[Update: September 15, 2014] Philippine passport holders can now apply for an Australian tourist visa online through the IMMI website. Application fee must be paid via credit card. You can still apply in person through VFS.

I am not a visa officer, nor am I migration agent. I am in no way affiliated with the Australian Embassy Manila nor with the Australian government. This post comes from my experience with preparing and submitting visa applications for family members and for myself. Also note that this entry pertains to my experience in applying for an Australian tourist visa in October 2006. The Australian immigration update their forms every 3 months. I will try to answer your questions the best way that I can, but bear in mind that a lot has changed since 2006. If you ask a question I’ve already answered in the post, I will ignore you.
One of the questions people ask me when I tell them I’ve been to Australia is if it’s easy to get a tourist visa. Almost everybody in Manila have heard of stories of how hard it is to obtain a US tourist visa: compiling documents like birth certificate, bank statements, even land titles O_O, paying a high application fee, waiting in line for hours for an interview. Is it as hard to get a tourist visa for Australia as it is for the US?
Actually, it’s not whether it’s harder on not, but it really boils down to how complete your documents are. I believe all embassies would be very meticulous about all the applications they receive, and it is really important to send them all the required documents.
Be it the Australian embassy, the US embassy or the Chinese embassy, they all want to know the same thing: that you are who you say you are, that you have the means to fund your trip in their country, and that you will be returning to your home country.
Proof of identity
This of course, is your passport and your birth certificate.
Proof of sufficient funds
Bank statements, credit card documents stating your credit limit, payslip
Proof that you’re not going to be an illegal immigrant
Certificate of employment if you’re already working or certificate of enrollment if you’re still studying

Hi Neril, sana di nilagay ng Bf u ang date sa invi letter nya , he just only says i am inviting my girlfriend for christmas season bla bla…. kung nilagay nya doon e follow mo na lang para walang mistake.. And about sa intent letter isulat mo doon ang buwan kung kelan kau unang nagkakilala ,pics nyo, kung nakapunta na sya dito include mo na ang picts together with your family.

Hello Lavender, ask ko lang sa iyo, before ba na deliver ang grant visa mo by air 21, tumawag ba ang australian embassy sayo? kasi ako nag lodge then ako thru pick and august 31 then na delivered sa embassy and now 9/6/12 I got a text that my shipment will be schedule to be delivered 9/7/12 in our place. oh my God, I nervous, i am not sure if its grant ot not, cant wait to recieve it tomorrow.

Hello Lavender I got my Visa Grant notice this noon, i am so happy , I will fly after my son birthday on oct. 6 sa Mooropna ang punta ko. I think 2 hours from melbourne airport, sep. 3 natangap sa embassy tapos na grant sya sa sep 5. ang dali lang pala pag completo lahat ng papers mo. sana kita kits tayo doon, ilan months ka mag stay doon? Yes I’m really praying for that but i can’t relax. Mejo hesitant pa ako sa status ng visa ko. hehe. Naisip ko di kasi nastate sa invitation letter ung date kung kelan ako mageexit ng au pero nakaindicate naman dun pati sa statutory na iniinvite ako for 1month at magbbday doon sa oct.31. And lastly, I’m thinking kng makakaaffect ba sa visa application ko kng ung sponsor ko e wala pang 1yr na holder ng permanent visa. I got my tv granted in 3 days processing, unbeleivable I was really surprised when I got a text from air21 that my shipment is ready for delievery on 9/7/12.I was nervous what the result is because I didnt recieve any call , text or email from emb. Hello ms emma ask ko lang po kasi first time kung magpunta sa au. ang i present lang ba sa airport immig. ay yung paper na grant visa noticed from the embassy with your passport and ofcourse round trip ticket, ask ko lang 1620 pa rin ba ang travel tax ngyun? at terminal pay is 550 thanks po.
Bring invitation letter from your bf sometimes the immig in ph ask about it and yes 1620 pa din yung tax and 550 yung Terminal fee…Have a safe trip soon!

