[Update: September 15, 2014] Philippine passport holders can now apply for an Australian tourist visa online through the IMMI website. Application fee must be paid via credit card. You can still apply in person through VFS.

I am not a visa officer, nor am I migration agent. I am in no way affiliated with the Australian Embassy Manila nor with the Australian government. This post comes from my experience with preparing and submitting visa applications for family members and for myself. Also note that this entry pertains to my experience in applying for an Australian tourist visa in October 2006. The Australian immigration update their forms every 3 months. I will try to answer your questions the best way that I can, but bear in mind that a lot has changed since 2006. If you ask a question I’ve already answered in the post, I will ignore you.
One of the questions people ask me when I tell them I’ve been to Australia is if it’s easy to get a tourist visa. Almost everybody in Manila have heard of stories of how hard it is to obtain a US tourist visa: compiling documents like birth certificate, bank statements, even land titles O_O, paying a high application fee, waiting in line for hours for an interview. Is it as hard to get a tourist visa for Australia as it is for the US?
Actually, it’s not whether it’s harder on not, but it really boils down to how complete your documents are. I believe all embassies would be very meticulous about all the applications they receive, and it is really important to send them all the required documents.
Be it the Australian embassy, the US embassy or the Chinese embassy, they all want to know the same thing: that you are who you say you are, that you have the means to fund your trip in their country, and that you will be returning to your home country.
Proof of identity
This of course, is your passport and your birth certificate.
Proof of sufficient funds
Bank statements, credit card documents stating your credit limit, payslip
Proof that you’re not going to be an illegal immigrant
Certificate of employment if you’re already working or certificate of enrollment if you’re still studying

hello rose5254 home sweet home na ako..Departed Adelaide Dec. 17 @ 6AM (Aussie time) & arrived Manila Dec 17 at 5PM (Pinas time) tapos Dec 18 na ako umuwi ng Davao..I miss my fiancee so much.. We were both crying last night at Skype di daw kasi sya makatulog kasi daw pag higa niya amoy ng perfume ko yong naaamoy nya nipilit daw sa pillow akong amoy/perfume hahaha. Sarap pa sana mag stay doon rose kaso my work and my kids are waiting for me. He wants me to comeback February pero mga March – May na ako mag punta rose, this time it will be longer. TV pa rin kukunin ko kasi madali compare to fiancee visa.. Ingat ka dyan rose and have fun while you are still there kay inig uli nimu hilak jud ka sa kamingaw.. Taga Las Pinas xa rose 4 yrs pa lang xa diha sa Adelaide uli lang xa Pinas kay didto mag pasko og New Year. Grabe kasi ang sale diha sa chocolates karon ang dagku na toblerone kay $4 na lang, tapos ang dagku na cadbury kay tag $3.50 na lang. Naa ko mga damit, sapatos og sandal na nabilin didto sa iya balay rose kay mag excess baggage na man ko tapos balik man pod ko next year so ako na lang gibilin.

you may apply anytime naman agad, January yung una, then february yung 2nd, ano daw reason, bakit refused?

hi..need some advise po.. was planning to apply for a tourist visa early next year.. 2times na po ako nakapunta sa australia both sponsored by my sister.. pero this time po planning to apply via centre without sponsor.. okey lang kaya if i apply for 6months? may invitation letter from my sis and her hubby they’re gonna send ung bank statement nila and anything needed pra makahelp sa application ko.
Hi 6 mos. is hard to get specially without sponsor , but if you really want to get 6 months TV wiithout sponsor then you better have heaps of money in the bank and strong motivation to comeback in PHP. and regardless of your invitation letter with them why not declare it that they are your sponsor you might have a chance . Same as what you did before with sponsor…

Yeah its up to them! option for 6 mos .either multiple entry or 3 mos visa or denied ..but. sure they will not let yiu denied coz you’be been in Australia for twice…and you can apply whatever you want..cheers and merry chrsitmas…
Hi, ive been in Oz as well sponsored by my sister and her husband,twice,and currently in australia, on my first application they only give me three months stay with out extension and on my second application, i still applied for three months stay and it was granted for only two weeks, I extend my stay here in australia for another three months and it was also granted, they only required you a chest xray. If you want, apply for TV with their sponsorhip of your sister, its easier. Even if you have a sponsor, I reckon, the Immigration still assess your application like, if you have a strong will to go back in Philippines. Lets say, you have a job or family etc.

Hello, i think much better to call the Immigration here. What are your conditions in your visa? I submit my Tv extension in Australian Embassy through courier while Im still here in Oz. hanapin mo yong form sa visa extension of tv. Goodluck!

