[Update: September 15, 2014] Philippine passport holders can now apply for an Australian tourist visa online through the IMMI website. Application fee must be paid via credit card. You can still apply in person through VFS.

I am not a visa officer, nor am I migration agent. I am in no way affiliated with the Australian Embassy Manila nor with the Australian government. This post comes from my experience with preparing and submitting visa applications for family members and for myself. Also note that this entry pertains to my experience in applying for an Australian tourist visa in October 2006. The Australian immigration update their forms every 3 months. I will try to answer your questions the best way that I can, but bear in mind that a lot has changed since 2006. If you ask a question I’ve already answered in the post, I will ignore you.
One of the questions people ask me when I tell them I’ve been to Australia is if it’s easy to get a tourist visa. Almost everybody in Manila have heard of stories of how hard it is to obtain a US tourist visa: compiling documents like birth certificate, bank statements, even land titles O_O, paying a high application fee, waiting in line for hours for an interview. Is it as hard to get a tourist visa for Australia as it is for the US?
Actually, it’s not whether it’s harder on not, but it really boils down to how complete your documents are. I believe all embassies would be very meticulous about all the applications they receive, and it is really important to send them all the required documents.
Be it the Australian embassy, the US embassy or the Chinese embassy, they all want to know the same thing: that you are who you say you are, that you have the means to fund your trip in their country, and that you will be returning to your home country.
Proof of identity
This of course, is your passport and your birth certificate.
Proof of sufficient funds
Bank statements, credit card documents stating your credit limit, payslip
Proof that you’re not going to be an illegal immigrant
Certificate of employment if you’re already working or certificate of enrollment if you’re still studying

Hello again. Ask ko lang po kasi Andito ako sa Qatar pero walang Australian embassy dito kaya ila-lodge ko lang yung application ko sa AVAC center dito. Nakalagay kasi sa site na yung visa fee is by “Demand Draft”. Paano ba yung demand draft? Thanks in advance.

Angel, I lodge my application sa allegro makati sept 4, didn’t receive any txt or email confirmation, until a week later I got panic, I called their premium line if they receive my application they told yes by sept5, I got granted sept 18 exactly 2weeks..I also got my visa confirmation same day, kc for pick up ung sakin, they texted me that the result is ready an un I went agad to pick up, then when I open granted ako for 3months…I am in Brisbane now nung 26 pa..sa meadowbrook ako sa Logan area…ikaw???

alam mo friend parehas tayo gift ko sa partner ko na makasama sya ngayong bday niya at makasama ang buong pamilya niya kaya pray and tears ,kaso 1st ko pa ng apply at mg 1month na din ung application namin ,australian agent lawyer ang ngprocess ng doc, namin ,sabi niya takes 4 to 6weeks na nalodge ung application namin sa pinas im sure sept 16 kasi manual wlang eta sa australia .pra sa pinas.

Hi Guys!!! This site has been a great help for boosting my confidence in processing my tourist visa. I lodged my application along with my aunt last Sept. 25 at the Allegro Center, then i received a text confirming that my application has been received by the Australian Embassy the following day – Sept. 26. Then today, i received a text from the embassy that my documents has been dispatched to the courier, i was expecting to receive it tomorrow but after lunch – air 21 was already here with the docs..- I got a visa grant for 3 months, yay!!! Visa Grant was dated Oct. 4 so the processing only took 7 working days. Thanks God! and to everyone here who has been so attentive in replying to all queries. Goodluck everyone 🙂

hello iyah79 congrats po sa PMV, ako sis, i lodge my PMV last august 27 tapos na din po ako nagpa medical sis, and tumwag po ako sa cebu doc, f na send na po ba yung medical result ko sabi nila last oct2 lang nila na isend sa australian embassy.and thankgod normal ang result.:) . . and done request online my nso, cenomar, ds oct27 po mag 2 months yung PMV application ko sis how long po ba yung hinintay mo sis?…bago nila na igrant yung PMV mo sis?.. and btw sis// i wil fly2 oz ds coming oct 22 sis, panu pag tumawag ang case offcer ko sis.. eh! nasa oz ako.. anu po ba ang dapat kong gawin sis?.. congrats ulit sis 🙂

Yes sis, you need to email them and let them know na pupunta ka OZ..give details and even provide mo yung contact numbers mo and email address mo while andito ka just in case they need to contact you or ask you additional documents, ganyan ginawa ko. 2 days ago nagemail me sa knila about sa extension ko kasi plan ko sana magextend, just today nagemail case officer ko, pinapadepart na ako Australia..

