I am not a visa officer, nor am I migration agent. I am in no way affiliated with the Australian Embassy Manila nor with the Australian government. This post comes from my experience with preparing and submitting visa applications for family members and for myself. Also note that this entry pertains to my experience in applying for an Australian tourist visa in October 2006. The Australian immigration update their forms every 3 months. I will try to answer your questions the best way that I can, but bear in mind that a lot has changed since 2006. If you ask a question I’ve already answered in the post, I will ignore you.
One of the questions people ask me when I tell them I’ve been to Australia is if it’s easy to get a tourist visa. Almost everybody in Manila have heard of stories of how hard it is to obtain a US tourist visa: compiling documents like birth certificate, bank statements, even land titles O_O, paying a high application fee, waiting in line for hours for an interview. Is it as hard to get a tourist visa for Australia as it is for the US?
Actually, it’s not whether it’s harder on not, but it really boils down to how complete your documents are. I believe all embassies would be very meticulous about all the applications they receive, and it is really important to send them all the required documents.
Be it the Australian embassy, the US embassy or the Chinese embassy, they all want to know the same thing: that you are who you say you are, that you have the means to fund your trip in their country, and that you will be returning to your home country.
Proof of identity
This of course, is your passport and your birth certificate.
Proof of sufficient funds
Bank statements, credit card documents stating your credit limit, payslip
Proof that you’re not going to be an illegal immigrant
Certificate of employment if you’re already working or certificate of enrollment if you’re still studying

why go to thailand when you can lodge it here?? for as long as you have all the necessary documents needed then why waste money and time going to thailand just to lodge? LOL!
but still, it’s your prerogative.. but if i were you, lodge it here..
you have 3 options:
1. lodge it yourself (direct)
2. lodge it through an agent (i can recommend you my agent, Ms. Adele of Ausphil Consultancy Services)
3. Go to Thailand and lodge it there..

well, my friend din ako, na galing din dito sa site ni Ms Nina, bale kasal siya sa iba at hindi pa annuled/dissoleved then may bf siya na aussie pero at nagkaanak sila.. so nung pumunta sila sa OZ last October, she was able to process yung citizenship ng anak nila ng aussie at yun, okay nmn.. then what she did nga since hindi sila pwede magpakasal ni aussie kase hindi pa annuled at mahal nga raw, so she applied for a Spouse Visa (Defacto) and inaantay na lang nia result ng visa. She went through an agent (ako rin), Ausphil Consultancy (Ms. Adele).. so yun.. inaantay nlng nmin results..
Baka Vinz pwede ka rin mag defacto nlng after mo sa tourist..

Processing time range from 3 working days to 30 days. It depends on the volume of applications the embassy received when you submit.

Makakapag-apply ka and possibly get a granted visa without going to Thailand or without going to the Embassy. What i mean is, if you are not within Metro Manila, say you are in Davao or Cebu,or anywhere na medyo malayo dito, you ca just call the embassy to request a courier to pick your documents.. 🙂

I was already been in Perth first time tourist visa last December 2011 at this week lang ako nakauwi. I just wanna know if kailangan pa ba magpa.appointment sa embassy bago ka pupunta para maglodge? Hi, i am so happy i found this site, i’m still going through the comments to get more information it is very helpful. my friends wants me to visit them and have a 2week vacation there in Melbourne,all my expenses there will be paid by them including my accommodation,food and plane tickets,im just worried about my documents because, i’m married and still on the process for annulment, although i haven’t changed my status, all my documents are still with my maiden/single name. will it be ok if i use all those documents? i never used my married name, up to now my passport is still single and never married.

Hi Liz,
There’s no problem using your single maiden name. All you need is NSO live birth (single), passport, invitation from your friends, stat dec from your sponsor, bank statement (sponsor), copy of passport of your sponsor, your employment certificate and leave of absence to insure that you will come back after your stay will expired. JUst be careful when your filing the form too be sure you are single in there don’t make any complicated statement in your form too. I hope these helps. Cheers!
May dagdag pa ako..Dati kasi online ako nagawork kaya yong statement of account ko based on paypal withdrawal statement so I printed it out in my history in paypal so no worries about your statement of account. You can do that way. Cheers!

You can try. But I would suggest that you adjust it to at least one month after you lodge your application. You can leave anytime naman after you get the visa.

in my experience, ive been to aussie for 21days, i only hv 105thou in my bank account, and you must have an invitation from your sponsor to shoulder all your expenses in your stay in aussie. just dont know now how much would be needed to be granted…
hi there. actually i never presented any bank statement when i first applied. and some girls na galing din sa site ni Ms Nina who are already my friends didnt submit any bank statements din and we got approved. we are on our 2nd attempt na, and my friend who applied again na wala rin ulit bank statement eh nagrant ulit and she’s enjoying now in OZ, and ako, i am on my 2nd application and this time isasama ko sis ko (her first time) wala kami prinesent na any bank statement. ang importante lang nmn eh yung invitation letter from your sponsor plus yung proof of funds nila like bank statements, payslips ganon. then yung proof mo na babalik ka dito s pinas like leave approval from your company or any school record..
i got 520k on my bank certificate and 3 months bank statement un usually hinihingi..

yep pwede yun. yun nga ginawa ko eh. i applied fiancee and tourist visa (2nd attempt) at the same time.. so inaantay ko nlng approval ng tourist visa ko so yun nga matagal nga raw. will take a month this time. peak period kase.. pero sa fiancee visa max of 6months pero if you are able to present all the necessary docs at wala nmn problema, pwedeng magrant within 2-4 months. ayun.. so sana magrant yung akin ng ganon kadali since nabigay ko nmn lhat.. naganntay nlng ako for medical sa fiancee visa at results ng tourist visa nmin ng sis ko.