Hi neril, no condition of no further stay yong visa ko kaya naka extend ako, i think they usually do put conditon 5303 which is no further stay if its your first time in Australia. And Yes, I did my chest Xray here in Australia. They will email you once they got your application they will give you temporary stay even your visa ceased while your application is on processed. Yup of course as long as you have sponsor and you have strong motivation to go back in Philippines….it could be your family for example…I reckon family is the best motivation for u to go back in philippines…if you don’t have any form of business or properties…

hello..first time ko kasi mag apply ng tourist visa for 6months and wala akong agent..tama ba yung form 48R or yung for general tourist yung kinuha ko na form,pero may sponsor ako yung bf ko which is australian..binigay na nya sa akin yung stat declaration,yung payslip nya and invitation letter….and panu kung wala ako ng land titles or car registration,im a single parent kasi and maiiwan muna sa parents ko yung 3yrs old baby ko,pwede na bang proof yung anak ko na babalik pa rin ako dito sa pinas and anung documents ng anak ko ang kailangan ko i provide…pls help…thank u..
Since It’s your first time to apply I reckon you will apply for 3 months first…about returning in Philippines because your child I am not sure Ohh well as long as you have a strong papers and sponsored then its fine but please 3 months first don’t go over to 6 months and also work your papers by your self don’t rely to an agent

Hi, maybe you could also make a Letter of Intent to the immigration. Some here, includes photos of their family like in your situation, you have a child, I think the dox you need to submit is here birth certificate.

happy new year everyone! i need a little help lang po. Recently I was granted a single entry tourist visa for 3 months. But the problem is, the itinerary that I’ve submitted to the embassy was that i will arrive in Australia first, then fly to NZ after 3 days, and then will go back to Australia and stay there for another 4 days before I go back here in the Philippines. Therefore, the embassy supposed to be issued a multiple entry for me because I will enter to their country more than once. meron po bang mga taga darwin or nearest to darwin airport sa inyo? kasi ang balik ko sa pinas e sa march 10.im from queensland, will travel from brisbane on march 10 at 12.20pm then arrive to darwin airport at 3.20am. then my connecting flight from darwin to manila e at 3pm pa. so i have to stay very long (from 3.20am to 3.pm) sa darwin.nkakainip nmn. ang tagal ng stay ko sa darwin airport.sna may mkasabay ako na ganito din ang flight time back to manila para may kausap ako.

I’m telling you ire-refused lang nila yan.. advice ko sayo patagalin mo muna stay mo dito sa pinas kasi nangyari na sakin yan.. haha ang sakit lang tanggapin..kakaapply ko lang nun mga ilang buwan na din ang nakakalipas .. kakabalik ko lang from Aus and then after mga ilang weeks my bf decided na ako na lang pabalikin agad agad ng aus instead our original plan eh sya mag stay dito ng 3months.
pero kasi tourist visa talaga eh di parang pag ginusto mong bumalik ka agad agad although sabi naman eh pede kang mag apply pero sabi ko nga mag stay ka muna ng ilang months.
Pero kung decided ka nasa sa iyo na yun.

Napaka helpful ng site na to, somehow nakakuha ako ng mga ideas on how to apply for TV in Aust. I have a questions lang po, hopefully meron nakakaalam po dito na pwedeng mgshare.
Im planning to apply for TV, like with others talagang nangangapa ka pa ng info,. I have a sister in Aust PR na sya doon. Ako naman, may work dito pero hindi naman kataasan ang sahod so parang doubtful na makayanan ko ang gagastusin.
Is it possible na ang sister ko ang mgsponsor skin, kasi for sure wala naman ako mapakitang bank statement hehe, pero Im planning na dalhin ang isang anak ko na 4 years old.

Hi Neril..In my case di ako nag attached ng NBI noong mag apply ako ng TV last Sept at granted o approved naman TV ko.. The Australain Embassy gave me 3 months TV pero more than a month lang ako doon.. Umuwi ako ng Pinas before Christmas… Good luck and God bless..

Hello, I didn’t include anything about family, I study a short course here so I just include like my schedules for school, letter from school and the course outline etc. i also submit my return ticket to philippines as well as my visa notice. I reckon when you get here in Australia, call the immigration, it depends din kasi sa status ng applicant. Im here in BNE QLD. Where destination mo in Oz? Is it your first time?
What do you mean 6weeks stay only? I think you can extend since you have no “no further stay” condition. But sometimes, it depends on the reason or whatever. Not sure! Well, try mo lang. But best is call the immigration first kasi sayang din yong fee for extension, mga 500 au din magagastos nyo.
my visa is valid for 6 weeks, I applied in Sri Lanka last month and will be flying to Perth on the 20th of Feb, It’ll be my first time in OZ but I have been traveling and so far I never broke any visa rules in any country I visited, some says telling OZ immigration about your travel experience will help prove that you don’t have any intentions of overstaying. hi! noj, yes im stil in oz yes u can get another tourist visa even na kakauwi mo lang kasi pag-uwi mo dyan sa atin sa pinas expired na rin yung visa natin..at yes u can aply anytime u want nojs yes same docs parin yung ipapasa mo oo nman granted ka oviously kasi granted ka ngah at 1st time so i knw granted ka on ur 2nd aply gdluck..:) at i like mo yung page na pinost ko kasi its realy helpful..
Hello Jean, i think you have to submit the NSO first before you go through the health examination. Kahit naman yata alin mauna basta maipasa mo agad para hindi na ma delay pa ang pagproseso ng papers mo. Ang NSO docs pwede naman nyan magrequest tapos ilagay mo nalang sa request form kung saang address nila idedeliver.

