[Update: September 15, 2014] Philippine passport holders can now apply for an Australian tourist visa online through the IMMI website. Application fee must be paid via credit card. You can still apply in person through VFS.

I am not a visa officer, nor am I migration agent. I am in no way affiliated with the Australian Embassy Manila nor with the Australian government. This post comes from my experience with preparing and submitting visa applications for family members and for myself. Also note that this entry pertains to my experience in applying for an Australian tourist visa in October 2006. The Australian immigration update their forms every 3 months. I will try to answer your questions the best way that I can, but bear in mind that a lot has changed since 2006. If you ask a question I’ve already answered in the post, I will ignore you.
One of the questions people ask me when I tell them I’ve been to Australia is if it’s easy to get a tourist visa. Almost everybody in Manila have heard of stories of how hard it is to obtain a US tourist visa: compiling documents like birth certificate, bank statements, even land titles O_O, paying a high application fee, waiting in line for hours for an interview. Is it as hard to get a tourist visa for Australia as it is for the US?
Actually, it’s not whether it’s harder on not, but it really boils down to how complete your documents are. I believe all embassies would be very meticulous about all the applications they receive, and it is really important to send them all the required documents.
Be it the Australian embassy, the US embassy or the Chinese embassy, they all want to know the same thing: that you are who you say you are, that you have the means to fund your trip in their country, and that you will be returning to your home country.
Proof of identity
This of course, is your passport and your birth certificate.
Proof of sufficient funds
Bank statements, credit card documents stating your credit limit, payslip
Proof that you’re not going to be an illegal immigrant
Certificate of employment if you’re already working or certificate of enrollment if you’re still studying

Hindi ko po kasi masyado narinig yung sinabi nung csr about dun sa application checklist. sa maga nakapaglodge na po, isasama ko po ba yun (part m- application checklist page) sa sealed envelope o ibibigay ko sa magppick up ng forms ko? nakasulat po kasi sa page na yun na “when you have lodged your application you should attach your receipt to this sheet”

sa mga nakapaglodge po ng tourist visa application via air21. ibbigay po ba sa courier yung page 15 part M (application checklist) ng application form? o isasama po sya sa loob ng sealed envelope? nakalagay po kasi dun sa page na yun na “when you have lodged your application, you should attach your receipt to this sheet” salamat po!
trixie, just put ur checklist or table of contents page sa front /top ng lahat ng decuments. everything inside d brown envelope ,and sealed.

hello everyone, I have one question. is there anyone here that have 3 months TV and then has 8503 no further stay condition. is there any chance to extend the visa while we are here in asutralia? if so what are the reason that the immig will consider, Thank you very much please advice I need some helps in this matter..
you cannot extend your visa if you have no further stay condition on your tourist visa … better to go home and apply another visa ..
dunno if you can waived the ” no futher stay ” but if i were you its better to go home and apply for another visa .. better to have good record good luck 🙂

girl if you will go in oz in december you can lodge your application in November and also huwag ka muna bili ng ticket make sure you got your visa granted bago ka bumili

it doesn’t matter if you are graduate or not .. as long as you have incentive to return in your country 🙂
we been together for more 2 years now, except he will come to the phils and back to au and then i go there for 3 months and then came back to the phils then go back again, we have a very strong relationship, so im here in au now , so we need to register here before we can apply for defacto in the phils? as im going back home next month? is that possible that we get a chance as ang mahal pa naman ng visa payment diba. please give more advice, we planning to lodge the defacto visa by this year, how long it will take if ever ma grant?

I was granted a multiple entry visa before. I didn’t specifically request for it, but my sister wrote in her invitation letter to me that I might want to consider visiting our cousin in New Zealand while in Australia.
From what I remember, there’s nothing in the form asking whether you are applying for a single or multiple entry visa. Requirements and visa fee is the same.

Hello I just try to post my question here.. and keep hoping that someone can help me.. hindi ako makapag isip ng maayos kasi lagi gumugulo sa isip ko na baka nag sasayang lang ako ng panahon, oras at pera sa desisyon kong ito.. i’m willing to do my best but how can i assured na makakakuha ako ng TV in OZ. i have a same sex partner in OZ and he’s working at a kfc restaurant at full time service crew for almost 6 months and stop when he plan to visiting me in phil… he’s 18yrs old and independent.. renting room at his friend and almost 2 moths nang nag wowork simula ng bumalik sya ng OZ after visiting me in phil.

hi i would like to apply for a students visa…if possible i want to study english sa Aus bago pumasok ng university, and yes i have relatives there and she’s a nurse ( she’s already a Australian citizen) my family is poor so my aunt wants to get me and at least i can work and study at the same time… she’ll be covering for the air fare, lodging and my food, including the university… gusto ko po sanang malaman kung kaylangan ko pa po bang mag pa kita ng sufficient funds? kasi po mahirap lang kami so i’m sure hindi kaya ng family ko. and anong klasing processing po ba ang pagdadaanan ko?? wala po talaga akong idea sana po may maka pagbigay ng advice…thank you po

BTW, i was a holder of TV twice before then applied for a fiancee visa, and i am now married and already granted a temporary resident visa. I really really want to study however international student fee pa rin ang babayaran ko EVEN IF i am already a temporary resident here. So no choice talaga but to wait for PR para mura ang school fees. Mahal ang ang mag aral dito.

