I am not a visa officer, nor am I migration agent. I am in no way affiliated with the Australian Embassy Manila nor with the Australian government. This post comes from my experience with preparing and submitting visa applications for family members and for myself. Also note that this entry pertains to my experience in applying for an Australian tourist visa in October 2006. The Australian immigration update their forms every 3 months. I will try to answer your questions the best way that I can, but bear in mind that a lot has changed since 2006. If you ask a question I’ve already answered in the post, I will ignore you.
One of the questions people ask me when I tell them I’ve been to Australia is if it’s easy to get a tourist visa. Almost everybody in Manila have heard of stories of how hard it is to obtain a US tourist visa: compiling documents like birth certificate, bank statements, even land titles O_O, paying a high application fee, waiting in line for hours for an interview. Is it as hard to get a tourist visa for Australia as it is for the US?
Actually, it’s not whether it’s harder on not, but it really boils down to how complete your documents are. I believe all embassies would be very meticulous about all the applications they receive, and it is really important to send them all the required documents.
Be it the Australian embassy, the US embassy or the Chinese embassy, they all want to know the same thing: that you are who you say you are, that you have the means to fund your trip in their country, and that you will be returning to your home country.
Proof of identity
This of course, is your passport and your birth certificate.
Proof of sufficient funds
Bank statements, credit card documents stating your credit limit, payslip
Proof that you’re not going to be an illegal immigrant
Certificate of employment if you’re already working or certificate of enrollment if you’re still studying

Minsan ung delay of processing visa is nasa applicant din un. Reason? Make sure na complete ung requirements mo kasi dun sila nakabase sa mga isusubmit mo. Sa case ko noon ung tourist visa ko umabot lang ng 2 days process. not included the postage. Every time we talk we finish around 1 am my time and his time 3am we have only 2 hours different time.
Me and ANTHONY we talk almost for 6 months at that day January 3, 2013 he told me to try to apply for tourist visa and his mother gonna sponspor because that time ANTHONY have no work .All my need’s she the one who gonna pay all even his mother and me not even meet yet , but he told me just try we organise all things I search and google some travel agent who can organise our things I found a travel agency its “AIRLITE INT’L TRAVEL & TOURS INC.” they the one who organised all my things I give all my documents and my sponsor documents and after that day JANUARY 12,2013 was lodged at AUSTRALIAN EMBASSY I receive a message from my travel agent that my tourist has denied/ refuse and I received the letter from “AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT ( DEPARTMENT OF IMMIGRATION AND CITIZENSHIP)” they said there not satisfied that all my documents I provided, before I apply tourist visa I find work and I hired
but they not satisfied about my letter from my company because I start only December 29, 2012,and they not satisfied that I have no strong incentives to come back in my country at the end of my proposed visit. And that time I told to ANTHONY and his mom that im not approved to get tourist visa we all sad but its ok we still have time to apply again and that day APRIL 1.2013 ANHTONY told me come and meet me in personal he will stay for 2 months and he quit his job to come in manila .APRIL 28, 2013 ANTHONY and his father come in manila to visit me and there first time to enter my country we stay in BAYWATCH TOWER MALATE MANILA for 15 days and his father too, we go other place in around manila they see the culture in Philippines Manila and the life style of living here, i can see them that they would love to stay in manila too but they rather go back to there country ANTHONY and his father told me again to try apply again a tourist visa. MAY 12 ,2013 his father need to go back in AUSTRALIA while me and ANTHONY find a apartment in Paranaque sucat manila we stay there for almost 1 months and 13 days, while he in manila we go other place he see my family relatives, sister’s and my friends he stay until JUNE 25 , 2013 in that day ANTHONY need to go back in Australia because his visa gonna expired but he told me he gonna come back again and this time he try to bring me in Australia ,We back again in real life chat again, video call using skype, viber, facebook and some other things to communicate again. I search about how too apply for tourist visa in AUSTRALIA but I know maybe I don’t have chance,but we need to try again I search and read some blog and I found one website its called “justwandering.org”. Ako, still waiting for the result pa rin ann.. It’s been 10 working days since nadeliver sa Au Embassy akong app for TV. Need to call Air21 next week kay basin next week pohon naa na result unya larga ko HK July 11 then July 17 pa ko mag uli. Need to ask air21 unsa ila kailangan na document if ever akong office mate ang mag receive sa document from Au embassy.. Sana Visa Grant Notice din ang matatanggap ko.. Thanks ann sa info. ang boot pasabot anang “Last day to arrive is Jan. 4, 2014 ann, is ” if ever dili ka madayon og larga by Nov. 2013, pwede pa ka molarga sa Jan 4, 2014 tapos kung mo stay ka didto og 3 months that is until April 4, 2014 lang ka didto. Dapat larga jud ka on or before Jan 4 kay mao na imo last dat of entry sa Australia. Lagi ann magtawag ko sa lunes kung unsa need na document sa air21 na akong e prepare, Special Power of Attorney bah o authorization lang authorizing somebody to received the result of my TV app..wala ko nagkuha og travel insurance pag adto naku last year ann… Ask rose kay morag nagkuha to siya og travel insurance last year… Yes, on line ko nagbuy og round trip ticket last year ann… Qantas Airline ako sakyan last year Manila-Adelaide-Manila. Padulong didto stop over mi Brisbane & Sydney, pag uli kay sa Sydney na lang then deretso na Manila.. Congrats again and Happy trip..