hi janice, nakapagrequest nako ng NSO documents ko for immigration. Plan ko sanang pagsabayin ang dalawa (NSO docus and Health examination) kasi nadelay na ang processing ng application ko kaya lang when i was about to booked for my health examination, I figured out na mali pala ang HAP ID na binigay ko, so i decided to wait until matanggap ng immigration ung NSO docus ko then ill ask them for the HAP ID.

Hello Janice & Jean!..How are you guys?..I am glad to know that there are quite a few people here who applied for PMV like I did last January 8, 2013. Kailan nga pala kayo nag lodge girls? and share naman kayo ng experience nio. In my case, ilang days lang and they requested me to undergo Medical Examination and asked for NSO Birth Certificate. I had my med at Nationwide Health System in Makati and so far okay naman..After one or two weeks they will forward the results directly to the Embassy. Ung NSO ko naman, online application tapos binayaran ko through ATM, kahapon lang nadeliver… I just prayed na magrant ung mga PMV applications natin guys!!..how long do you think it would take??..

Hello Jean, by the way about dun sa NSO document they requested, it doesn’t matter kung uunahin mo ung medical mo. Sa akin kasi nag medical muna ako anyway after two weeks pa naman ifoforward ung results sa embassy, and then saka ako nag request ng NSO through online application then after three working days of payment they delivered my NSO straight away to the embassy

Hello Christa, how are you?..anu ung inaplayan mo, PMV or De facto?..pag defacto, as long as you have sufficient evidence to prove na nagsama kayo for at least 12 months. Hi Res, thanks for the immidiate reply I really appriciate it, I not lodge de facto visa yet, he really wanted too but I have to go for 3 months visa again next month and then while im there, I have to make bank account together for more evidence. and likeyou said bills together with my name, he really want to marry me when i was there so I not need to go back home but my visa has no further stay so I have to go back in the Phils. hopefully this time wla ng 8503 no further stay para maka pag extend ako for another 3 months

I need some advice po. My husband is a british citizen traveling back and forth on a business trip to Australia, he normally stay in Aus for a week then he will fly back to SIngapore at the weekends. Pero wala po kaming balak mag stay for good there as our kids are studying here in Singapore po. He wanted to bring me in Aus every time he travels there. Ano po ang Form na dapat kong i-furnish? Btw, our journey will start in Singapore po as we currently live here. I don’t have British passport yet so yung Philippine passport po ang gamit ko with my husband’s surname on it. We don’t have any relatives or friends that could be my sponsor sa Australia. Yung sa husband ko po is yung company nya ang nagpa-process ng mga docs needed nya to travel, mine will be a seperate application though my husband’s company could put my name together with my husbands’ sa hotel booking and air ticket. Sorry po if you find my inquiries silly, i really don’t have idea po as to how the visa application is sa Australia. Thank you po in advance. God bless sa lahat. 🙂

@jifa thank you, wala namang interview, di naman nila tinawagan ang sponsor ko. ang sabi din sakin sa VIA 2 to 4 weeks and pag 3 weeks wala pang result pwede na mag follow up. wala ng personal appearance i guess dapat lang na complete ang requirements mo at ung letter of intent mo malinaw na at detalyado ako kasi inistate ko dun ung reason ng pag bisita ko at ung intensyon ko pati kong ano lang ung gagawin ko pag dating ko dun. since bf/husband ko ung sponsor ko nag narrate din ako unti kung pano ko siya nakilala cguro pwede mo din sabihin dun kung pano mo nakilala ung sponsor mo kahit pahapyaw lang at least me idea sila. wag kang kabahan as long as true ang intentions/reason mo at complete docs ka, ma grant yan.

oo sponsor din ako, isinubmit ko 1. letter of intent 2. NBI 3. photocopy ng conversations namin ng sponsor ko 4. pictures namin together. un lang sinubmit ko ung kanya naman 1. stat declaration niya (parang invitation letter na din nya) 2. copy ng driver’s license niya 3. bank statement 4. copy ng biopage ng passport niya. ayusin mo lang ung letter of intent mo i guess isa un sa makakatulong sayo, sincere and honest letter of intent is a big help. faith and pray also