Sobrang inspiring ang mga success stories nyo dito. Nakakakaba ang magwait ng result although meron na yung akin di ko pa nga lang alam if granted or denied kasi di ko pa nakita at kararating ko lang from the province. Pinapakiusapan ko pa ang air21 if puede nila madala ngayon para matahimik na ako. Hahaha. Sana positive ang result ko kasi may nabasa ako sa ibang forum na denied daw. And most of all, sobrang give away na lahat kahit yung iba nagbayad ng agency to process their application nagshare without hesitation sa mga supporting documents na kailangan isubmit. hi guys, i received a text message from air 21 ddeliver na daw ung docs ko from the embassy nagtaka nga ko when i got the text kasi i’ve gone thru agency kaya ang alam ko ung authorized recipient ko ang makakatanggap ng docs. Tinawagan ko ung nagtext sakin he gave me my complete name and address as indicated dun sa iddeliver nya. Tama naman ang street np.,subdivision name and town pero imbis na Sta.Cruz, Laguna sta.cruz davao del sur daw nakalagay. What do i need to do? If i call the embassy can I just ask to change the address or kelangang ung authorized recipient ko ang kumontak sa kanila. Problem is i can’t reach Ms. adele

Hi, rose. It Would be much better if you submit the latest kasi medyo matagal na ang may. About sa question mo kung tatanggapin yan tatanggapin pa rin sya but take note dyan nakasalalay ang pagbigay sayo ng visa sa supporting documents mo na dated ng may pa. It wont hurt if you’ll request sa fiancee mo ng latest payslips, bank statement etc. Sa payment yun ang di ko sure. As suggested better call the embassy para you could get first hand information.

Hi Jessa maybe tax is included on your plane ticket thats why they didnt advised you to pay tax yung ibang airlines kasi ini-include na nil a yung tax like in some domestic flights..OFW dont pay airport tax tourist lang nagbabayad ng tax 🙂

Lack of incentive that I will be coming back home daw. Its sad. Im employed naman lahat ng docs andun. Tapos dahil kahit ni isa wala akong travel which is additional proof daw na mapakita ko na everytime i travel bumabalik talaga ako. Friend ko lang kasi nag invite sa akin. Yun lang sabi kulang ang evidenced to show them that i will be coming back. Other than that wala na and oo pala sa duration daw ng leave ko baka daw maimpede ang operation ng work ko and wala na mabalikan na trabaho. 3 mos kasi nilagay ko.
Ang nakalagay lang kasi sa letter ng friend ko for short holiday lang talaga tapos stat declaration ganun. Ang concern nya talaga is yung kulang daw ang proof that I will return here. Or pinagdamutan lang talaga ako. Hahaha. Andun din letter of intent ko and everything kaso hindi sya convinced na babalik ako dito. Lahat ng sinabi dito naisubmit ko naman.
Hi Christine, Saaking 3 months lang din tv ko.. pero andito parin me.. 4 months na ako dito at nag pa extend me ng stay.. I lost my job back in manila. I asked for 21 days of leave. Completo rin lahat sa akin coe, leave of absence, etc, my medicare etc from my company, I wrote a letter of intent. That even i dont have enough proof of ties. like land or house.. I still have my family to go back. I stated i understood all the policies that i am not allowed to work and should go back before my visa expires.. COe or approve leaves doesn’t guarantee of you being approved.
Kahit friend lang ok din yon, I suggest there should be a letter from him as well, about personal intentions like developing your relationship or knowing each other.. and or him intending to see you in the philippines after your holiday in australia. Its not lying, its just exaggerating the possibilities of getting to know each other that way. Im not sure kung pwede ipareview uli yong tv result and give them more valid reason..

Hi Rose. Yep If ilan lang na leave of absence ibigay sau yon lang din ilalagan mo sa form at sa letters mo or invitation letters. You will still be granted 3 months visa. As long as uuwi ka ng pinas before your visa expires walang problema yon.