I have friends who are on a student visa and milyon (peso) ang dapat show money. But i think your aunt can afford naman and if you will be living with them then less gastos ka na sa food and accom. Just the tuition fee nlng. depende din sa course na kukunin mo and how long it takes.

Yung AirAsia sis is a low cost airline like cebu pacific, I tried them when I was traveling around Indonesia and on my way to Perth sa tatlong flights ko sa kanila once lang na delay. Unlike PAL or QANTAS or CATHAY Pacific walang meals and drinks included (you’ll have to pay separately), kung gabi flight mu with Airasia you better bring your own small blanket kasi di sila nagpoprovide.
flying with flag carrier airlines is more comfortable meron silang entertainment on board, but airasia pamasahe lang talaga babayaran mo at yun lang, 🙂

I flied with Qantas last Nov and Dec., 2012…very nice ang services nila pati food, ang daming food, fruits, drinks (coffee, tea, fruit juice and wine), may fruit salad and vegetable salads pa, may yogurt, ice cream and chocolates. May blanket and pillow din sila, toothbrush, toothpaste and also ‘yong pang cover sa eyes pag nasilawan ka sa lights. mababait din mga cabin crews nila.. That was last Nov, 2013 and my fare then was $ 1,150 Manila-Adelaide-Manila, inclusive of meals & travel tax.. They also served breakfast with their local flights..

Airasia is okay just keep your expectations low, parang Cebu Pacific lang talaga siya, maski tubig babayaran mo hehehe I would say Airasia is good for short destinations like MNL-HK is not so bad. I tried Qatar and Malaysia Airlines and both are way beyond my expectations but mahal nga lang
Hi, i hope you can answer my question. Do you really need to give original copy of your sponsors documents like stat declaration, ITR, payslip, etc? Kasi ung embassy their asking for additional documents and we already send stat declaration. Bale balak ko sana ibigay n lang is email na nagiinvite ung sponsor sa Oz. Si agency po kasi, iniinsist po n i should send the original copy of the stat declaration ulit, ITR, payslip with notary kasi daw may seal un kea dapat orug copy at inde daw scanned. After reading you comments here and talking to my friends experience, nawawala n tiwala ko sa agency, since denied n ung isang kasama ko. Can you please give me advise. Thanks!
Hi Cates, good evening.. When I applied for TV last year, lahat ng documents ni fiancee like invitation letter, payslip, driver’s license, COE, passport, all were scanned.. And I was given a 3 months visa. Di ako nag agency kasi ang mahal ng bayad..Basa lang ako ng basa sa mga comments dito and it really helped me. Thanks to Nina and to everyone here. God bless..

TV lang nmn po…actually denied na ko…ung kasama ko kasi need ng follow up documents. Kea pla ako nadeny kasi inde daw enough ung proof na babalik ako ng Philippines. nagbigay n ako ng CoE, approved leave, stat dec from the support and payslip nya. May bank cert din ako at payslip ko..pero wala denied p rin. Nag agency ako, since im busy ako sa work. Next n apply ko, ako n lang magaasikaso parang mas ok kesa sa agency. Thanks Plummy.

Tayo naman mag provide ng lahat ng documents di bah, so better na tayo na lang ang mag lodge. Tawag ka lang sa call center ng VIAC din ibibigay nila sayo sched when nila e-pipick-up ‘yong documents mo. Last year P360.00 lang nabayaran ko sa Air21, pick – up and delivery of my visa na. Sino sponsor mo Cates? If your sponsor is your boy friend or fiancee then gawa ka ng Letter of Intent. Sabihin mo sa sulat mo kung paano at kailan kayo nag meet ni bf/fiancee. Sabihin mo sa sulat mo mga reasons o purpose mo in going to Australia. Tapos sabihin mo din doon mga reasons mo kung bakit ka uuwi ng Pinas. If possible gawa ka ng strong family ties mo dito. Jetrix, to be honest, there’s no certainty when it comes to visa application. There are people who have been to several countries and have other visas already and still get denied.
The best you can do is to show proof that you have strong reasons to come back to the Philippines. You can do that by submitting documents proving your strong family ties here, or your employment certificate which indicates your approved leave for the time you will be spending in Australia.

hi shenshn, mag 1 wk nrin aku frm tomrow waiting. Relax ka lng mag send nmn ng text sau embassy at air21 pag ready to dispatch na un result. And explained nmn sa via center na 2-4 wks ang process case by case basis and depend sa case officer din na mag handle ng applcn’ natin. kaya patience lng my dear 1 wk p lng nmn waiting.

