[Update: September 15, 2014] Philippine passport holders can now apply for an Australian tourist visa online through the IMMI website. Application fee must be paid via credit card. You can still apply in person through VFS.

I am not a visa officer, nor am I migration agent. I am in no way affiliated with the Australian Embassy Manila nor with the Australian government. This post comes from my experience with preparing and submitting visa applications for family members and for myself. Also note that this entry pertains to my experience in applying for an Australian tourist visa in October 2006. The Australian immigration update their forms every 3 months. I will try to answer your questions the best way that I can, but bear in mind that a lot has changed since 2006. If you ask a question I’ve already answered in the post, I will ignore you.
One of the questions people ask me when I tell them I’ve been to Australia is if it’s easy to get a tourist visa. Almost everybody in Manila have heard of stories of how hard it is to obtain a US tourist visa: compiling documents like birth certificate, bank statements, even land titles O_O, paying a high application fee, waiting in line for hours for an interview. Is it as hard to get a tourist visa for Australia as it is for the US?
Actually, it’s not whether it’s harder on not, but it really boils down to how complete your documents are. I believe all embassies would be very meticulous about all the applications they receive, and it is really important to send them all the required documents.
Be it the Australian embassy, the US embassy or the Chinese embassy, they all want to know the same thing: that you are who you say you are, that you have the means to fund your trip in their country, and that you will be returning to your home country.
Proof of identity
This of course, is your passport and your birth certificate.
Proof of sufficient funds
Bank statements, credit card documents stating your credit limit, payslip
Proof that you’re not going to be an illegal immigrant
Certificate of employment if you’re already working or certificate of enrollment if you’re still studying

ask lang po sana ako about for partner visa.. i lodge my pmv, last august 27 sis. then i got and acknowledgement letter august 31 my nso and cenomar already despatch forwarded to australian embassy trough onlince ecen-sus. .. then i already done my medical last sept, 4..sa nationwide ako nag pa medical sis cebu ..then ngayon po wla na po ako balita sa pmv. application ko at wala pa din po email sa akin immigration at about naman sa medical ganito po ba talaga di na tin malalaman ang result. sa tingin niyo po.. ms ash, ms mojs.. janice, mary grace they already send my medical sa embassy.at ok na po bah ang lahat sa medical ko… kasi i dnt even have and idea..wala ako balita….. at nag email po ba sa inyo ang immigration sis na they inform you na, they already receive your nso, cenomar and medical? ..

@rose: everything is fine kapag hindi sila nag-email sa iyo. They will email you if they need something like additional documents. Hi Rose, it is mentioned in the acknowledgment letter na magkakaroon tayo ng co after 8 weeks. Sa akin ganun ang nangyari at 8 weeks tumawag ang co ko then emailed me the further info and or additional documents on the same day. The embassy received my app in june 24th, i got their acknowledgment letter in july 5th, and august 29 tumawag at nag email ang co ko. Theres NO confirmation from them na narisib na ang medical result and NSO docs so dont worry kasi im sure narisib nila ang mga yun hindi na lang nila tayo iniinform. Goodluck sa atin.

Hi sissies Grace and Lynn, brisbane din ako. I lodged PMV and TV last june. Granted na tv app ko pero still on process pa pmv app. Susunduin kami ng baby ko ni F once baby’s papers are done(iaapply ko pa kasi xa ng citizenship by descent, at phil and aus passports).

hello maylenearanas@yahoo.com…. that is up2u sis.. f mag travel agency ka but if i were you, via center ka nlang sis. kasi di masyadong mahal unlike travel agency wen i had my tv 1st apply sis i use travel agency i paid. around 9k php.and the prcess was toke only 3days.then got granted . mabilis nga .. then wen i aply my 2nd tv.. i submit it to via, center cebu i paid only 900 psos.for handling fee was took 1 month.. but that s depnds for the case officer wh o handling for our application sis….case to case basis… and i got granted TV twice… and about for ticket sis.. ikaw lang yung mag pabook sa ticet mo .. sis u can do online or tarvel agnecy book u ticket .. before sis.. i book my ticket at agency i paid..1,243k $ then ngayon sis my F book online is more cheaper sis pag online ka mag pabook sis.. my F only paid, $946.. hope it helps.. and gluck sis..

Hi vhani…kahit Naman sang lugar kapa sa pinas..u can always lodge Ur application without going to ,Manila ..just call embassy hotline, that ur going to lodge Ur application , sila Mismo magpapadala ng courier jan sa address mo to pick up your documents…and it’s air21..but u need to call them para ma schedule for pick up…hope it helps..