Pero it is still best kung may iprepresent na bank statement. pero sa mga sponsored ng bf, ako kase, when i first applied at pati ngayong 2nd attempt ko po, wala ako pinasa na any bank statement even my sister. bf ko at mom nia nag sponsor samen ngayon so pinasa lang nmin ay:

bank statements of my bf and his mum
driver’s license of my bf and his mum
western union receipts ng mga support ni bf saken at sa sis ko

Guys, address nio pa rin po kay Ms Nina mga questions nio. Kase she knows better po. Yung mga sinasagot ko po ay base lang din po sa experience ko at sa mga friends ko in group.

I was unemployed as well the first time I lodged and the visa was granted. I am just now waiting for the approval of my second application which I lodged last week. How bout you provide them a copy of your government membership ID i.e. SSS or Pagibig and the original copy of tax return from your previous employment. That’s what I did the first time. Good luck on your reapplication and keep on hoping with optimism.

hi,Marian, when I applied for my visa I was also unemployed and was granted, you just NEED to prove that you’ll be BACK in the country. maybe your lacking some attachment in Philippines.. I think they have all the EXPLANATIONS in the LETTER they sent you why they denied your visa application.

miss nina, mag e email ba sa akin ang embassy if may kulang akong supporting documents?like my picture with my bf, ym chats, western union receipts or ung statutory declaration from my bf,,,kasi i didnt submit those documents..sigh.. what i submitted is only my certification of employment which is contractual,my passport,and my birthcertificate…while my bf sends me his invitation letter, the details of our relationship,the receipt of payment for my application as he pays there,,and his bank account,,,yun lng ang pinasa ko…pls help me guys wat to do, kulang kulang ba ang pinasa ko?…tell me ano dapat kung gawin…i applied the 3months visits only(actually 1 and half months) lang as i need to be back at school in june…thanks guys,,,PLSS HELP….SALAMAT TALAGA, GODBLESS TO US
hi ate jean..base po s mga nbasa ko comment d2.the embassy needs all documents that will proof that you too know each other..and western union receipts,letter from him,picture of you both together,statutory declaration even skype or ym chats are needed as proof..try to contact the embassy or their help desk..they know more how to help you..maybe you can send the other documents kz your papers are still on process right?

they gave you a receipt db..andun un numbers nila so you can call them and it charge 32 pesos per minute..gudlak satin..im waiting for my result too..wishing all of us will be grant our application

An update, I’ve just received my approved visa today, 29 March which I lodged on March 12 and received an acknowledgement from Embassy on 13th. Thank God i’ll make it in time for a friend’s wedding :).

what visa are you applying?for what i know,u should be the one na kelangan maglodge ng application not ur friend..u should lodge it in the via center thru pick up,by an agent or ikw mismo..for other info be patient to read the previous comments..it will help you a lot..

hello Shorty, hindi naman gaanong kahirap mag apply as tourist visa, kailangan u mag gather ng mga necessary documents… As u can read on the previous post kaso medyo na malayo pa e retrieve ang mga old comments dito…. i have been to Oz kahit la akong work. ikaw pa na may work diba.
From bf: invi letter, statutory declaration,bank account that he can support wjile you there, i.d. nya as Oz citizen, passport copy, mga bills like internet, electricity, water and ang katibayan he owned a house or stay in a apartment.
From you: Form 48r,nbi/police,travel insurance, western union or any other receipts money received from him, passport,COE kung meron, bank account/receipts kahit la pera ok lang,photograhs(both of you),email, skype or ym messages,if he comes here to visit you collect those any receipts, he’s immigration stamp xerox it serve as an additional evidence for your doc’s, No need mag agent but if you want i can refer you to Ausphil Consultancy 5th lang mura at sigurado. they may grant you a 3-month Tourist Visa pero anytime na gusto mo na umuwi, ok lang. like for instance, you only want to stay there for 2 weeks or a month, ok lng yun. what important is, you dont OVER STAY. You should leave OZ not longer than 90days.

hindi mo pwede gawin yun, kc iba ang type ng tourist visa natin though tourist visa tayo..kapag na received mo na visa mo my naka attached sila na no study, no work and no overstay, kya lang tyo na grant is bec my fiance tayo dun, except kung nag apply ka ng tourist talaga without a sponsor.
Yun ang pag kakaintind ko sa difference ng tourist natin.

Yes, someone from Air21 will contact you. Or you may call the embassy to check if narelease na documents mo but they will not tell you the result whether granted or refused. you really just have to wait for the documents and see for yourself.. 🙂

on my first trip to OZ, i had my flight through PAL. but this time, i will fly with Qantas.I compared all the Airlines fees and Qantas is the cheapest. And here’s my tip.. If you wanna fly with Qantas, book directly from them, not through Travel Agency. I called a travel agency and asked for the price and there was an additional 9k fee. Unlike if you book directly through Qantas Manila, kung ano yung price online, yun din. You do not have to visit their office in Makati. You just have to call their office.. And pay/deposit your payment through their bank account.
Well Qantas is just an option though. You may still want to consider other airlines.. 🙂 Good luck, have a safe trip and have fun!

I am also applying a tourist visa subclass 676, actually this is my 2nd time kc nagapply na ako last year.
I called the Call Center for the lodgment of my visa application on March 19 and they sched the pick up on March 21..but the assigned courier picked my docs here on March 23 already..:( On March 28(6 pm) I got a text confirming that my application documents has just been received by Australian embassy. And from then on, I hear nothing yet from them. 🙁
While browsing the net, I came across this site one again and read your posts. While reading I can’t help to be sad for I guess that I might get the result on the last week of this month or on May already..running short of time once again..for I will just be until on the first week of June in Australia.
Anyway, to all the applicants..just keep on praying and things will be alright. Goodluck!
