[Update: September 15, 2014] Philippine passport holders can now apply for an Australian tourist visa online through the IMMI website. Application fee must be paid via credit card. You can still apply in person through VFS.

I am not a visa officer, nor am I migration agent. I am in no way affiliated with the Australian Embassy Manila nor with the Australian government. This post comes from my experience with preparing and submitting visa applications for family members and for myself. Also note that this entry pertains to my experience in applying for an Australian tourist visa in October 2006. The Australian immigration update their forms every 3 months. I will try to answer your questions the best way that I can, but bear in mind that a lot has changed since 2006. If you ask a question I’ve already answered in the post, I will ignore you.
One of the questions people ask me when I tell them I’ve been to Australia is if it’s easy to get a tourist visa. Almost everybody in Manila have heard of stories of how hard it is to obtain a US tourist visa: compiling documents like birth certificate, bank statements, even land titles O_O, paying a high application fee, waiting in line for hours for an interview. Is it as hard to get a tourist visa for Australia as it is for the US?
Actually, it’s not whether it’s harder on not, but it really boils down to how complete your documents are. I believe all embassies would be very meticulous about all the applications they receive, and it is really important to send them all the required documents.
Be it the Australian embassy, the US embassy or the Chinese embassy, they all want to know the same thing: that you are who you say you are, that you have the means to fund your trip in their country, and that you will be returning to your home country.
Proof of identity
This of course, is your passport and your birth certificate.
Proof of sufficient funds
Bank statements, credit card documents stating your credit limit, payslip
Proof that you’re not going to be an illegal immigrant
Certificate of employment if you’re already working or certificate of enrollment if you’re still studying

Hi Cokies…it has nothing to do with how much you fiance’s savings are..wala kaming pinasa about sa bank account niya. Basta ang mahalaga mapatunayan mo na genuine ung relationship mo and complete lang documents mo. Kakauwi ko lang din galing Oz last Jan.2,2013 on a tourist visa. Within the 3 months period we got everything organized including the letter from our Marriage Celebrant and I included it in my application. This is very important. And 2 Statutory declarations from our friends in Oz and they attached their Australian citizenship/residency…Don’t worry, as long as your documents are pretty complete, then you are doing just fine.

Nag follow-up ako sa kanila last Sunday and I asked them kung bakit hindi pa ako kinukontak ng CO ko..hehe ayun nakulitan yata sa akin, tinawagan ako ng CO ko kahapon and did a lot of questioning mainly about my relationship with my fiance. Tapos nag email din siya sa akin about sa additional documents na kelangan ko icomply… basta follow-up mo lang lagi, by the way, may CO ka na ba?

hi depende sa visa na gamit mo sis. alam ko pag tourist two way ticket tlga ang hahanapin sayo. para alam nilang babalik ka. Kung flexible ung date ng balik mo dito ung kuhain mong ticket is ung pwede magpalit ng date.

Got married in January 2011 in the Philippines, I lodged my spouse visa May. My visa was approved last December. 🙂 Go to local civil registrar and ask them to endorse your MC to NSO and ask for a NSO copy. That’s what i did.

hi yashe sa intent letter ko, sinabi ko lahat paano kami nagmet at mga pictures together and proof that he visted me in the Phils, every 2 months before i decided to visit him in Aus. and he is supporting me western union reciepts. at sabi ko din na i will return to the phils after my short visit in au. and reason for my visit is to spend time with my bf and meet his family.

San ka sa Perth? nasa glendalough ako ngayon malapit sa bus/train station :D, I submitted my application last Wednesday online, I called Immigration then they sent me a link for me to fill out. But make sure wala kang 8503 condition sa current visa mo which is the “no further stay” condition, if meron you can call immigration then ask about waiving that condition before ka makakaapply nang bagong visa. So now I’m still waiting for further instruction, if they need more info and documents from you ipapatawag ka for an interview sa Immigration office, sa wellington street, eto yung link,

If he or she’s going to shoulder your accomodation or some of your expenses you can declare him or her as your sponsor. then I guess since your sister will help you, you can show them a copy of your bank statement. School Registration form (present and your form for next semester, thats what i did). May intent letter din ako.