hello am here at Qlnd Oz..then Jetstar ang sinakyan ko na plane,,depende yan if, you pay for meal. libre ka sa lahat,if u not pay,meaning wala,ok,,lang naman ang Jetstar at mura than Pal. be back sptmbr.
Initially with just the plane fare, bookings for Jetstar I noticed look lower but after the taxes are added it turned out to be higher than PAL. Then you have to add meals and baggage allowances pa. PAL also has discounted flights similar to Cebu Pacific. But once you book PAL only the taxes are added, the rate already includes baggage allowances, with breakfast and can be refunded too unlike Jetstar. You will also find this in their booking sites. Right now, rate of PAL to SYD is USD 481.40 and is lower than going to PER which is USD 509.55…Last time I checked this was lower around USD 435 something but I had to wait for my visa pa and for round trip multiply by 2 because it is the same rate and multiply by the current forex rate around 1USD is to PHP 44. Wala pang Phil travel tax of P1,620.00.
Sometimes nice if you wait a little longer since PAL again would release notices of discounted rates and may go even lower than the lowest I noticed earlier of USD 435 something.

hello rose, yes nag text air21 sa akoa kanina buntag, wla pay 8 nag text na air21 na my shipment daw is sheduled to be delivered today, gool pa jud ko kaayo rose kay naka sked nako to do official business with our partner agency, so wala ko sa office. So akong gibuhat niadto ko kadali sa office buhat ko authorization letter authorizing the security guard on duty to received my shipment from Au Embassy. Pagka mga 11AM nakadawat ko og text from Au Embassy saying that my documents have been dispatched to the courier (air21) for delivery in a few days daw. Pagka mga 1PM nakadawat na pod ko text from Air21 saying “your shipment with tracking no. xxxxxxx is for delivery today. Pagbalik naku office mga 3PM, gitunol na sa akoa sa Security guard.. Wla dayon naku gi open rose kay kulbaan kaayo ko hahaha..inhale, exhale sa ko then after 5 minutes saka naku gi open og ang Visa Grant Notice jud dayon akong nakita. Gibalik nila sa akoa ang bank statement/certificates na akong gisubmit rose kay orig man siya.. Dont you worry, approve lagi to imoha, just be positive, God is good and He knows what is best for you. I passed my visa requirements thru a travel agency dugaya uy pero kaluoy sa Lord I received a text last 5 July and picked up it up sa agency dayon. My sponsor is my Aussie boyfriend who I already met before in another trip in Bali. So maybe mas maayo mangita daan maybe online, joke ra depende ra na. Nangita ko ug barato na plane fare amo giagree na is thru PAL sa Perth man ako first destination. Mas barato ba diay sa Jetstar, morag mahal jud na sa Singapore Airlines dah. May unta ang Ceb Pacific naa na flights didto next time.
Ako ask ba mas maayo ba 3 months jud imo kuhaon nga ticket or the maximum no. of stay didto or just get confirmed ticket nga lower sa 3 months then rebook na lang pohon. Ang akoa ba napick-up from the agency 29 May around 1 pm and there was no text confirmation then as indicated in the visa grant notice, it was granted 3 July and it arrived here in Cebu and got a text 5 July am and I pick-up my passport and documents on the same day.
Ngano man wa nay visa label ana jud na pag trip to Australia ba karon? Mas maayo ta toh if nakastick na lang sa passport para wa nay dad-on lain pa na document
For those who were denied before I suggest that you ask for professional help, some agencies charges P6000 on top of the current visa application charges of P5,100 plus courier nga gicharge sa akoa kay P400. morag reasonable ra man sad di kaayo sobrahan ba. hello jifa para s akin, unang una kailangan kasi bf mo may trabaho sya, kasi titngnan ng australian embassy kung may kakayahan ba ang bf mo to shoulder all your needs while you stay in oz.. yun na denied ka kasi hindi sila sidurado or hindi nila nakita na kaya ng bf mo…or depende yung sa documents na sina submit mo together sa bf mo…wala namang mawawala if aply ka ulit….sensya na ha!! i dont know if im right in my comments, try to ask that to miss nina fuentes, i think she knows all that matter ok!!God bless

