[Update: September 15, 2014] Philippine passport holders can now apply for an Australian tourist visa online through the IMMI website. Application fee must be paid via credit card. You can still apply in person through VFS.

I am not a visa officer, nor am I migration agent. I am in no way affiliated with the Australian Embassy Manila nor with the Australian government. This post comes from my experience with preparing and submitting visa applications for family members and for myself. Also note that this entry pertains to my experience in applying for an Australian tourist visa in October 2006. The Australian immigration update their forms every 3 months. I will try to answer your questions the best way that I can, but bear in mind that a lot has changed since 2006. If you ask a question I’ve already answered in the post, I will ignore you.
One of the questions people ask me when I tell them I’ve been to Australia is if it’s easy to get a tourist visa. Almost everybody in Manila have heard of stories of how hard it is to obtain a US tourist visa: compiling documents like birth certificate, bank statements, even land titles O_O, paying a high application fee, waiting in line for hours for an interview. Is it as hard to get a tourist visa for Australia as it is for the US?
Actually, it’s not whether it’s harder on not, but it really boils down to how complete your documents are. I believe all embassies would be very meticulous about all the applications they receive, and it is really important to send them all the required documents.
Be it the Australian embassy, the US embassy or the Chinese embassy, they all want to know the same thing: that you are who you say you are, that you have the means to fund your trip in their country, and that you will be returning to your home country.
Proof of identity
This of course, is your passport and your birth certificate.
Proof of sufficient funds
Bank statements, credit card documents stating your credit limit, payslip
Proof that you’re not going to be an illegal immigrant
Certificate of employment if you’re already working or certificate of enrollment if you’re still studying

hi rheniel, first time ko lang din magaapply ng TV sa australia. I plan to lodge this week. I ask the assistance of Miss Adele. Yung mga docs na isusubmit ko are these:

from my sponsor (my bf’s father)

-western union receipts wherein my bf is the sender and i’m the recipient (just to prove that i am really the gf of my sponsor’s son)

Antayin mo lang Gc. Baka madami ang nag lodge ng applications for TV. Nung first time ko nag apply for TV, October 26 ko ni-lodge then na-grant ng Dec. 3.
Your case officer will contact you through mobile phone and will send you the details where to have your x-ray. The x-ray cost P1,500 last year.
If you have queries about your application, you can call VIA center.

Ang importante naman ay na-grant ka ng TV kahit 3 months lang.
Kung may conditions na “”no furthey stay” ang visa mo hindi ka pwede ma-grant ng bridging visa.
Hi po, felicity . Tama si halfblood pag emergency kahit may no further stay na condition you will be granted a bridging visa, Like mine, my visa expired last august 16th. Dahil sa bagyo at baha na cancel yong flight namin ng baby ko. At dahil 1 yr palang yong baby ko, they consider the fact na delegado sa bata ang baha.
Gc bago magexpire ang visa dapat Maka pagrequest ka muna ng request to waive the 8503 “no further stay” pero 4 weeks pa ang result. pero atleast kahit hindi pa na wewaive yong condition they will grant the bridging visa for you to remain in australia lawfully. It will depend on what case you do have for them to grant you a bridging visa.

You are right, bridging visa is only granted on emergency cases, however not on a regular basis. If you don’t have valid reasons, you will not be granted. As for your case, since it involved the welfare of your kid, they granted you bridging visa. The reasons have to be real “emergency” not just because you wanted to extend your stay in Australia.
Maybe you will be granted 3 months TV. Hope for the best, Gc!

Hindi bago ang location ng Australian Embassy, nasa Ayala pa rin ang embassy nila. Ang VIA center ang bago ang address. Ang VIA center ang office kung saan ka magla-lodge ng application mo for visa. Hindi tumatanggap ng application for visa ang Australian Embassy sa Ayala.
Ang bagong address ng VIA center ay nasa 3rd Floor, Allegro Center
2284 Chino Roces (formerly Pasong Tamo) Extension Barangay Magallanes, Makati City 1232. Sakay ka ng MRT baba ka ng Magallanes Station. May terminal ng jeep sa tapat ng Alphaland building. Sakay ka ng jeep baba ka ng Lumbang Street then hanapin mo ang Allegro Center.