Hi, i heard a situation like yours to my ate as well, i think you better ask your boyfriend, as Ive heard, your boyfriend could call the immigration to cancel the PMV of her ex since it doesnt work with them, but in your CASE, you know, womens instinct, i reckon, you talk to your boyfriend about whats going on with them if the two of them are getting back, itsbetter to talk in person just in phone call or text or emails. Hello everyone, I’m planning to visit my bf in Sydney. I’m only 22 years old, currently working but my salary isn’t that high. I’ve read somewhere that if I’m planning to go to Aus, I should have at least Php 300k -500k in my bank account for them to grant me a tv, Is this friggin true?
I wanted to surprise him for his birthday so impossible to state him as a sponsor, cause they might look for documents about him right? (and I might have to ask him, ergo spoiling the surprise) I won’t be staying for long, I’m just planning to visit for 5 days or less. Will they consider this? Although I prefer if they’d give me longer duration of tv so I can visit him again.

Bf ko lng po ang sumusuporta smen ngyn. Ano po bng mga strong documents ang pwede ko iprepare mliban sa mga bank statement nya at invitation letter at pasport copy nang bf ko. in that case, write a very nice letter of intent telling about you as a single mum, nowadays the immigration is very particular about your reason in going back to the Philippines. so pictures ninyo nang anak mo. isulat mo sa letter na bibisita ka lang sa BF mo and of course you cant leave you child alone sa Pinas for too long

Hi, You should submit a bank account/statement of bank account say like 5K (audollar) in your application, it only shows that your visit is australia is not genuine even if you have a sponsor, and it doesnt mean a guarantee that you will be able to grant a visa even if you have aponsor, it is still based on the applicant. the embassy is really checking how strong is your will to go back in philippines or how is youre attatchment since you only passed certificate of employment, I also reckon you apply like after more than a couple of months but since then, the embassy already have a copy of your records. You can just submit your application thru courier. Hope this help. Goodluck

kung sinabi mo nung una na wala kang work buting pinanindigan mo nalang yun sis.. kc lahat ng mga info na binibigay natin sa embassy lahat nakarecord sa sknila.then on the next application natin,magbabase sila dun sa unang info na binigay natin at ikukumpara sa bagong info na binigay natin sknila.kung kaduda duda ang pangalawang apply.then i dedeny nila.. saka di daw sila nag gagrant ng tv kung bago bago ka palang sa work mo sa pils.. kung first tourist visa apply better na 3months muna daw,kc depende naman sknila kung ilang months ang makukuha mo pag nagrant na. nung kcng may nakausap kaming agency sa manila, ganyan ang advice sa amin..

I was in OZ Last November to December and gusto ng fiancee ko pakasal kami doon pero may nag advice sa amin na hindi magpakasal kasi nga im holding a tourist visa baka daw malagay ako sa black list at baka ma ban ako ng 3 long years in entering OZ again.. fiancee visa o PMV na lang kunin mo para walang probs in the future.. take and God bless..

marriage certificate lang dala ko, naguguluhan din ako kung ok lang ba mag tourist me ulit tapos single pa passport ko
marriage certificate is the same with marriage contract..dati kasi marriage contract binago na ngayon kasi pag contract kasi parang may expiration kaya pinalitan ng certificate which is much better naman.. I think you need to register your marriage certificate pagdating mo dito.. punta ka sa Local Civil Registrar sa lugar mo or kung malapit ka lang sa NSO punta ka rin doon try to ask them what to do tapos punta ka rin ng DFA try to ask them kung anong dapat mong gawin with your passport. In my experienced last Nov. di sila nag asked about show money, they don’t even asked if my credit card ako, but i made it sure na may dala akong credit card kasi minsan daw yon ang tinatanong ng Immi.. The Immi officer just asked me kung saang government agency ako nag work, then after that the Immi officer said ” Welcome to Australia, have fun and enjoy your stay here” mababait sila. Dito naman sa Immi sa Pinas, if you are a government employee be sure to have the travel authority from your office, yan ang pinaka important document na dapat ipakita mo sa Immi dito sa Pinas kasi pag wala ka nyan tapos dineclare mo na govt employee ka, am sure off load ka talaga just like my aunt.. @Elvie, in my case, they didn’t ask me anything, I gave them my visa grant letter and return ticket but they just returned it to immediately, not even opening it, they didn’t ask me any question, didn’t go thru customs cuz I didn’t bring any organic products or dried stuff so it was very fast. I told the other pinays here na, so maybe we’ll see each other soon here 😀