@ JIFA, gawa ka ng intent letter, explain mo na bbalik ka ng pinas dhil sa family mo.. hindi nila tinitinggan kung may pera ka or wala.. pag nag read ka sa old post ditom meron dyan applicant ng TV na may 200k sa bank, pero na denied cya… and TV kc, sace to case basis… as long as ma prove mo na may reason ka to comeback..yun ang importnate..ako kc, reason ko, is 3 kids ko… plus invitaiton letter sa sponsor mo, at ilagay mo dun sa form at letter na si bf mo ang mag provide ng expenses mo lahat lahat.. mag submit lng cya bank statnements nya.. khit wala cya work kung may pera naman cya sa bank para ma accmodate ka…

Hi Mojs, baka nga next week maka receive ka na ng acknowledgement from embassy. I lodged my pmv via phone June 13th, pick-up by the courier on 18th, received by the embassy on 24th, and i received an acknowledgement on July 5th. I requested and paid NSO docs, acknowledgement na lang inaantay ko. Yung medical after ko na lang manganak dahil ilang araw nlng manganganak na ako. :-). Kapag nauna ka mgpa medical please let me know kung saang hospital and the cost so i have an idea…thanks. Naglodge din pala ako ng tv nitong july 5. Goodluck sa application natin. Sana ma grant tayong lahat.

Hi Mojs, sa acknowledgement letter na natanggap ko naka attach na yung sa NSO and yung HAP number for the medical examination. NSO pa lang ang naasikaso ko. Yung medical pagkatapos ko na lang manganak.

I search about how too apply for tourist visa in AUSTRALIA but I know maybe I don’t have chance,but we need to try again I search and read some blog and I found one website its called “justwandering.org”. Hi Jifa, sakin 1 page lang. Ang intent letter kasi na ginawa mo ay para ng letter of history and development ng relationship nyo na required sa fiancee visa. No need to mention the development of your relationship and the past application na nadeny. Sa paggawa ng intent letter you will only mention your name, age, address, work, reasons in going to australia, intend dates, your boyfriend’s name, company na pinagtatrabahuhan nya, his address, that he or his parents will take care of your travel expenses, accomodation, and other financial needs during your stay. Mention also your reasons why you have to return before your visa expires. Attach mo din yung supporting documents sa reasons mo na babalik ka. It should be strong for you to convince your CO and be granted. Konti lang naman yung required na documents for TV so i wonder kung ano yung kulang mo nung first apply mo. How much ang fare sa Qantas Airways… I flied with them last year, bongga much ang accomodation nila, mababait din mga cabin crews tsaka ang laki kaya hahaha nalula ako when I saw Qantas sa HK airport last week sobrang laki niya, kaduhaon ang Air Asia Ann hahaha nag bisaya na pod ko…Mga end of august pa ang alis ko Ann then uwi Pinas end of October mga 2 months lang mi doon.. hello guys.. good morning… Yayyyy need to write taglish here hahaha buts it’s ok ann & rose carry natin yan… My trip to HK was soooooo good and nice… HK is a very beautiful place, gala dito, gala doon.. Ang resulta pagod much hahaha buts it’s ok kasi sobrang saya naman.. Pumunta din kami ng Shenzhen, China and also Macau. Venetian Macau is veryyyyy beautiful guys sana makapunta din kayo doon one of these days.. The window of the world in shen zhen is also very nice, para ka na ring nag tour around the world kasi andoon ang lahat ang land mark ng different countries in the world… Medyo super busy sa work kasi aalis na naman ako puntang OZ. Need to put everything in place. Nabusy din sa kahahanap ng flight kaya ito aga masayado nagising to find flights.. May ticket kana ann? Alam mo mas mura ang singapore airlines, ang round trip fare nila, bale Cebu-Singapore-Adelaide then Adelaide-Singapore-Cebu is P41,207.11 lang ann inclusive of taxes and meals na.. With that di ka na pupunta pa ng Manila ann.. Bukas ako magpapa book ann, this time I will fly with singapore airlines kasi gusto ko ring makita singapore kahit sa airport lang hahaha, kasi marami nagsabi maganda daw ang singapore airport.. Pumunta din ako ng travel agency at mas lalong mahal ang round trip fare nila Davao-Adelaide-Davao, sa travel agency it cost P 47,850.00.. Sabi ko ang mahal, bakit mura lang on-line? Sabi noong guy na incharge sa booking “wala kasing service fee online Maam. So if I were you, if may credit card o debit card ka sa on line ka na lang bumili kasi ang laki talaga ng difference.” So, ayon, katatapos ko lang mag booked on line.. saan ka banda sa Mindanao? Taga Mindanao din ako, taga Davao.. I used to write in bisaya here with rose & anna marie pepito pero may nagagalit kasi di daw niya maintindihan sinasabi namin kaya ito trying to speak tagalog na hahaha..
Actually, okay lang sakin na mag Bisaya o Tagalog, o kung anong language kayo comfortable kasi alam ko di naman madali para sa lahat na magsulat sa English o Tagalog. Salamat na rin sa effort nyo na mag sulat sa English para maintindihan ng iba 🙂