Super suwerte mo girl kung ganun lang pinasa mo at ni walang intent letter pero still na’grant application mo. That means very considerate ung case officer na naghandle ng papers mo. Ang bait naman nya. Ako ung sa tingin ko ay kailangang ipasa ay ipinasa ko talaga dahil gusto ko ma’grant application ko. Sayang kasi ng time, money, and effort dba kung mapupunta lang sa wala so i made sure na maga’grant at na’grant nga.haha! Nagpasa ako ng letter of intent kahit sabi ni bf na parang dna daw un kelangan pa. Sa letter na un ko lng kasi mae’explain at makukumbinsi na babalik ako pinas before my visa expires. Bukod sa supporting docs meron pa akong ini’attached na supporting docs din sa letter.hehe..
Yes Janice I am lucky pero sabi ni BF di na daw kailangan yun sa 3 months tourist visa since the sponsor is australian citizen and they will be responsible for all the expenses but you are right to make sure na ma grant attach dapat lahat ng supporting docs…para walang masabi…Cguro din kasi yung sponsor ko sa government nagwowork dito kaya ganun!.pangalawa na to ganun lage pinapasa ko…

Lavander to obtain managers cheque kailangan may bank account ka taz dun ka mag request ng managers cheque kahit saang branch where u have an account pag wala ka namang account pwede ka makisuyo dun sa may bank account for example dun sa kapatid mo or pinsan of friend like what i did since my bank dont issue managers cheque nakisuyo ako sa sis in law ko…pero dapat siya mismo mag request may bayad yun sa iba 100 sa iba naman 150…

Im sure grant yan di naman sila masyadong mahigpit ngayon depende na din sa case officer na may hawak ng application mo pero sabi ng director sa BF ko as long as ur sponsor can provide everything during your stay no problem!..Embassy will send you a text when they get your application so start na ng sleepless nights mo soon!..hehehe

yes, dito pa po ako singapore.. more than 2 years na po ako dito work.. uwi po ako this aug. 30 pra i-lodge po sana yong application ko.. kaso, hindi ako makakuha ng police clearance dito kung walang official request letter ng embassy na ngre-require for clearance..
Yung police clearance naman supporting doc lang naman kaya ok lang kung wala kasi for my tv wala naman ako sinubmit na kahit anong supporting docs….lahat ng sinumbit ko na docs galing sa sponsor ko yung sakin lang passport saka yung application form. Pwede ka namang jan nalang mag apply ng tv ahhh since jan na nagwowork..Mas mabilis pa jan pag kumuha ng tv.
@halfblood, nabuh ayan naman po ako sa sinabi nio na passport at application lang pinasa mo.. ako po kasi walang intent letter.. TV po inapplyan ko for 12 months multiple entry.. pero d po ako expect i grant ung 12 months.. kahit 3 mos ok lng po.. nagbaka sakali lng po ako.. hehehe.. hayyy ..nkaka stress,.. sana ma grant ako ng visa.. 🙂

Before you get married, you need to:
1. organise an authorised marriage celebrant to conduct your marriage ceremony
2. give notice of your intent to marry using NOIM form. you can get it here on this link below. (http://www.justice.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0005/7529/bdm-notice-intended-marriage-form.pdf ) or the marriage celebrant have it as well.
your marriage celebrant can lodge it for you. This should be sign by both you and your partner in front of your marriage celebrant. After that your marriage celebrant will book you your date of marriage.
3. produce evidence of your identity to the marriage celebrant ( passport)
4. produce evidence of your eligibility to marry to the marriage celebrant
be of marriageable age. (birth certificate)
You can be married even in a tourist visa in australia how ever that doesn’t grant you automatic residency. You have to apply offshore if you have the no further stay condition on your visa for permanent residency or spouse visa.

Hello JD, go over with your visa kung may 8503 condition which is “no further stay”….kung meron man, pwede ka magpakasal dito sa OZ pero sa Pinas ang lodgement ng Partner or Spouse Visa which is subclass 309. You can waive the 8503 condition kung may valid reason kayo ng bf/partner mo, at kung ma-waive nyo yan, pwede kayo mag apply ng spouse visa dito sa OZ a week or 2 before mag expire ang TV mo, that is kung kasal na kayo.