Ang Immi dito sa Pinas ang maghingi sa ‘yo nyan if wala kang maibigay off load ka katulad ng tita ko na pupunta sana xa ng abu dhabi. April 4 pa flight mo di ba? So may araw ka pa para mag secure ng Authority to Travel. National Agency o DILG ka nag work? kasi ako I am working in a National Government Agency so sa Central Office pa namin sa Manila ang issuance ng Authority to Travel ko. Secretary ng Department ang nagpirma. I even have my Approved Leave of Absence with me in case mag ask and Immi officer pero di na tiningnan ng Immi Officer. Ang ginawa ko kasi pagharap ko sa Immi Officer binigay ko na lahat, my Passport, Visa Grant Notice, Round Trip Ticket at my Authority to Travel para wala ng hingin pa ang Immi officer. hello po,.ask ko lang po kung kelan po ulit pwede mag apply ng tourist visa na denied kasi po ako for tourist visa kasi po about my medical na ndi ko po natapos ang pag take taong 2009 for 6months po kasi ang gamutan na yon that why i decide po na mag take ng medicine last nov. 10,2013 and for now i already taking medicine 5months for april 10,2013.. kelan po kaya ako pwede mag apply ng tourist visa… i am already married na po sa isang australiano year 2008 i decide to apply 2009 for immigration visa but i not submit my papers yet because i take examination first in st.lukes hanggang sa nag positive nga po ako sa tb and then i take medicine for almost 2 or 3 months lang po then nahinto na… then i decide po ulit na mag apply ng tourist visa last year 2012 and dahil nga sa medical ko noong 2009 they decide to take a examination again about x-ray and sputum and thanks GOD kasi negative na po un lang ndi po satisfied ang australian embassy gusto parin nila ako mag take ng medicine so i decide po na consult sa isang hospital and binigyan nya na po ako ng reseta to take 3pcs. of medicine everyday for 2 months and after 2 months i already back to him for follow check up and then binigyan nya n po ako ng bagong reseta na 1pc. lang everyday good for 4motnhs… pls help naman po let me know po kung kelan po ulit pwede mag apply,,,

if ever your TV application for Australia will be granted, you are not allowed to work there..delikado yang binabalak mo, if mahuli ka malalagay ka sa black list and you will be deported and you will ban in entering Austalia. Tapos masisira din credibility ng sponsors mo. Your agency is right, kung gusto mo talaga mag work doon, you can apply for a student visa. God bless..

since your uncle and aunt are there, better apply for a student visa. Kasi mahirap ‘ata mag apply ng working visa doon kasi you are currently holding a tourist visa..

May concern lang poh aq..hnd q poh kc alam ang gagawn..May bf po aq taga Brisbane, 2x n poh xa bumisita d2 sa Pinas..ang latest poh ay last March28-April8…During his visit, napagplanuhan po nmn n sa Xmas aq nmn ang bumisita sa kanya sa Aus..like 2weeks lang kc Im working as a teacher d2 sa Pinas,.1st week of Jan’14 dapat makauwi n aq kc may klase. tanong ko poh, sa 2weeks n un, kelangan pa poh b ng visa? need poh b tlga ng mga bank accounts/land title? if there is, magkano dpat ang savings? kinda pressure kc hnd nmn ganon kalaki savings ko..

kung may sponsor ka sis,no need na man ang bank account from u. bsta lagay lang ni bf sa invitation letter nya na sagot nya lahat, then show some proofs na din para mkita ng embassy na may ability si bf na maprovide nya xpences mo while in oz. then kung may assets ka, paphoto copy mo then notarize. pero si bf nid nyang magshow ng payslips atleast 2 to 3 months, bank statement atleast 4 to 6months, tax return nya for 2 years

Hi Rose, ang pag submit ng ticket with your visa application is not an assurance na maga grant ka. What important is maisubmit mo yung necessary documents and that you have a strong incentive/s na babalik ka ulit. Sa tingin ko maga grant ka ulit basta mag isip ka lang ng magandang rason na sa tingin mo makukumbinsi mo ang CO na babalik ka. Goodluck.