hello raine first time ko pang mag apply ng isang tourist visa 3 months muna ako for adeliade ,base sa experienced ng sister ko,ang embassy ang mag appoint sayo kung saan ka mag conduct ng iyong medical at sa cebu sya pinapapunta….bout sa question mo try ka ulit open new account at punta ka araw araw mag deposit ka para marami kang transaction at saka babasehan din naman yung account kung sino man yung sponsor mo…sensya kana ha wala pa kase akong masyadong alam, basa lang nang bsa ako sa mga naka post dito….

ganyan ang gibawa ko when I applied for tv twice, i got my managers cheque from metrobank pay to australian embassy, I was granted twice. and I will apply again soon. kakauwi ko lang last week. dito din ako kumuha ng information at bago ako bumili ng managers cheque, i call via center and that is what they said, pay to australian embassy, goodluck sa app mo.

Hello, P5,100 ang visa fee. Posibleng ma grant application mo as long as you submit all the necessary documents and have a strong reasons that you are coming back here in the Philippines before your visa expires.

Hello yhen, maglo-lodge ka ng application mo sa VIA center or papick up mo sa courier. You will have to submit form 48r, manager’s check, passport, birth certificate(NSO), NBI clearance, intent letter, money transfer receipts, photos together, and 2 passport sized pictures. From your sponsor: invitation letter, copies of passport and driver’s license, bank statement, certificate of employment, paylips, your medical insurance na iaapply nya dun sa australia then send nya sayo para maiattach sa application mo. hope somene could help. plan ko na mag apply ng TV by my own pero lahat ng gastos Australian BF ko ang gagastos kase ayoko ng gumamit ng agency dahil naloko na kami sa pag aaply ko ng fiance visa nagbayad kami ng fully paid 140K php last year october. So yung form for tourist visa is 1419 right. ano po yung (intent letter????) saka anong form ang ipapasa ko kapag nag apply ako ng tourist visa is it just the form 1419? is the a possibilities na ma refuse ako kapag nag apply ako ng TV since wala ako work?

Hello Aiza, in your intent letter introduce yourself, age and address, your intentions/reasons in going to Australia, how many intended months ka mag stay, your fiance’s name, address, work, name of company, work address, that he’s going to cover all your needs, and that you’re going to come back here in the Philippines before your visa expires…show some proof on this like family ties(attach family pictures).
About the form, when i lodged mine last year, i prepared form 48r. I do not know now. With or without work, there is a possibility na ma’grant ka like mine. Just submit the necessary documents and the money transfer receipts cause it means he supports you and even more when you stay with him in Australia.
Im just curious, Na’grant ba fiancee visa application mo? Im going to lodge din kasi this month, antay ko lang ang documents ng fiance ko.

about sa fiance visa ko i used a travel agent nagbayad kami ng full payment na 140K last year october 2 2011, niloko nya kami sabi nya samin nilodge nya fiance visa ko but noong tumawag kami sa australian embassy to follow up my visa wala daw ako record doon and sabi nung nakausap ko na return daw ang mga docs. ko dahil wala daw payment at mali yung form na pinasa ng agent so frustrating tlga. kaya heto naghahabol sa pera ang hirap maghabol dhil walang konsensy yung tao.
Gabun ba..sayang nung time, money, and effort. Andun ka na sana sa Australia ngayon kasi as far as i know, sa kakasearch ko about sa visa, hindi na nalampas ng 6 months ang pagprocess ng fiancee visa kahit 6-9mos. ang processing time. Yaan mo, kakarmahin din ang taong yun na nanloko sainyo.

Hi anyone here tried Jetstar flight for Manila-Singapore-Perth this year? Me mga ask lang po sana aku sabi kc sa webpage just 1 main handcarry luggage allowed and extra 1 small hand bag.. eh i handcarry ko din syempre ang laptop ko d nman sya pede sa luggage. Ok lang po ba sa jetstar yun laptop bag i handcarry without additional charges? Ask ko din po c Jetstar na ba ang mag transfer ng checked In luggage ko pag connect sa Singapore? Dadaan pa po ba ng immigration or transfer lang diretso? thanks in advance po for infos u can share. 😉
hello pinky base of my experience.. nag tanong ako.. sa pa chic in. ko at ang airlines lang yung mag transfer nang luggage mo, and then..since ur connecting flight… no need na para dumaan sa immigration .. transfer lang yan diritso.. sis.. or . ask ka lang din sis, pag check in mo… to make sure. yan kasi ang ginawa ko… mag kaiba lang tayo nang airlines.. from Cebu -Singapore-Adelaide..at syaka yung laptop ok naman cya ilagay sa hand carry mo kasi yan ang ginawa ko sis. para di ka ma bored,, sa kakahintay mag internet ka, Singapore may wifi cla dun..:) happy trip pinky.
