[Update: September 15, 2014] Philippine passport holders can now apply for an Australian tourist visa online through the IMMI website. Application fee must be paid via credit card. You can still apply in person through VFS.

I am not a visa officer, nor am I migration agent. I am in no way affiliated with the Australian Embassy Manila nor with the Australian government. This post comes from my experience with preparing and submitting visa applications for family members and for myself. Also note that this entry pertains to my experience in applying for an Australian tourist visa in October 2006. The Australian immigration update their forms every 3 months. I will try to answer your questions the best way that I can, but bear in mind that a lot has changed since 2006. If you ask a question I’ve already answered in the post, I will ignore you.
One of the questions people ask me when I tell them I’ve been to Australia is if it’s easy to get a tourist visa. Almost everybody in Manila have heard of stories of how hard it is to obtain a US tourist visa: compiling documents like birth certificate, bank statements, even land titles O_O, paying a high application fee, waiting in line for hours for an interview. Is it as hard to get a tourist visa for Australia as it is for the US?
Actually, it’s not whether it’s harder on not, but it really boils down to how complete your documents are. I believe all embassies would be very meticulous about all the applications they receive, and it is really important to send them all the required documents.
Be it the Australian embassy, the US embassy or the Chinese embassy, they all want to know the same thing: that you are who you say you are, that you have the means to fund your trip in their country, and that you will be returning to your home country.
Proof of identity
This of course, is your passport and your birth certificate.
Proof of sufficient funds
Bank statements, credit card documents stating your credit limit, payslip
Proof that you’re not going to be an illegal immigrant
Certificate of employment if you’re already working or certificate of enrollment if you’re still studying

Hi Anna, depende kasi yan sa CO na mag handle ng applic’n mu pag d cla satisfied sa docs mu at sa mga sagot mu ang tendency they will call you through your contact number. Had now 2 x visa granted and sa awa ng diyos ala calls sakin ang embassy 🙂 Only by courier nila send and result ng visa applc’n air21 will text u once ready na for dispatch ang visa mu. Tv processing take now 1 month processing kya wait ka as early 3rd week latest 4th week, Had my result exactly 3 in weeks 🙂

Hi Lyn when i lodge my second tv, after2 months po ng dumating ako sa pinas from Au. but i read some comments here, you can lodge anytime naman daw yan ang nabasa ko from o,der comments b4, good lucj sa appl. mo. im sure granted ulit yan.

I can feel what u feel right now sis, ganyan din ako dati nung pag uwi ko dito galing oz, super na kaka sad, at super ka mis sa fiancée ko.. 1 month ako di nka pa recover sis, boung araw ako nasa room ko sis.. but after 1 month bumalik nman sa normal sis.. umuwi ako last march 5, so 3 moths na yung pagitan ko tv and I wil lodge my tv ds month, im just waiting for the docs of my fiancée…plan ko talaga na maglodge na ako ulit tv pag uwi ko..pero.. need pa save ang fiancée ko nang money for sis.. ok nman mag aplay ka ulit sis.. wait ka lang nag afer 2 weeks din aply ka ulit..a lot of our sisies, do that as well sis and they got granted.. as long as u complete all the dcouments sis.. since u already been to oz… same talaga tyo sis, ganyan ako dati..super kaka miss sa fiancée natin.

Hi Ney, tama si Ms Mojs di na kailangan ng visa label sa passport.. just present your passport, roundtrip tkt and your Visa grant copy.Dont paste it on your passport baka mag ka problema ka sa Immigration.

Hello Chi, it should be certified by the JP. Mas mabuti na ang sigurado. Certified din yung ipinasa kong documents ng fiance ko last year. Yung docs mo naman you can submit the original para hindi kna magpa certify lalo at sabi 100 daw per page. ibabalik naman yan sayo.

From what I know, to apply for a student visa, you need to apply for a school already before you can apply for a visa. You need to submit your enrollment papers and other documents when you apply for a visa.
Please go to immi.gov.au for the forms and information sheet regarding this particular visa.

If Singapore airlines ko stop over niya is Singapore. If Air Asia stop over niya Malaysia but if you fly with air asia daw be sure to bring your own blanket kay wala daw sila nagahatag anah.. If Qantas airlines kung mo fly ka og Monday stop over og Brisbane & Sydney but during other days bale Manila-Sydney-Adelaide na ang route..Ambot and Jetstar asa mag stop over need to research for that kay medyo barato pod daw.. hello rose good evening…Last year pag apply naku akong gipa certified true copy ang mga documents na dili original na akong gisubmit sa AU Embassy like BIR Form No.2316, Notice of Salary Adjustment, photocopies of my Employer’s ID, GSIS ECard Plus & Comelec ID, & Land Titles. Wla naku gipa certified true copy akong Passport pag apply naku last year kay ako man gipadala og apil ang original pero karon daw kay pwede na dili iapadala ang original pero ipa certifed true copy daw ang xerox copy sa passport sa Lawyear o Notary Public. Ang ubang docs na akong gisubmit last year like Certificate of Employment, Approved Leave of absence, Bank Certificates were all original. Kay hubby naman na mga documents rose like his Passport, Certificate of Employment, Payslip, Driver’s License, Tenancy Agreement were all scan..The same pa rin ginawa ko ngayon pero yong passport ko dili na naku ipadala akong original instead magpa xerox ko then ako ipa cetified true copy sa lawyer o Notary Public… This Thursday o Friday ko mag tawag sa VIAC rose.. musta man ka?? human naka imo documents?? hello dessy kmusta ka? before I submitted my nso, my nbi, pictures naming together with my fiancée, chat conversation, my study load, form for tv, application, western union recipt, card and letters, na ibinigay sa fiancée ko, my intent letter,my passport, passport size (2) then nagpabook na din ako kahit na wala pa ako visa bfore.. so I also submit my ticket and my travel insurance and luckily I got granted.. so di nasayang yung money na nagpabook ako kahit na wla pa ako visa that time…. sa fiancée ko nman.. he’s invitation letter, bank statement, Income tax, water bill, driver’s licenced, paylips his passport biopage, certificate of employment….. gdlcuk sayou dessy, gdluck sa atin.. at sala lahat na nag aaply nang tv…
ahh dessy I forgot to mention I also submit yung visa recipt ko, which is yung fiancée ko lang ang nagbayad sa oz.. he just only send me the receipt including his doucuments..