We were surprised to know that subclass 676 has been replaced with 600. My question is, are we still going to make our land titles notarized or certified true pa? As for bank statement, will it be sufficient to have it photocopied? Or do we have to request for a bank statement pa? How bout the visa fee? Di po ba manager’s check? Saan po kaya i-aaddress? Sorry for having lots of questions.. We just would like to do it right. Sana po may magreply. Thank you in advance! ^^
land titles and other assets photocopy and get them notarize, for bank statememnt, punta po kayo sa bank then get bank certificate, ask them if they can give u bank withdrawal deposit transaction, kung passbook naman po,paxerox nyo then notarize din, visa fee is 5100 manager cheque name to AUSTRALIAN EMBASSY…. after u done processing all the docs po, tawag po kayo sa hotline nila to sched for picking up your docs, load po ng 500 para sigurado,kc magaask po sila ng konting katanungan sa inyo about your application 32/minute… then after q&a bibigay po nila yung reference number nyo.. bayad po sa air21 is 320.. goodluck po 🙂
ps. wag nyo napong isama ang passport, kc ibabaik din po yan sa inyo, xerox copy nalang po.. kung dalawa po kayong applicant, then magkaiba ang envelop po nyo.. bsta sabihin nlang sa callcenter yan.

hello! evrybody may nakaranas na po vah dito na at 1st aply niyo for tourist visa is grant kyo, then on ur 2nd time aply at unemployed, and no study na kayo… possible po vah na ma ga grant ka ulit? nakapunta na po kasi ako sa oz, i wil be aply again for another tv..pero unemployed po ako at di na, no study.. hope . may makaksagut sa tanong ko salamat poh!
Hello baby, i’ve been to OZ also last year and that was my first time to go there. I was unemployed and no savings pero na grant ako. Just submit the money transfer receipts if he is supporting you and he must mention in his invitation letter that he will support you in all your needs when you get to OZ.

@ baby… hello rose..gawa ka ng strong family ties mo dito sa Pinas. I think mabibigyan ka uli ng visa kasi you were already there already at di ka nag violate sa rules and regulations ng OZ embassy. Basta siguradohin mo lang na uwi ka talaga ng Pinas before your visa expires para di ka ma ban. Andito ako ngayon pinas. Pareho pala tayo nasa OZ last year. This time mag aapply ako ng PMV. Mag isip ka ng magandang rason na sa tingin mo makukumbinsi mo ang CO na babalik ka dito sa pinas before your visa expires. Ang reasons ko noon ay ako na lang ang kasa kasama ng mama ko sa bahay at kelangan ko talagang bumalik dahil pinakiusapan ko lang muna kapatid kong may pamilya na din to look after our mom while im away. Ipinasa ko din medical certificate ng mama ko from her doctor patunay na she needs someone to look after her and meron kami tindahan na ako din nagmamanage thats why kelangan talagang bumalik. Ipinasa ko din ang business permit so may mga supporting ducuments ako noon kya na grant ako. I hope nabigyan kita ng idea. Think of a strong incentive na babalik ka para ma grant ka ulit. Mga mid August nako adto OZ rose kay adto pa ko Hongkong sa July 10-16, 2013, naa nako ticket nakakuha mi promo P5400 lang round trip Davao to Hongkong. Nakabasa ko comment nimo diri na you are planning to go back to OZ but your problem is wala ka work and wala na pod ka nag skwela. Nag reply o nag comment gud ko ato, ingon naku gawa ka ng strong family ties para grant uli visa mo. hi therzky, para ma-justify mo as a tourist visa – you need to have SUFFICIENT FUNDS. kung visiting relatives ka, maraming requirements sa mga uncle mo to support your stay sa aust. given na wala silang work, mejo questionable kahit supported sila ng government.