Hi Jean,..nakareceive ka na ba ng Acknowledgment Letter from the Embassy?..sa letter na yun they attached two files, one for NSO request (instructions mainly on how to apply for NSO) and the other one is HEALTH EXAMINATION LIST kung saan nandun ung HAP ID mo..all you need to do is download mo yung inatached nila na file and then print it, un ang dadalhin mo pag nagpamedical ka. Kailangan within 28 DAYS after you received the letter from the embassy, nagpamedical ka na, otherwise madedelay talaga application mo…Now, try to check your email everyday. I am quite sure nagsend na sila sayo ng Acknowledgment Letter…Sige add mo nalang ako RESLYN SARMIENTO…. good luck!!
hmmm … nope … in the email isang attachment lang, Request – Further Documents na letter… in the letter, naka list yung kulang ko (Birth Certificate, CENOMAR & Health med) may instruction naman dun how to request for NSO documents online pero walang HAP ID… na check ko na rin ang deleted items ko baka kasi na delete ko lang peru wala talaga.. anyway, nag email na ko sa immigration. Hopefully by monday, may reply na from them. like mo na rin yung link na binigay ni rose5254 … daming ideas kang makukuha sa page na yun.

Phone in Lang yung pag lodge namin ng application and la kami agent ng daughter ko. I’m unemployed and my husband will be on a business trip for 6 weeks.sponsored siya ng company pero ko Hindi. di ako sure ha pero sabi di na daw pwede and scanned copy. sa akin kasi original ang bank statement at statutory dec. pero siyempre ung driver’s license ID scanned pinaprint ko lang ng colored, ung passport biopage naman scan din pero pinapirmahan ng asawa ko sa JP dun baka pwede din ang scan sa ibang docs basta may sign ng JP at siyempre malinaw ang copy. sa VIA center ako nag lodged kung dito ka lang naman Manila madali syang puntahan. hope it helps.

Shiela, magrerequest ka ng manager’s check sa bank mo. yung check na yun ang ipapasa mo sa VIA center together with your application. may fifill out-an ka nyan na form, iaddress mo sa australian embassy then ilagay mo sa purpose is visa payment. may charge na P50 or P100 ang pagrequest ng check.

Yan ang hindi ko alam. Pero parang may nabasa akong comment dito na kung walang bank sa BDO yata mgrerequest but im not sure. Better to ask help from the other applicants na wala din bank. You can try to ask on facebook account of Mga Pinay sa Australia.
@mojs: wala kc tatak even denied? according to our agent parang di daw kami magkasama ni wife magtravel, parang ganun. un notice na pinadala samin tells that it was not granted, 🙁

Hello Caselyn, nakapagtanong na rin ako about sa health examination dun sa isang forum and they told me that in applying for PMV I really have to undergo these tests: eye, urine, blood, and body. I even undergone the urine and blood tests last week just to make sure I’m am free of any viral diseases at baka dun mareject ang application ko. I heard kasi na may nadeny because na found out na yung pinay ay may hepatitis pala which is saka lang nya nalaman nung natanggap na nya yung denied application. Sayang nung effort at pera tapos nakipaghiwalay pa yung aussie sa pinay. Kawawa naman.. Anyways, I understand kung takot ka pero you have to undergo a blood test kasi required yun sa PMV at sa iba pang visa. I assure you hindi masakit, parang kagat lang ng langgam. Oh, i remember sa laboratory na yun na pinag undergo-han ko meron nakapost na latest information about sa needle free injection. Baka available na sya. Just ask about it sa panel doctor na pupuntahan mo. Goodluck 🙂

Ena I just called via centre, the payment is 5100 for TV and you cna get it in the bank where you have bank account if you dont have try to ask for your relatives that had bank account the payment is 100 pesos payable to australian embassy, I am waiting for air21 to pick up my doc today as they said or sat. hopefully ma grant pa rin ako gaya ng dati 3 days lang ang process at granted. Mga ilang araw bago nadeliver ng taga ecensus.com yung request nyu ?.. worried na kasi ako.. nabayaran ko yung request ko last jan.16, i thought after 5 days madedeliver na yung mga request ko sa Australian Embassy Manila peru as i checked my status …naka “PROCESSED” parin.. til now wala rin akong natanggap na email from immigration if natanggap nila ang BC & CENOMAR ko. i tried to email the ecensus several times peru silang reply .. wala rin naman silang hotline sa website nila na poide kung matawagan…

Me and my partner just got our permanent residency grant yesterday for Australia. I am already in Australia and she is going to join me next week.
Do you think Philippines Immigrations might trouble her? Should I provide her with a letter confirming everything?
We had trouble at Cebu airport before and she was offloaded without any reason. But would they trouble her now with Permanent Residency status in Oz?

It depends on the visa subclass. We applied for skilled migration 190 visa and it took a little bit over a month to process.
