa expires, plus maliban kase sa approved leave from company or school record (proofs na uuwi ng pinas) which you cant provide po in your case, pwede po ikaw magsubmit ng “proof of family ties” — magsubmit ka po ng family pic nio.
wag kang mag-alala, kase i have lotsa friends from this site of Ms Nina na na-approve na nagdeclare na “unemployed” at dina nag-aaral at na-approve ang visa.. Magdasal ka lang.. tapos basa basa ka muna ha ng mga previous/older comments kase marami ka makukuha na mga ideas/sagot sa mga tanong mo.. 🙂

Girl yung itinerary ang kailangan mo iprint at ipresent sa airport.. ano ba Airline mo? Kase kung PAL, according sa mga friends ko na bf nila nagbook/purchase ng tickets nila, bale aside daw sa itenerary na ipepresent mo sa pag check in mo, yung PAL daw eh nag-aask pa daw ng copy of credit card ng bumili ng ticket mo.. pero ako kase, pinadala lang saken ng bf ko pambili ng ticket at sa pinas ako nagbook. kaya di na ako hinanapan. so halimbawa na sponsor mo nagbook sayo at inemail lang sayo itinerary, baka pwede mo rin ipaemail na rin sknya scanned front copy ng creditcard nia kung via creditcard nia bnayaran, or scanned copy ng receipt at iprint mo at ipakita mo airport. or pwede ka rin magdala copy ng invi letter nia sayo which he indicated dun na he’s going to shoulder your air tickets.. ganun daw kase nangyari sa mga ibang friends ko. or, pwede mo nlng tawagan bf mo pag ayaw maniwala ng agent sa airport at ipakausap mo nlng sknila. hehe.

I’ve first visit this site march of 2010 but it was just recently that we applied for the tourist visa, it took me exactly 15 working days. visa granted! I applied last april 21’2012 and that’s Saturday but I am so lucky they are open. I lodge the application to the DIAC office in. Pasay road in makati.address is also on the application forms checklist. The embassy receive my documents Monday April 23’2012. The number given there to check the status for processing will only tell u if it is subject for release or released and if docs returned to your mailing address. You will received atext if the embassy received the docs after you logde it, air21 the courier will be the one to send the second text if your documents are ready to be delivered, you’d wont received any information from the embassy unless you call them. grant notice is included on the package. I pass western union receipt, approve leaves Coe,itr,payslip for 6 months, 2months bank statement, bank cert of deposit, managers check, we only have 147,000 and that has been deducted already. I have some support letters from my fiances friend who shouldered my tickets and insurance and his latest income statement,my fiancé provide me his land title copy only and invitation letter, my fiances mother invitation letter and statutory declaration only.tip with the bank deposit should not exceed your gross annual income as per the travel agency.

I read from your previous post that went through an agent to lodge your application. ganun din kase ako on my first,second,and fiancee visa applications. So si agent mo ang makakareceive ng acknowledgement letter(email/text) kung nareceive na yung application mo. Mlalaman mo lang kung denied or approved kapag nag follow up ka sa agent mo, OR once you received the parcel. Their hotline agents kase wont tell you if refused or granted. On my first Tourist Visa, scanned copy Visa label ko yung sinend saken ng agent ko when i did follow up for the status of my application. sa second ko nmn, forwarded email from the embassy informing my agent na na-approved yung visa ko.. 🙂 and this time, i really am hoping na when i get back to Philippines, i will not have to wait very long for my fiancee visa.. and i keep hoping and praying nasa approved.. 🙂
By Monday or any day nextweek cguro may result na sayo. And i do hope na granted.. 🙂

If you have time to go to the VIA office in Makati, you can drop your application with them. If you don’t mind paying for a toll-call to the hotline and having your application and documents picked up and delivered to your home/office, you can also go through that route.

My case naman po is ganito naka pag travel na ako sa australia which is sa perth western au. 3 months ang naging visa ko nun so last year october to jan 2012 siya. this time kasi mag aapply ako ng panibagong visa ung 6 months multiple entry kasi ung bf ko new zealand citizen but permanently na nakatira sa perth because of his business and dun nadin siya nakabili ng bahay. possible po ba na pwede un ang gawin kong reason is pupunta kami new zealand to visit his mama na 85 years old na… ung requirements na susubmit namin same padin last time na nag apply ako ng visa which is hawak ko na ngaun pinadala ng bf ko from tnt express kaya lang nag dadalawang isip ako kun pano ang gagawin. ayaw ko madenied this time 🙁 please help po i need your answer.

Ask ko po, why would you like a multiple entry Tourist visa for 6months if you can stay there naman po for 6months straight? And i am not sure or wala po ako idea if you can go multiple entry for 6mos tourist visa. I think multiple entry only applies to 12months/1 year. Dko po talaga alam sa 6months.
Wala naman cguro problem if you go 6months this time, basta nakauwi ka nmn sa pinas on time before nung first punta mo.
pro regarding sa reason to travel Australia, be very careful, kase po I have a friend na galing po dito sa site ni Ms Nina na nadeny yung application nia po kase yung reason nia to travel is to take care of his aunt na galing lang sa operasyon but of course he will do it for FREE.. But you know, strict ang immig.. So they kinda thought like his purpose to travel is kinda like “Caregiving” which is of course care giving nga for his aunt pro dba strict kase sila. Ayun..
I think, best reason to indicate na lang is, “to spend more time with my BF and his family and friends and to see MORE of Australia. Yan din kase naging second reason ko sa 2nd Tourist Visa ko and i got approved naman kaya lang 3months lang ulit inapplyan ko.
Same documents/requirements lang, pro shempre yung chat history dapat yung latest na.. 🙂