U have two option how to lodge Ur application..
If NASA Manila ka or Cebu, u can lodge sa office nila via center alegro..
Makati-700 pesos charge
Cebu- 900 pesos
Or pwde ka tumawag sa hotline nila, para magpa book ng appointment para pick apin ang docs mo..I think 300-500 ang charge nila, sila na mag pick up sla narin mag deliver sa result..
About sa brown envelop..Kung ano ilalagay..
Bio page ng passport mo (photocopy ) if naka pag travel kana abroad, u ay prints also the relivant pages na may mga tatak.
bank statement or bank cert ( some our sisters dito they put mga 50-100k) as show money.
Western union receipts photo copy, if ever nagnpadala na sya sau.
Emails and conversation Nyo, yahoo, Skype ,etc. (proof un)
If nag kita na Kau, pictures Nyo together, hingi ka copy ng ticket Nya, e print mo, pati mga receipt ng hotel Kung San Kau nag stay or mga booking information, print ko in Lahat..
Gawa ka ng intent letter , Kung ano purpose ng trp mo, Kung sino sponsor mo etc.may sample dito..scroll back mo LNG ang page..

hey snowyb you dont need to have medical coz ur applying for tourist visa only..unless requested and your giving 6 months or more visa..

hi @maylene dto ako sa Oz now ksama ung 4yr old son ko under pmv pero dalawang beses na kming nakapag tourist dito ng son ko. ako lahat naglakad nun sis hindi ako nag pa agency tlga namang worth it and now my parents just lodged thier tv application today hopefully ma grant din cla 😉
just pray lang maapprove din yan kc d naman cla ganun kahigpit sa tv eh as long as complete ung mga docs na ipinasa mo.

Sis, as far as i know…you can re-apply for another tourist visa while in Oz long as you have no “NO FURTHER STAY” condition in your grant visa.

Tine, if you have met already your fiancée here in ph, u can apply for tourist visa…usually granted yan! Lalo na Kung complete docs talaga…and when u get to Aussie, u can both get married..just bring your birth cert then passport, but still u have to go come back here in ph after Ur visa expired, and apply for new visa under spousal visa…and wait for the result for months…I don’t know LNG ilang bulan un …usually less than 6months ul get Ur new spousal visa..ok..goodluck tin ..ask ka Nlng sa ilang ka ano natin dito…

Mine is xerox lang in black and white, and my bf’s passport copy is in colored one…both notarized. But then, some submitted their copies na hindi nanotarized and still, got a granted result. So, up to you sis. Goodluck po.
i never submitted any notarized passport copy for me and my son even for my hubby but still all my visa was granted. couple of times tv and just recently pmv.

Fill up the tourist visa application form.
Have a photocopy of you passport bio page ( ug first page na May pic and info mo)
If you travelled before, pa photocopy narin ng relivant pages.
If you have job, employment cert, if May business any business permit, dti and others, all photocopy only.
Bank statement or bank certificate will do ( have the original one w/receipt )
50k or more.
So if nag met up na Kau ni bf, first…
Photocopy of his ticket
Photos together
Hotel booking photocopies
Invitation letter of sponsorship ( your bf can make one, then print out to sign then scan and send it to you)
If he has supported you na, have the western union receipt photocopy
Ask him also, car registration, employment cert, passport photocopy, also the page na may tatak when he visit you, his bank statement , driver license, Medicare card… aLL photocopy ok,,,tell him to scan and you print okey…ok..
Lastly gawa ka ng formal letter of intent for your vacation, sulat mo LNG interest mo sa pag totourist mo at San balay mag pupunta…

yes thats fine, if naka open kana, just go to ur bank, and tell them u need manager check for australian visa payment 5,900..Im telling you approved na yan kasi nag visit na pala sya sau, just dont forget ung documents when he visit you, photocopy of tickets, hotel booking..ilagay mo narin sa application mo na may anak ka..san kabah sa australia? andito na ako australia, kakarating ko lng din nung 27..malamig pa dito during afternoon and night time, and minsan sa umaga…brisbane pala ako…

hi Ms Maylene, nice sana if may copy sya mga tickets nya at hotel booking, if he booked it online, he can look for it sa email nya…if ever naman wala, have his passport scan to you, the page na may tatak nung dumating at lumabas sya ng bansa, and also the boarding pass..if wala talaga, lots of pictures together, put caption at the back sa picture…ok..Goodluck..

I am working from home as an ESL teacher (language instructor). That means were not paying taxes and etc. We don’t have payslips too since our salary is sent out to our bank accounts/atms. My boss is from the overseas. We’re direct hired and we don’t have a company/office overseas. My worries is we don’t have a company/school overseas and employees are not paying taxes. My manager is hesitant to issue me COE and grant my leaves. What’s the best thing to do? Please help.