Sabi sakin d2 sa site sa VIA center ang office kung saan ka magla-lodge ng application for visa. Hindi tumatanggap ng application for visa ang Australian Embassy sa Ayala. Kala ko nga sa australian embassy ipapasa eh.sa via center pala. 1st timer din kc aq. ung link na binigay ko sau andon ang address nang via center at magkano babayaran. add mko sa fb nlng. Molly Monique Malaki taga Orion, Bataan aq. msg mo na lng aq para pm ko sau number ko..

Hi Jbelle, ETA online visa applications are only limited on some countries at hindi kasali ang PH sa eVisitor Eligible passports so wont work for us Filipinos. Kailangan mo ng docs from your BF like this…

Yung iba kasi scan lang pinadala sa knila thru e-mail on my case original docs pinadala ng bf ko thru courier and yung invitation letter hindi hand written print out in a with address of your bf sa taas and tel number and signature sa baba yung pang business letter format..since peak season na by october and november mas better to lodge your application mid of september or end of september..Goodluck Belle!..

kpag ng apply ka nang Tourist Visa kahot 2 to 3weeks ka lang itatak pa din sa visa mo ang 3months kapag granted.. iun kasi alam ko base sa mga nka experience na.
ung mAnagers check sa banko mo un mkukuha.. ako kc my account sa BPI. Bank of the Philippines Island tas nag deposit ako nang pera sa account ko tapos nag request ako nang managers check. e2 gnawa ko tas nakakuha nman ako nang MC. friends taung lhat d2:) ang babait nga nang mga nand2 sa site eh! 🙂 gudluck!

Yes Molly was right kahit 3 days ka lang 3 months TV pa din makukuha mo kasi 3 months yung minimum TV na ini-issue nila…and yung TV hindi nakatatak sa passport like other visas, sa bond paper lang siya naka print out taz may nakalagay na Visa Grant Notice..
ok na yun kahit maintaining balance dun mo ideposit yung 5300 saka ka mag request ng managers cheque..

Hello girls, aaaaam about dun sa topic niyo girl FYI lang hindi po pwede mag pakasal ang using TV visa here in australia meron akong friend na nakilala ko d2 sa perth ganyan ang ginawa nag pakasal siya d2 pero ang dating illegal kahit na ang nag kasal sakanila is me karapatan na magkasal bakit kamo kasi holder siya ng tourist visa kasi ang tamang processo ay kumuha ng PMV prospective marriage visa step by step yun girl.. yung friend ko naka BAN siya sa australia for 3 years at nag bayad sila ng AUD10,000. nahuli sila kasi after nung kasal nila bumalik sa pilipinas after nung visa niya tapos nag file ng partner visa. un hinabol ng immigration ung bf niya till now di pa siya nakakabalik d2 nag 1 year palang na nangyari yun, girl before ka mag decide na magpakasal kumausap ka muna ng mga tao sa immigration as in. kasi in the first place nung nag apply ka ng TV alam mo ung mga rules nun. advice lang JD pag usapan niyo mabuti kasi minsan ang reason din kung bakit madaming na dedenay na Tourist Visa is yung mga history nung nag apply noon. Mabilis lang ang mag process ng PMV or Fiance Visa me kilala nga ako 1 month nakuha na niya lalo kana na nakapunta na dito 🙂 im here in perth ang VIsa ko is 1 year multiple Entry Visa maximum of stay 3 months so need ko mag exit every after 3 month 🙂

Hi Piona, im Caselyn, im Married to an OZ, kakauwi ko lang ng pinas yesterday after ng 3 months tourist visa sa Perth Australia, and with in this week or next week, mag aaply ako ng another tourist multiple visa for one year para mahaba maba yung pag sasama namen , then ilolodge ko yung spousal visa pag nagrant na yung tourist visa ko, kase sunduin ako dito ng husband ko sa pinas and that time na yung plano nameng ilodge yung spousal visa, PEDE PO BA YUN? curious lang po.
Anu po ba yung mga requirements na pede nameng iprepare for spousal visa?kailangan po ba na yung chat or conversation namen sa yahoo messager ipiprint out ko lahat? eh ang dami po nun, more than 2,000 pages po. panu po yun?

