[Update: September 15, 2014] Philippine passport holders can now apply for an Australian tourist visa online through the IMMI website. Application fee must be paid via credit card. You can still apply in person through VFS.

I am not a visa officer, nor am I migration agent. I am in no way affiliated with the Australian Embassy Manila nor with the Australian government. This post comes from my experience with preparing and submitting visa applications for family members and for myself. Also note that this entry pertains to my experience in applying for an Australian tourist visa in October 2006. The Australian immigration update their forms every 3 months. I will try to answer your questions the best way that I can, but bear in mind that a lot has changed since 2006. If you ask a question I’ve already answered in the post, I will ignore you.
One of the questions people ask me when I tell them I’ve been to Australia is if it’s easy to get a tourist visa. Almost everybody in Manila have heard of stories of how hard it is to obtain a US tourist visa: compiling documents like birth certificate, bank statements, even land titles O_O, paying a high application fee, waiting in line for hours for an interview. Is it as hard to get a tourist visa for Australia as it is for the US?
Actually, it’s not whether it’s harder on not, but it really boils down to how complete your documents are. I believe all embassies would be very meticulous about all the applications they receive, and it is really important to send them all the required documents.
Be it the Australian embassy, the US embassy or the Chinese embassy, they all want to know the same thing: that you are who you say you are, that you have the means to fund your trip in their country, and that you will be returning to your home country.
Proof of identity
This of course, is your passport and your birth certificate.
Proof of sufficient funds
Bank statements, credit card documents stating your credit limit, payslip
Proof that you’re not going to be an illegal immigrant
Certificate of employment if you’re already working or certificate of enrollment if you’re still studying

Wrong timing ang punta namin ng sis ko sa embassy dahil today(27) pala cla lumipat. 🙁 Napuntahan na din namin ung new office at nachecked(ni sir na nandun) documents ko at ok daw. We decided to stay here in manila until monday to lodge the documents. Sarado kasi sila 27 and 28. Sa mga maglo lodge, don’t worry dahil hndi naman daw makakaapekto sa proseso ang paglipat nila dahil inaayos naman ang system sa 2 days nilang pagsasara. ok na din ung office, naka set na.

Anyways, A male friend of mine (for 10 months now) is an Australian citizen, single & entrepreneur, invited me last May to come to Sydney, Aus. He is my sponsor & paid the Agency to assist my travel needs. I submitted my Cert. of Employment & Compensation, Approved Leave of Absence, Photos, Certificate of Admission/ Enrollment in a Doctoral Program (from one University here in Phil.), E-mails of our communications. My sponsor also submitted his documents to the Agency (which I don’t know kung anu-ano).
The agency will lodge tourist visa application this Monday na. I am not expecting to much on the outcome of this to avoid much disappointments, but please help me pray ha??? Thanks.

Hi Miah… thank you for dropping me a message. Regarding your question, eto yung sinubmit ng Sponsor ko as per advise ng agency namin:
1. Letter of invitation (stipulating his intent to take care all my travel, financial and some other needs).
2. All the required DIAC forms (some are taken cared by the agency).
3. Proof of Australian Citizenship (Including government ID’s and National ID card).
4. Business Registration and Permit/s (Australia-based).
5. Income Tax Statements, Property Tax Reports.
6. Bank Statements (savings and checking accounts) for the past 2 years until present.
7. Bill Statements (Electricity, Credit Cards and others).
8. Bill Statements (Phone) indicating his Name there & phone number and YOUR phone number must reflect there too (as proof of your relationship).
9. Receipt of Remittances.
10. Email communications at least the past 8-6 months (as proof of your relationship).
Our agent said that the approval will depend on the case officer at ang weight daw talaga nagpag-approve or deny is not so much on the Sponsor but OUR Credibility as tourists.

@halfblood: oo u need to pay departure tax.. sa naia lng un. 1thousand 6 hundred plus mga 1700 na tas terminal fee 700. ung lng .
1620 yung tax tapos 550 yung terminal fee…D2 na ako sa OZ ala namang naging prob
ohh ok … its more cheaper now.. since oct 2011 .. kc its 700 before and 1700+ for departure tax.. better! i have my visa granted n pala

kung tourist visa ang plan m na i apply ok lng kahit ikaw nlng mag lodge. for tourist ang minimum as far as i know is aud5900 if you will be sponsored. pero i think kung sa sarili mong bank account without a sponsor pwede n mga 150 thou. pag sponsored k kelangan m ng invitation letter,bank statement ng mag ssponsor sau tas kung may work k employment certificate tas approved leave. this is just for 3 months.