@ annamarie pepito: hello Miss ann, last year na apply ko ng TV it took 6 working days. Oct. 1, 2012 na received ng Au Embassy tapos Oct 6 ang date ng Visa Grant Notice ko.. Tapos, I applied ulit ngayon pero wla pa akong natatanggap na result..wla din akong na received na text o email from the Au Embassy informing me that they already have my docs but i tried to tracked with Air21 using the waybill number. Last June 22, 2013 na deliver na daw ng Air21 docs ko to Au Embassy so I am patiently waiting na lang. Hope and pray mabigyan uli ng visa. If ever mabigyan ulit ng visa, mga end of August pa ang punta ko ng OZ kasi takut ako sa sobrang lamig baka di ko kaya.. Ikaw Miss Ann saan ka sa OZ at kailan balak mo punta doon?? Hi rose good evening… wala baya ko kabalo pila bayad sa PMV rose pero morag mag increase daw effective July 1.. Maayo pa ka nakadawat og text from the embassy na naa na sa ila imong docs, ako wala jud kadawat og text pero ok lang kay last year pod wala man ko nakadawat og text na nadawat na nila akong docs. hello again ann, maremember naku last year naku na apply og TV, pag pick up ako documents sa office kay wala ko ako lang gibilin sa akong officemate kay nilaag ko og Bohol and Cebu.. tapos naa ko sa Simala when air21 picked up my documents.. Yes, ako pod jud to gi pray didto ann..and yes pag uli naku Davao after one week nadawat naku ako Visa Grant Notice..Pasalamat kaayo ko sa Ginoo og gusto pod ko balik Simala.. Ang isa lang sa probs with other nationality is our cultural differences but am so lucky ’cause he is very mabait, he loves and he likes our culture so much and he loves the Philippines. hello again ann…bawal baya mag work didto ann if you are holding a tourist visa.. madaut ka pati imong ate na nag sponsor sa imo. If mabal-an sa Au govt na nag work ka ma ban ka for years tapos madaut ang record sa imo ate og sa iya hubby.. Last year when I was there, naa offer sa ako na work, cashier sa Asian restaurant. friend sa ako fiancee ang tag-iya sa resto. Pagtoo sa tag-iya sa resto og fiancee visa ko mao nag offer siya og work sa akoa. Pagkabalu sa tag-iya na im holding TV ngayo siya sorry sa ako fiancee… Inig dawat nimu sa imo visa grant notice nakabutang na didto na you are not allowed to work tapos swerte na kaayo kung walay naka butang na 8503 sa imo visa.. it means uwi jud ka before your visa expires… Good luck ann and God bless..

if you are on TV bawal mag work sa Australia..Ma ban ka for years tapos madaot pod ang record sa imo ate og sa iya hubby…tapos posible pod na maapektuhan ang mga Pinoy/Pinay na mag apply og TV sa Au..Inig dawat nimu sa imong Visa Grant Notice, nabutang na didto na “you are not allowed to work”..

Hi Mojs, same pala tayo nag lodge ngayong buwan at same visa type. I lodged mine in June 13th via phone-in and was picked up on 18th but haven’t received an acknowledgement yet. My fiance is a little bit confused if we have to add for additional payment ganitong hindi pa yata naririsib ang application ko dahil wala pa ngang acknowledgement. But i believe na once naitawag na sa embassy narisib man nila on or before July eh nae lodge ko na. I hope im right so we dont have to add anymore. Sana nga talaga ma grant dahil talagang expensive. Goodluck to the two of us.

Last weeks currency rate was P42.71 when my fiance sent me money but just yesterday when my brother sent me money(for my mom) from Australia also was P40.1 …very low so much better to let your partner pay for your visa in Australia and send to you the receipt dahil mas makakatipid kayo kung dun magbabayad. That’s what my fiance did, he paid for my PMV in Australia this month.

Hello mojs, good luck & for sure ur tv is granted again. no need to call for an appointment,u need to be there s clinic 7am then register ur name s security guard,1st come first serve basis cla. then don’t forget to bring 2pcs passport photo,ur passport & another valid id & ur HAP id from the embassy. better n water cleansing k 1 week b4 ur medical & don’t drink juice, coffee or hot choco the day ng medical mo pra ok mging result ng urine test mo.