Hello sam, I’ve gone thru agency with the help of Ms. Adele sa ausphil consultancy. She lodged my papers august 29, sept.3 nareceived ng agency. And then yesterday I got the news from her that my visa was approved. I can’t guarantee you fast processing, from what I’ve experienced it varies talaga. Some of the people here directly applied without agency pero nagrant naman agad application nila. Tsaka I heard malapit na peak season. So madaming factors yung makakaapekto sa processing ng papers mo. Just make your documents your number one priority. As long as it’s complete and reasonable I’m sure it’ll be granted. This site is very much informative, sobrang bonus na. Every requirements you might need is here, just read on older comments 🙂 Goodluck! Im looking on a brighter side na lang at least i get to experience kung pano mag apply and marefused. Its painful though but its not the end for me and madami ako natutunan dito sa application. hi christine usually short holiday kasi if theres particular occassion na aatendan mo ron kaya ka ininvite like may kasal na friend mo rin or some special occassion mas mabuti siguro wag nyo na imention na short holiday maybe sounds more better if “to spend more time together and meet his family something like that at least no particular length of stay na kelangan nyang i state sa invitation letter..or much better sana kung aabot ng xmas yung vacation mo kasi you can consider the xmas holiday to be there nagka conflict ka lang talaga sa leave form mo usually kasi from work if considerate yung employer max. 1month pero yung iba weeks lang talaga.. ok lang yun at least now alam mo na yung do’s and dont’s so better luck next time stay positive 🙂

Ok lang walang sponsor however, yes sufficient funds and assets or any proof of ties in the philippines has a big impact on your application and possible grant of your visa. Lets say 100 dollar a day allowance while your staying in australia. So if your staying in australia for 30 days you should have 3000 dollars on your bank and not only that the money on your bank acct has to have movement (incomming or outgoing transaction) for 6 months. That’s probably why they include a bank statement to see if there is sufficient funds that is not just deposited to show the money and eventually gone. You might need more if you have to rent a place to stay..sana makatulong.. 🙂

Hi meg, sure you can use that reason (special child) na ikaw at mama mo ang nag keker sa kanya, bukod sa intent letter gawa k na rin ng parang permission letter from your mom that she’s letting you to have a vacation as a tourist na siguradong babalik ka…kc pareho tayo ng situation ako ang carer ng mama ko and she’s my reasons for coming back. Why need the help of an agent sayang ang 5th kc ikaw rin mismo ang kokompleto ng docs mo at ipasa sa kanya at ipasa din nila sa via center… ikaw na lang mag process thru pick up….madali lang at mabilis..

i am here once again po, medyo kabado po ( actually kabado po tlga!) i would like to ask po sana duon sa mga naglodge through courrier, ano po ba tinatanong nila sa inyo kpg tumawag po kau sa centre? sila po ba magbibigay sa inyo ng schedule for pick up or kau po ang mamimili ng date? salamat po sa mga sagot and kinakabahan na po ako kc po planning to call the centre tomorrow. sana po masagot ninyo mga katanungan ko bago po ako magcall.. thank you po and God bless us all
Hi Ces, sila magsasabi kung kelan pipick-upin mga itatanong lang sayo personal info like passport number , name mga ganyn basta personal info taz sasabihin sayo ano gagawin at ilalagay sa envelope ano isusulat ganun lang!..

Hello Fay! Ask ko lang plan ko kasi mag apply ng fiancee visa sa via centre ba ako pupunta or sa embassy? First time ko kasi magaapply. If sa ausphil ba ko pupunta how much yung service fee nila? 5k peso ba? Sa Sydney Australia kasi bf ko plan namen na kumuha ng fiancee visa. Pls help me naman! Hi mhay!..how are you? saan ka dito sa pinas?.. Same pala tau ng situation balak din namin ng fiance ko na mag lodge ng Fiancee Visa or Partner Visa subclass 300. Nagkita na ba kau ng bf mo?..Lagi ako nag aabang dito sa blog ni Ms. Nina kung merong may experienced na nag lodge ng Fiancee visa gaya ng sa atin. Hi Mhay, sa via center ang lodging ng docs, ang service fee ng ausphil sa fiancee visa ay medyo may kalakihan .nakabakasyon knb sa Oz Mhay?Kung first timer ka mas mabuti kung mag TV ka muna, then apply for fiancee dapat naka one year steady relationship na kau.
Hi Mhay sa VIA center ka punta they dont accept applications sa mismong embassy…You can ring VIA center and ask some info’s as well…
hello ms emma, ask ko lang if unemployed and declare ba do i need to get cretification from my work or no need na kumuha pa ako nun. wala kc akong whole family pic so ginawa ko gumawa ako ng family tree with pic from parents sis, bro, at mga individual pic ng mga pamangkin ko. w8 ko lang ng papers ng bf ko din maglodge na ako. i plan na mag agent ako baka kc dun sa application i got mistake sa pag fill up ma dun pa ma deny once na magkamali lang ng knti refused na. nakakaba talaga khit nag prepare palang ng mga docs. iniicip ko kc if mabigyan ako ng 3 mos leave from my work baka d naman cla convince dun kc nsa minimum lang ang salary ko.khit matagal na sa work ko.
Hi Lyn if u declare that you are unemployed di mo na need kumuha ng COE kasi nga unemployed ka but if u declare that you are employed you need to get COE from the company. Kung unemployed nilagay mo gawa ka nalang intent letter to convince them na babalik ka ng pinas. On my case kasi wala akong pinasa na COE kasi last time dineclare ko im working as a tutor, my case officer called me and ask if im really working di din ako gumawa ng intent letter… passport ko lang pinasa ko at form pero kasi yung sponsor ko may advantage siya kasi hes working on government here in OZ kaya cguro na grant visa ko…