Hi, just want to ask kung yung mga documents ko coming from my sponsor in australia has to be certified copies. or ok na ung scanned documents? sa mga nakapaglodge na certified copies po ba yung sinubmit nyo or scanned documents lang? The docs im referring to are my sponsor’s passport, tax receipts, payslips, credit card statement. thankyou sa makakasagot.
Scanned lang din sakin pinadala lang din sa email yong mga docs girl.. yong sponsors passport,colored yon girl. para kitang kita mukha… pag may stat dec kahit scanned ok narin yon… 🙂

Hello. Good Day po. I have a huge question regarding TV. Kasi I’m currently working here in Saudi Arabia and I’ll have my vacay on Nov. I’m planning to apply for a TV in Australia. I don’t have any relatives living in Aus nor any friends who can sponsor me. I just want to treat my mom on her 50th bday by travelling with her to Aus.
Ang problem namin is where to lodge our application since I’m still here in Saudi and she’s in the philippines. Kasi I am planning to lodge both our applications in the Ph. Kaso sa research ko, they need my passport which I can not give right away. May nakita din kasi ako na they accept certified true copy of the Identification part of the passport.
Tapos, okay lang ba na wala pa akong any itinerary or booking kasi nga di pa naman ako sure if they will grant me the visa? And I don’t have any credit card but I have sufficient funds naman for my travel and sufficient docs na I don’t have any intention of staying. We’re just planning to roam the cities of melb and sydney for 2 weeks tops.
If anyone could help me or give any person who my mom can contact in the philippines to help her fix the visa is gladly appreciated.

Hi Minibee, kung may kasama mama mo sa house nyu pwedeng sila nalang tumulong, just have to call VIA centre to pick up your applications di na need pumunta dun to lodge it. 320PHP pick up and return na yun. About passport naman ok lang na certified true copy of your passport since they dont put visa label on your passport they just printed it out on an a4 bond paper. About sa itinerary naman they dont require it kasi nga di pa naman alam kong granted talaga. If u have sufficient funds doesn’t matter if u don’t have credit card. Hope it helps!.

Hi Minibee, as long as you have sufficient funds for the travel ok lang na walang sponsor basta you can prove to them that you can fund yourself and your mom during your stay in OZ. Yep, gawa ka ng intent letter why gusto nyu mag travel d2 sa OZ isama mo na din anong gagawin nyu pagdating sa OZ ano-anong lugar balak nyung puntahan, sabihin mo na din treat mo for your mom on her birthday kasi gusto niya talagang makapasyal sa OZ something like that!. Ilagay mo dun sa question na yun you and your father just to make sure since u are also funding for the travel. Dun sa police clearance supporting docs lang naman yun db di naman big deal na wala ka nun isa pa proven na wala kang kasalanan sa batas d2 sa pinas kasi nakapag work ka nga abroad.

Di ko alam kung saan mas better mag lodge pero cguro sa PH lalo na kung sabay kayo kasi what if jan ka nag apply at d2 siya nag apply we dont know if you both will get visa granted depende sa visa officer db kaya mas ok kung d2 at one lodgement kayo para iisang visa case officer lang hawak ng applications nyu?.Yes possible yun one lodgement in separate applications…

Yes your bf can sponsor you and he can write an invitation letter, your purpose of going to OZ is to visit your BF. kailangan nyu lang i prove na matagal na kayong magkachat at everyday kayo nag-uusap…heres the docs that your bf need to send to you:

HIndi na kailangan. Ang alam ko pag ikaw mg susubmit, ikaw na yong mg preprepare ng – ” managers check of 5,300 php.”
OK lang din yan kahit 4 months lang. Sa kin pinasa ko last 3 months na Bank transaction and Bank certificate ng current deposit mo. Usually hindi pa bawas yan kahit ng issue pa sila ng managers check. Sa Sponsor mo naman STATUTORY DECLARATION that they are able to support you and or pay for your travel fares and insurance. Meron ka naman western Union receipt kaya ok na yan.
Sa COE naman, if your company cant give any of that ,you can include a letter that your company doesnt give such COE’S for purpose of travel instead you might want to include photos of your family as reason for you to go back home. You need to include as well that you understand that you are not allowed to work and need to go back home before the visa expires. Letter of invite from your relative would be fine too. You can include in your letter as well that you are visiting your relatives.