Hi JM, hindi naman mahirap. Basta maipasa mo ung mga requirements at makumbinsi mo sila na babalik ka d2 sa pinas and you’re not a risk, sure na maga grant application mo. Dont forget to make an intent letter kasi dun mo mae-explain un. Attach ka ng supporting documents if meron taz ung ibang requirements basahin mo mga comments d2 dahil dun mo malalaman gaya ko na sa pagbabasa nakakuha ng idea ng mga requirements na dapat ipasa. Hindi naman kelangan sobrang magaling mgsalita ng english. As long na nakakaintindi ka at kaya mo naman mgsalita ng english kahit papano, ok na un. Gudluck and Godbless sayo 🙂

September to December are peak months at the VIA center. Maraming applicants for visa. It would be wise if you lodge your application as early as now. I lodged my application for 6 months tourist visa October 24, 2011 and got my visa December 3, 2011.
The VIA center receives bulk applications of visa on these months.

Hi Marie,
I got a message from my case officer thru SMS and email that I need to get chest x-ray on the third week after lodging my visa application. If you are applying for 3 months, you will not be required to have a chest x-ray.
i haven’t receive my request for xray. im applying for 6 mos. they just processed my application for 11 days. i dunno what happened .. my docs are now with air21 i havent had it yet due to the weather.. was sent by the embassy to the courier last aug 6.im really nervous….

Finally I’m done lodging my application today 🙂 thanks to you Ms. Nina & to all ladies here coz I got all info and list of all documents I submitted..It’s so funny coz my feet are shaking while I’m talking to the call center agent coz I’m bit nervous but Thanks God I made it..I’m hoping & praying that they going to grant me a visa..So stressful and nervous waiting for the result.Good luck to all of us here and hopeful that everybody grant their visa

Hi Donna, I just kept on reading all the post in here then I got all my documents checklist from here..Its really a big help coz its my first time to apply a TV for 3 months..after I completed my documents..I start to lodge my application yesterday via Phone-In/book for a courier service coz I’m here in General Santos City..I didn’t go to Manila instead I called on Call center..U need to bring with u all your documents as your reference..After an interview portion, the call center agent will going to give u an instruction for the pick up of ur documents via AIR21 together with ur reference #. then u need to pay 320php.
Here’s the list of documents that I submitted:
From me:
48R form, manager check,passport,2 pcs passport id. NBI clearance, itinerary ticket of me & my bf travel together,holiday vacation pic together, emails,cards( as a proof of your relationship)
Intent letter,family pictures,my mom medical records,sister residence/working visa( as a proof that i will going back to Phil,since i stop working right now)
western union receipt
From Him:
Invitation letter, copy of his passport,driver license, statement of bank account, work pay slip, taxation records,credit card limit,phone bills.
all documents from him is just scanned documents but have a stamped & sign by the justice of peace in Oz. I hope it would help u this Info..

i enjoy reading the post as it help me a bit with my situation. i’m currently waiting for my visa. i lodged it last july 18 and received by the embassy the following day as they texted me. i feel bit nervous now because they told me that the processing for the tourist visa is just 15 working days to 1 month. by the way i applied for 6 months tourist visa. i’m still waiting for my health referral that i will use for my chest xray as the embassy needs it because i’ll be staying in OZ for more than 3 months. up until now i havent receive it yet. anyone knows when i should expect to receive it?
i already submitted the neccessary requirements like invitation letter , bank statements of my fiance as he will sponsor my trip,and the proof of his identity. and tom i will submit my COE hopefully it will be just in time. im working in a call center about to get regularized but decided to leave the work to be with my fiance.
last year, sept i got my 3 months tourist visa successful. crossed finger and praying that i get approved again this time around and goodluck also to all you girls who are waiting and to those who are planning to lodge theirs.

Hi hylyno2, Girl you can find answers from this site. Just go through the post here. Some of the girls here gone through good agencies and they were granted. If your willing to pay.Its much expensive going through agencies though. I did it myself. There post here to guide you how to do it on your own. 🙂 good Luck.

Take MRT then get off at Magallanes Station. Take a jeep going to PRC, get off at Dela Rosa Street then walk all the way to Salcedo Street. Ausphil is at 5th Floor Builders Center Building, Salcedo Street, Legaspi Village, Makati.
I haven’t been to Ausphil and I have never availed their services, I searched for the name of Ausphil in google and found their address.

HI po sa lahat, Single entry lang po pag 3 months.. My visa is only good for 3 months and single entry. Our visa soon to expire, paalis na sana kami nang baby ko nong aug, 10th. Dahil sa baha at ulan sa amin di pa ako makauwi at my bagyo pa sa susunod na mga araw. The problem is my visa has the condition 8503 of no further stay.Im working on the Waive of the condition for us to extend our stay. Sana magrant. And on the day that my visa expires i have to apply for Bridging visa to lawfully stay in australia and another tourist visa. Just sharing incase you might have the same problems mga sis…

Hi Gc, just got home from perth immigration office, yes we were granted of 1 month bridging visa E. We havent applied for further stay as a visitor yet.We will wait if the immigration will waive the condition of No further stay that we submitted. If that condition is waive we can apply for tourist visa while in australia. if not waived we have to leave australia before the bridging visa expires. We are also advise to see the immigration after 1 month. 🙂

7 working days after ng xray na-grant yung visa ko. It took 24 working days processing before my 6 months TV was granted.