Hello Mhay!..dito ako San Mateo Rizal..oo Fiancee visa din kukunin ko, kaya lang first time nya magpunta dito this 24th of Sept. and we are planning to lodge the application once everything is all done. And nagpunta na rin ako dun sa Via Center in Allegro bldg. in Pasong Tamo Makati City. Duon kami mag hand in ng application.. are you still going through an agent?…and magkanu charge nila? Nag woworry talaga ako baka hindi ma grant ung application namin kasi ung length ng relationship namin hindi pa ganun katagal, but he got all needed documents naman, and he said sure naman siya na ma grant ung PMV, pero worried pa rin talaga ako…hehe..sige text kita….anu name mo sa facebook?
Hi Reslyn and Mhay, i think you two will try a 3 months TV first kasi kung pabaka-bakasyon lang pagkikita nyu the visa case officer will doubt about the relationship status nyu if its genuine or not…kasi di pa kayo nagsasama ng matagal especially you Reslyn first time nyu pa lang magkikita sa 24th of September so medyo mahirap nila paniwalaan na yung relationship nyu is genuine…sayang din yung gastos nyu and time of waiting if ever but if u wanted to take risk then go pero karamihan sa nag-aapply ng PR visa nagtotourist muna sila b4 sila mag apply eventhough nga nag tourist yung iba at di pa ganun katagal yung relationship nila nadedeny pa din…Just an advice girls 🙂

Thank you Ms. Halfblood for your advice, I’ll take it into considerations. Sinabi ko na po sa Fiance ko kagabi na mag 3 months TV nalang muna ako but he said PMV na agad, kaya naman daw niya e-convince ung CO na genuine ung relationship namin thru letter writing and besides he is old enough naman daw and kaya naman niya ako supurtahan…Sa ngayon po confuse talaga ako..ung application namin for PMV and all supporting documents ay ready na lahat, so sabi niya sayang naman daw kung mag TV lang ako…Need po talaga ako ng enlightenment and guidance as of the moment….and thank you so much for your advice…!
Hello Reslyn, kumusta ka? pwidi kana man mag apply ng fiancee visa kasi nagmet na kau in person!ma grant visa mo niyan basta kumplito kau ng requirments, babasihan nman dyn ng case officer kung tlgang genuine relationship niyo,,at tingnan mo sa site ng australian embassy about sa fiancee visa,,,,,,, requirments,, piro kung okay naman sa fiancee mo apply kana lng muna ng 3 months tv,,,, paghalimbawa ma grant tv mo, pwidi kana apply ng ibang visa like fiancee visa.just be patient,,, :):) have a bless sunday,,,, i hope these info makatulong sau

I am planning to lodge a 3 months TV, Panu ko po gagawin ung intent letter ko and how will I convinced them na babalik talaga ako dito sa pinas before my visa expires, hindi na po kasi ako nag aaral and hindi na rin ako nag wowork… Anu po isusulat ko dun para maniwala sila na babalik ako?…pwedi na ba ung return ticket as a proof na babalik ako?..thank you!!