Yes sis, you should email them now, wag mo na anatyin closer flight mo..Ako nun, one month before my flight nagemail na ako. Since I lodged my PMV, ala kumkontak sa akin or email to let me know na may officer ako..sabi nila after 2 months magkaco na daw, pero more than 2 months na after lodge ko ala pa rin..so ngaply ako ngayon ng tourist visa..after few days, napprove yung tourist ko..nung andito na ako, ala pa rin me email or something..yung visa condition ko..pede magextend so naisipin ko emal imigration to ask them if di makakaapekto sa visa ko if magextend ako..may nagreply email ko..sabi they will forward my letter to my case officer..then that is the time only na nalaman ko may officer na ako..tapos today nagemail na officer ko.

hi @rose last year pko nag lodge it took about 9mos to process my pmv kc nung mag request ung CO ko for additional docs nandito ako sa OZ for tv so no choice after my visa expires saka ko pa naayus ung mga hinihingi nilang additional docs kya nitong July2013 na grant ung pmv so happy and blessed!

Hi iyah79 I’m Jifa ask ko LNG sana anu requirements for pmv bakak Sana namin mag apply kasi ung bf ko no work for now andito ako nga yun sa Adelaide pwede kaya ma sponsor ako ng magulang Nya or Hindi pwede dapat sya LNG give me some idea naman or hintayin na LNG namin until makahanap sya work or kng mag pa pakasal kami next year using tourist visa holder here anu anu ang MGA requirements for spouce visa hope big yan mo ako ng idea godbless sayo x
ask mo kung may CO na humahawak sa application mo kc minsan wala pang available na CO so ung iba need to wait atleast 8weeks for a CO’s availability if ever na merun ka nang CO just send email and notify them na aalis ka papuntang Oz then give mo contact number mo sa Oz and email so they can contact u if ever may additional docs na kailangan.

puede ka naman mka extend sis di ba kasi, ur visa is multiple.. but anaway yeah right, puede ka naman umuwi sis, din balik ulit kasi multiple yung visa mo, kaso.. ngah bibili ulit nang ticket wow nman sis, at least di ba marami kana din fillo friends der.. anaway sis.. keep in tocuh..god bless ingat….

@Anna Marie, hi sis, super dami n po ung 20kgs…sa kin nga 8kgs lang load ko, hand carry not included. Bale 7kgs ang hand carry limit mo, so ilagay u nlng ung iba din para d k mag-over. But then, if magdadala k ng baggage…food etc.better ring cathay pacific para alam mo na agad how much they charge per kilo of excess baggage. Happy trip sis.

Good Day sa lahat! sis annamarie sa december pa po plan ko umalis together with my partner. we will celebrate Christmas here first then New Year sa kanila. taga Manila po ako. i was denied once but this time i gather all the necessary documents and crossing my fingers na sana this time magrant na nila ako. kc before we just stated that we are colleague but now, we are in a de facto relationship so hoping na sana ay maging maayos na ang lahat. thank you sa site na ito and for Ms. Nina and also sa inyong lahat it really help na maboost ulit ang self confidence at magsimula ulit. ill let you know guys what will be the result. ill keep all of you updated. im planning to lodge it tomorrow or by wednesday. Hi sis, mine takes a week before madeliver ng courier ung result ko..and wala akong nareceive na email from the embassy about the result of my application, only text message saying that my docs were already dispatched for delivery. But then, i guess the email will do, long as it was indicated there that your tv appplication is granted.

Good day everyone…im a fan of this blog since 2010 pa…ive alrdy had a 3 time visa granted coz of course the help of the site many thanks for Ms. Nina having a very helpful site justwandering.org. me tanong po ako Ms Nina, my latest visa granted is a multiple visa of 3mos stay…can I visit 3mos every after trip or a matter of 3mos only for a period of 1year that said to the multiple visa grante kc po say there till oct 2014 is my multiple visa with 3mos stay…mejo confusing, tama po ba na in a year of the visa u can just hv 3mos in all or every trip if u will come again after the 1st visit of 3mos, pede pa ulit ang 3mos on the 2nd trip within a year..thanks po sa pagbasa at sa pagsagot if you get what I mean …thanks po and God Bless all and Good luck to all applicants..

Possible ba mgrant ako kahit la na ko leave letter from work??? Hi Ces, Air21 picked up our documents Last Oct. 1 (from our provincial address in Benguet). I received my SMS notification na for delivery na yung documents/grant last Oct 19. I never received any email from them 🙂