hello anna marie pepito, good morning, yes ann, pwede mo xa e fold gaya ng ticket mo tapos bili ka ng plastic size na mailing envelope doon mo ilagay ticket & visa grant notice mo with your passport.. Pagharap mo sa Immi officer, bigay mo na lahat, yong passport mo, visa grant notice mo & the ticket para wala na silang hihingin pa sa ‘yo.. Magpa photo copy ka din ng ticket & visa grant notice para may extra copy ka in case mawala.. ingat and God bless..

hello annamarie pepito.. good evening…Yes, kahit ano gusto mong isoot pwede as long as comfortable ka. Ako last year naka jeans & long sleeve shirt lang (mahilig kasi ako sa long sleeve) tapos naka sleepers lang pero orig na high havs naman hahaha baka may magalit na naman dito, bka isipin nagyabang si ako..sorry po.. nag sleepers lang ako kasi ang airport dito sa davao pina pa remove mga shoes, sobrang hassle so nag sleepers na lang ako…
about sa Immi officer sa Manila she asked me kung ano o saang government office daw ako nag work? Tapos sabi niya binigyan daw ako ng OZ govt na mag stay ng 3 months sa OZ bakit daw di ko sulitin yong 3 months. Tapos sa immi naman sa OZ ang tanong lang sa akin is “what is the name of the government office that you worked with?” pagka tapos kung sagutin, sabi ng immi officer with a smile, “Ok, welcome to Australia and enjoy your stay/holidays here,” yon lang.. Basta, relax ka lang ann, be confident and always give your best smile to them..Kung ano yong tanong, yon lang ang sasagutin mo..ingat and God bless..

Hello mga sis! I got my visa grant notice today 🙂 I lodged my application last July 8 and so happy coz finally wala sa conditions nila ang no further stay pwde ko extend nlang visa ko sa oz habang waiting ng result ng partner visa ko sa oz muna ko makakasama ko ng maaga ang asawa ko. Thanks god! 🙂
Goodpm po ask ko lang sana kung pwede ba ko kumuha lang ng one way ticket kasi bka pwde nmn ata Hindi muna ako kumuha ng ticket pabalik dito dahil ang nakalagay naman sa conditions ng visa ko sa tourist is walng no further stay so its means is pwede ako mg extend kasi 3months lang nilagay nila. And yung entries ko is multiple. Hindi kaya ako mag ka problm sa immigration if ever one way ticket lang muna kinuha ko. Pls advise me mga sis thanks! Dun ko na kasi hihintayin yung result ng PV ko then if na approved na uuwi nlng ako dito para sa bago kung visa.
Kung tourist visa ang hawak mo, hindi ka papayagan umalis ng Pilipinas kung wala kang ticket pabalik.
